I think Betty loved her role to bash Joan Crawford in "What ever happened to baby jane"". Two fine actresses battle it out and the winner is> Betty Davis
@alrozz WRONG. Bette Davis was a common bitch. Crawford never lost her star quality and, in her prime, was one of the most beautiful women ever to grace the Silver Screen. Davis was always simply a character.
@exposednerve12 Betty Davis and Joan Crawford were polar opposites, I agree. They were, however, the very best at what they were though. Betty Davis was one of the best actresses that has ever graced the big screen. Likewise, Joan Crawford was one of the best movie stars who has ever graced the big screen. Comparing the two is like comparing an apple to an orange. One of them, the best orange, the other, the best apple.
I have just finished reading a book on her called Dark Victory, it said she left her two Oscars to Kathryn in her will. Kathryn auctioned them off. Bitch.
What a shallow person! Now that I am older and wiser. I see that Bette Davis was an obsessed BITCH! I take her daughter's side! I don't think she knew what a charity was or an underdog. She had it easy! That is the irony of her BULLSHIT saying, "I did it the hard way!" Fuck You Bette! YOU FOOL! You were WEAK! You don't fool me!
I knew she was going to mention Baby Jane lol, I have a feeling Baby Jane is truly her favorite role, it was SUCH A GREAT PERFORMANCE, and she was of course robbed at the Oscars and it was such a special movie for her, I guess you could say it was the last true great role offered to her, and she made it great of course, but she also saw the acting potential in it, other actress would've just played it like it was, a b movie character, but she saw depth in it, in the tragedy of Baby Jane and she
Joan Rivers' career went in a much different direction after this show failed. I enjoyed this show when it aired in 1986-87 season on FOX. Joan looked good back then & her surgery now has her totally looking like a different person. Since then She adapted to the taste of or the lack of, today's audiences. But Joan showed her guests respect & she should've been Carson's replacement. Joan has rolled with the punches & went thru a lot after this show failed & Edgar's suicide she's a survivor.
WOW! This interview is such an inspiration! It makes me cry- this tough, ballsy woman who had been through it all(and I do mean ALL- cancer, stroke, that awful book her rotten, ungrateful daughter wrote) and still had grace, humor, and CLASS! I hope to God wherever I go in the end, I'll get the honor to meet this wonderful talented woman!
Bette sure did hang in there! If there's one thing I noticed it's that she never lost her wit, charm, or her wonderfully unique sense of humor. Bette was there at the very very top and to me she will always remain there. They just don't have actress like this anymore! And she's so vivacious and full of life! Bette had so much to give! A very great lady :) We love you Bette Davis!
Joan was such a gracious host, here and on this show. Too bad she hadn't gone for a daytime talk show, I think her congeniality would've fit that time better, as compared with being late-night against Johnny et al.. Kudos to Bette...she was one tough broad and kept right on being that way after her stroke.
Betty Davis scares the crap outta me!

@Shubael1809 - Bette Davis was a lady, though, something you could never say about Crawford. And there was nothing common about her!

turned out a GENIUS performance and transformed a b movie character into one of the greatest film villains of all time, Baby Jane Hudson.
