I love when politicians openly admit that the government doesn't work and can't do things. Dumbass. You are the government. But spending 2.5 trillion over ten years on Iraq/Afghanistan is just fine. Just say you don't want to piss your lobbyists off, dummy. Also notice Sanders plan can be explained in one breath, and Gregg loses his breath trying to explain his. What seems more like red tape and bureaucracy?
ATTENTION: to those who have been "baited" by 'whiteliberal1'. He is all over YouTube and has many different accounts (sock-puppets). He claims to be a Korean Marine; a black teenager, a white priest, etc. He is a professional troll, look him up for yourself. Others have actually posted warnings in the form of videos that have been taken down as inflammatory by their hosts (in good faith). Do NOT give him the benefit of the doubt. You have been notified.
Lol i love how chris defends the socialist. Really brings out the lefts true colors. Socialism is for the lazy, worthless, and corrupt, who believe they deserve everything with other peoples dollar. Capitalism is ever-evolving, and should never be compared to the failure known as "socialism."
@FuckMeatStew I find it difficult to take any argument seriously that includes hyperbolic abbreviations and poor grammar. You suggest that socialism is for the lazy, yet you find it too difficult to capitalize and punctuate your comment. You are correct in saying that "Capitalism is ever-evolving." In the past one hundred years, the United States has shifted from pure capitalism to a more socialist form of capitalism. If you don't believe me, study Franklin Roosevelt.
@liberalinwesttexas Lol fdr made the great depression last longer with his deficit spending. But because of all his pandering, he is seen as a "hero". And what has your socialism done? Taken half of the middle classes checks for the ponzi scheme social security, and socialized medicines medicare and medicaid? You've also created a generation of lazy liberals who don't even want a job, because people like you like to give money to lazy losers.
@liberalinwesttexas The problem is that folks such as Fuckmeatstew fully believe the blather spouted by the GOP and the corporate masters of congress. They have not enough education to fully understand the implications of anything.
People like the aforementioned poster are recipients of the dumbed down educational system so they do not have the critical thinking skills necessary to make a thorough evaluation of what is going in our system of government.
BERNIE SANDERS FOR PRESIDENT ....VOTE FOR THE ONLY SENATOR NOT OWNED BY THE CORPORATIONS! HE'S FOR THE PEOPLE! LOOK AT HIS RECORD AS MAYOR, AS CONGRESSMAN, AS SENATOR .. STELLAR! GOD BLESS HIM!
The funny thing is that this bill will actually cut the deficit when it becomes active. I hope the next time the republicans are voted out they'll amend it to kick in sooner and make it closer to single payer.
The funny thing is that this bill will actually cut the deficit when it becomes active. I hope the next time the republicans are voted out they'll amend it to kick in sooner and make it closer to single payer.
Under a single payer, universal health care system, there is no "rationing" of care. You get what you need, and extras, are, well, extra. Need to give birth? You get what you need to deliver a baby safely, you get what you need if there are complications, and you stay in a shared room in the hospital for as long as you need to. You might not get a private room and a week's stay, but people's needs are met.
@Chslosers Heard of taxes? How about giving up the imperialist agenda and spending your money on the people of america instead of bombing people in the third world, oops, i mean "free" them.
@atosafi1 I don't support the war.. but if you could cut out alot of the defense budget and specialty contracts given inside the domestic US you could spend it on the people.. but yet you would probably still like to raise taxes.
The problem is that the market has no consciousness, what's happened in America is that you've become dependant on your arms industry so therefore you NEED to have wars, without wars mass unemployment would hit the country and the economy would crash.
If you can find money to kill people you can find money to help people.
Of course I'd like a tax raise, when a guy like Warren Buffet pays less in tax than an industrial worker there is a fundamental issue with the system.
@David12King Your in a small majority since over 70% of Americans want taxes raised on people who make over $100,000 per year and corporation in general that have a huge stock pile of cash as it is from not paying the taxes they owe. Do you make over $100,000 per year? I don't think so, quit watching FOX and listening to Rush Limbaugh you douche, your blinder then you think...news.dedlines.com
@David12King To cover the deficit we need to cut spending on the NWO's military -- look at these videos, this is what I'm saying, and I hate to repeat what Cenk says so here you go:
@David12King Like Cenk says, after we cut the crappy spending habits we can have a surplus of our NGDP. That means we will be in the plus in money, the NGDP will be balanced and we can use the extra money to pay off the accumulated debt. We need taxes raised on the rich corporations to help accomplish this. Then after we get the debt solved we can solve health care. The prices are whats whacked in health care. How does doctors get away with charging so much money for simple procedures?
He is correct in saying that Medicare does not pay 100% of the bill. But, he fails to mention that neither do insurance companies. They pay a negotiated rate that is far lower than the actual bill. It is not a secret. It is on your bill very plainly.
Medicare is such a ripoff and constantly needs to have tax increases to support the failed system with it's 100,000 plus pages that stagnate this country. It's no wonder why a lot of doctors don't except medicare at all and cut the shit out of insurance companies as well. Republicans are useless by there right here imposing this "public option". Not just on cost either but on the fact that it would be the first time every the federal government required you to buy something.
Btw; What's with you and the sheep references? You seem to refer to them a lot. You want to talk about it? It's a FELONY down here in Florida to screw around with animals, both domesticated and non-domesticated! It's called.....bestiality. Just throwing that out there in case you didn't know.
You're just upset because there are white ppl. in America who don't view the world the way you think they should. Hence all whites should go against anything that is fair to other races of people. You're also upset that a former Marine with a college education, would support a bi-racial President, who is more competent than the last clown you voted for......TWICE!
You want your America back? The same America our ancestors slaughtered the Natives over?
Thanks for telling me about, "your marine buddies", but my Marine buddies supported him because, they liked the fact that he has common sense.....they didn't need anything else.....Either way, I still can't believe the American ppl. voted TWICE for dubya. Great job he did, eh?
Again, what's your point about "your marine buddies"? I'm talking about guys I served with, while doing tours in Panama and the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia/Serbia). What's your point?
Then lets make it so that everyone has the opportunity to be rich. Lets have health care across state lines so it is as cheap as car insurance.
If we have another entitlement the government will go bankrupt or be insolvent and our cheap money will be worht nothing leaving the rich rich and the poor poorer.
If your using WHO/UN standards just want to let you know its flawed. Governemnts are not required to turn in factual data. Of course a socialized country would claim better medicines or long life span and lower infant mortality rate.
And also about the farm subsidies. Sure they can be good to stop certain companies from going out of business. I'm not denying that there are subsidies, but this affects the prices of the commodities it tries to protect. If the market wants a lower price
Do you know that we pay subsidies for people NOT TO GROW tobacco? WOW. Imagine how much business that would make.
Subsidies breed corruption and provides people with the incentive not to create cost effective products.
Why is that 51% of all taxes in the US go to the military? Why is it republicans view the federal government as a complete and total failure yet they managed to produce a military 200 times more powerful than the second country? Repubs are ready to send in their socialistic killing machine which is the military and start optional, useless wars which benefit nobody except the huge corporations yet the fear of the devil is put into them when the very same entity is asked to provide health care.
It only shows that both parties and bought and paid for by the same people. This ultimately makes US politics completely and utterly irrelevant. Both sides are to blame because both sides are the same.
"every branch" is obviously not true but they control both houses and the executive. Congress has the military's checkbook and the president has a great deal of power to restrict military expansion.
However my comment said every branch which is wrong b/c that would include the Supreme Court which leans right IMO
And I never "Hoped" for "Change". It's just a jingle, a slogan, a way to sell a product. I'm no Obama supporter, as I know he has been produced into a capitalistic product for sale to the highest bidder, just like every other president before him.
The same diluted approach can be used with "Country first". It's all a scam.
Because the Repubs systematically show less of an anti war stance than dems. With the exception of Ron Paul.
Repubs are CRYING and SHOUTING "Socialism" will destroy the US and bring on the christian apocalypse yet they commanded the greatest socialized military to invade two 3rd world countries halfway around the world which plunged to US into the depths.
Now, the same governing body is asked to provide health care for all, and the repubs turn around and say the federal government is the devil
Call me crazy, but the federal government SHOULD make care available for all without a price tag. It's one of the things a "REAL" functioning government should do, look after the well being of its own citizens. But, what do we have instead? A federal government challenging the whole middle east via "The war on terror" which has pretty much unlimited funding and no price tag is too large.
Why do the republicans support war half a world away over free local health care? War is far more expensive.
Since the optional wars are far more expensive than a true public option, repubs can't use "too expensive" or "bankruptcy" as a reason, and they certainty can't yell "SOCIALISM!!" because they commanded the largest socialized army in the world to invade two defenseless 3rd world countries.
So what leg do the repubs have to stand on when it comes to the argument against the public option? Cost and Socialism are illusions.
You're saying I'm blaming one party? As if it were the "fault" or cause of one party which allowed the military to grow into the empire that it has become? That took many administrations, over many years, with both democrats and republicans sitting in as president. I'm fully aware of both sides...the patriot act is still standing, ain't it?
Well it kind of seemed that way from your comments. You mentioned the Repubs half a dozen times when complaining about the situation and never the democrats. Seems biased but I guess not because you seem to understand its a failure of both.
From my point of view I am more pissed at the Dems right now b/c they have the authority to do many things to fix our country but they don't.
IMO b/c they are corporate sellouts.
Do you really think the Repub minority can stop the Dems agenda? How?
orion; I never said ONE person made me better. Reading and comprehension works together. The Corps. as a whole made me a better person. I've traveled the globe and saw the very things, nimrods such as yourself, take for granted. I am truly thankful and blessed that I had the chance to help my fellow Americans. Even douchebags such as yourself who sit on you-tube and say that, "you've been brainwashed by the corps."!
Once again, the substance of your conversation doesn't exist. Now shoo!
Why does Christ Matthews keep calling Sen. Sanders a "Democrat" when he clearly states he is an Independent? I wish we didn't have such a powerful ins. lobby scaring people away from single payer. I agree it's the only way to go and would GLADLY pay it to get the INSURANCE COMPANY bureaucrats from between Americans and their doctors!
I see you all are in this together. I must say that, insulting my Military record doesn't bother me at all. If I had to do it over again, I would. I'm proud to have served. Brainwashed? No. The Corps. just made me a better person. Unless you have something of substance to discuss, take my advice and.......SHOO!
I think people who serve in the military deserve benefits above what a regular citizen receives. That doesn't mean the rest of us are second class, it means we need to be productive in other ways to get our services from the community.
You are saying you deserve nothing different than someone who contributes nothing to our community?
PS. Whoever has such weak ideas that they need to use personal attacks is not likely to have anything to say worth listening to.
PSS If anyone reading this would like to pay me for this please contact me immediately. I live below the Federal Poverty line and could surely use the money.
I have many in my family who have served our country and agree with me that it should not be the Federal authorities job to provide heath care to the citizens.
They do believe in protecting your right to say the things you do no matter how distasteful or inaccurate.
Even though the constitution has nothing to do with those services I believe its revealing you think we should throw away our rights in the constitution. I disagree but at least you admit it would be necessary to embrace socialism.
Sanders really does speak for the people. He's smart, he's focused on problem-solving, he doesn't use ANY fear tactics or grand ideological statements. He looks at what works in other countries (which are thriving democracies - much more stable trustworthy than ours if you look at recent history) and thinks intelligently about how it would work here. He's a good guy. Wish we had 99 more of him in the Senate.
lets drop the left right paradine and look elsewhere for leadership our old white southern guys are worthless at their jobs hence the condition of ""our"" country""
Vote for anybody BUT the top two names on your ballot! There is no need for campaign finance or term limits if the electorate would just vote for third party candidates. A few cycles of voting for people OTHER than democrats and republicans would permanently change the political landscape in our country.
Putting a beurocrat between patient and doctor is exactly what the insurance companies are doing. My country has single payer, i don't even have to fill out a form when i go to the doctor (of my own choosing) and the first question the doctor asks is not "where is your insurance card", it's "where does it hurt?".
Making it mandatory with 'Bio Chip implants', forcing to pay or else! How is that freedom??
Oh, that's right, while we were sleeping some de facto self appointed potentates replaced our Free Republic with a tyrannical Demockery.
...Oops! So we just let other people decide what I do with MY sweat equity, when, where and what kind of help I get. I also get to pay for fat lazy diabetic alcoholics.
theres too many people in the halls of congress so we need to reduce its size by tossing out the clutter namely all members who have been in seat for over 1 term and never re-elect any member ever,,,no matter how good or bad.. remember 1 term nets enough money to retire on for the average working american
If the republicans are serious - then let all the republican politicians give back their taxpayers paid for health insurance and get off their asses and get their own
I am uninsured and I can not get Health Care through my employer because I am not full-time, but I can not be full-time at work because I am full-time in school.
Doctor visits and medicine are quite expensive. When I got sick it costs $200. $80 for a doctors visit and $120 for a prescription medication. I still feel some symptoms of my illness, but I am hesitant to pay more money.
Fuck your heartless ass and your stupid mother for allowing a little shit like you to be born. Yes I do have the right to your money and I hope to God we get this public option so you can get so pissed off that you riot or kill yourself for all I care. People like you deserve to feel wronged, asshole.
Sure hope noone gets sick without insurance cost those ER bills are pretty high. Thank god they only take your house and ruin your credit for for a part of your for saving your whole life.
Healthy lifestyle is only a brief part of it. That's like saying all you have to do is brush your teeth and floss and you won't ever have to go spend money at the dentist. It's bullshit.
Bernie Sanders is a socialist, he is more to the left politically than any other current US Senator which is why he is an independent. The Democratic party is nothing more than another right wing party and the Republican party is dictated by the fringes of the right wing movement. The Democratic party shifts further to the right on most issues, every time they're up against wall when they control both chambers of congress.
They went from being a party opposing anti-abortion bills, to one that would support such bills. it would have been unheard of if the Democrats did this during the Bush years of the previous 8 years. The republican have principles that follow and Democrats water down things that they claim that to value.
So when the Democratic party loses seats in the house and senate in the 2010 midterm election, they better get the message the American people are sending, that is if they wanted a right wing party to control the house and senate, they would prefer to have an authentic right wing party over than one that imitates one.
Rationinhg as opposeed to a minority few provided more healthcare than they need, increasing costs for eveyone else because their insurance will pay for it. A majority of the people working no less hard than those minority few, unable to obtain the healthcare they need and discouraged from pursuing the healthcare they are pittanced because of spiralling costs and the ability of the pharmaceutical companies making up their "research costs" on the backs of sick but very hardworking people.
The federal govt is incompetent. Every program they have ever run, they run run into the ground. it costs far more than the free market and isnt nearly as efficient and always costs more. Its the federal govt that interfered with healthcare in the first place that caused prices to spike in the first place. You want the same greedy bastards that took bribes from lobbyists to keep costs up running this thing? This is why we fail: Corporate Communism, Economic Fascism, Socialized Medicine, Welfare
If the federal government is incompetent the Repubicans are uttter failures: Touting a "free market system that costs more than any healtchcare in the world but delivers far less, the "expanxion" to which the con refers was specifically designed to create windfall proftits for big pharma out of the American Treasury on the BACKS of working Americans. Sound familiar?
The republicans are utter failures. They preach small govt and free market, yet they really practice "govt managed capitalism" and expand the size and cost of govt. The democrats lost their minds recently and decided to become socialists. I generally blame this on the Bush administration for being one of the worst presidents in history and turning the republicans into neo-cons. He truly ruined the Republican party. They're all hypocrites
I agree, drunkenboxer1985, the Republicans are not only utter failures, they can not admit to these mistakes they've made (if any of it was indeed an accident). The most reprehensible thing to see is them eying the next election to take it back to the way it was which tells me they have no remorse which means they should not hold elected office or really be a part of democracy at all. I'm all for killing the Republican Party and making it the laughing stock of American History it deserves.
I think the republican party should be brought back to what it claims to be. And I dont understand where u get the idea that we are a democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic
You're an idiot. Yes, everything the government does is more expensive and less efficient. Its govt managed capitalism that caused this problem when push through ridiculous laws that dont allow insuance companies to compete nationwide. Instead they force people to choose out of a few companies within their state. I'm not giving republicans any credit either tho. They lost touch with the constitution along time ago and are as much to blame. If u want the govt to run healthcare youre a socialist
Only a delusional and dishonest lunactic could keep repeating 'choice choice; while at the same time denying choice of heathcare, between private and public.
as American Born i had Heart Pain i had to drive out of Queens NYC to Long Island to get good Medical Care Since they did not now i had Insurance becuse it was my first time there i only not Risked My Life but many othere on the road to get to a EMPTY Hospital then in Queens NYC where i walked in and told them i had heart pain they told me get in line so i risked my life and many otheres on the road to get to a Emety Hospital lucky it was only GAS the Land of the FREE
Taking the immense profits from the insurance "middle men" leeches and putting it directly into medicare wouldn't produce any kind of rationing at all except to the greedy CEO's. The cons want people to pay more to the already rich for less service and have no regulation for corrupt activities as has been proven under both Bushes.
Its a bad word because you are not my responsibility. I am not your baby sitter, I am not your provider. Medicine is no different from any other commodity, there is nothing mystical about it. If you abolish the FDA there would be a flood of cheap medicine over night, but that won't happen because drug companies make too much money from the barriers to entry. Same with the AMA. Government was never supposed to be dictating healthcare, and people act like its a free market. Bull fucking shit.
I'm a retired Marine E-7 (Gunnery Sergeant) who served in Panama and the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia/Serbia). I am gainfully employed with a B/A degree (English) thanks to the GI bill. I'm saying this because.......I DON'T MIND helping my fellow (human being) who may be down on their luck! Thanks to this economy and other atrocities that were created by dubya's administration.
I sleep well at night. A dollar here and there to help someone in need, wlll not alter my lifestyle. Get over yourself!
Then help your fellow human being. Why does that have to involve everyone else? Its not "a dollar here and there" anyway, its the end of healthcare choice that has been going on for decades. And I'm glad you think its all dubya's fault, its dubya's fault medicare and medicaid are going under too I'll bet.
The economy as we know it TODAY is dubya's fault! Don't try to twist my words. You don't have to help a soul. It baffles me that republicans are the ones who preach about Christianity, but fail to do the things that God intended us to do. Hence helping others in a time of need, no matter what. If you are a Christian, how can you explain your selfish ways?
You ppl. were against medicare back in the day. Those same ppl. who were against it, are now recipients! Go figure..
I am NOT a republican, and I am an ANTI theist. You only care about parties, that is why you don't care about why the system is messed up and don't care about the mechanics behind economics. You make emotional appeals on par with a typical christian when it comes to how the government should spend other people's money. I should be more "compassionate" and just accept christ into my heart, and ignore facts like, economics.
abraham; If you believe in God and the day he judges you, allow me to stand in line when you tell him that, " this was about economics." Never mind a person who has no h/c and is dying as I type. But, you say it boils down to economics?
Try two wars! Try tax cuts for the wealthiest! Try deregualation of wall street! Try turning a surplus into a deficit!
Better yet, try visiting a local ER and finding ppl., who are uninsured, being seen for a earache! Who's going to pay that $600 bill?!
What personal liberties? Like the ones me and my fellow soldiers left in Countries you can't find on a map?! "Dubya's fault"? Hence starting two wars w/o any care in the world. Try researching; WMD's.
Tax cuts for the wealthiest, etc,, say uncle and I'll stop!
I know you were a teenager when Clinton was POTUS, but did you happen to notice the surplus we had?
No, I "DON'T MIND" spending an extra $ to help the next human. It's not all about me. I learned that in Corps!
The freedom to not be obligated to pay for other peoples health services.
I can understand your bet that I would do poorly in geographic knowledge but I assure you I, unlike most Americans, can easily identify the countries we bomb on a map. In fact I have a large world and US map hung on the wall right next to me.
While Clinton did balance the budget, he did nothing to address the trillions in unfunded Medicare liabilities. A point I made which you failed to address.
He took us into a globalization path, created NAFTA, & turned his eyes away from predatory lending from big banks.
Clinton was just as bad as W.
The problem accepting answers from just one side. They are BOTH corrupts. Until we have more choices, we're stuck w/ these two groups of corporate whores.
Clinton was much more financially responsible. GOP was willing to pay HUGE taxpayer dollars for nonsense like "file gate" "travel gate" and finally "Monica gate" just to take him down. They're the party of "deficits don't matter" and it makes me ill how they rubber stamp all Dubya's draining of our treasure and started blaiming Obama LITERALLY the day after the election! hypocrites.
I assume your play on my youtube name is meant as a personal insult, which is disappointing because it shows you don't respect me even if we disagree.
You did when you stated you "served in Panama and the former Yugoslavia "
As I'm sure you're aware those countries were bombed by our military, and regardless of what you claim I can easily identify their location on a map. Bush was much more offensive than Clinton indeed but you again fail to address my point concerning medicare's insolvency.
I see you use the same talking pts. when referring to others on this video. Hence calling out everyone for "personal insults". I'm not the first one you've accused of this. Remember; It's a "youtube name"! Get over it, junior.
Also, I named TWO Countries I did tours in. There were countless others Countries I served in as well. What about you?
As for Clinton's "insolvency" on medicare, I'm sure you have a family member who would differ with your perspective on that.
I won't apologize for being consistent. I believe people would do themselves credit by listening to each other and trying to understand where the other person is coming from even if we don't agree.
Would you disagree "senior"?
I haven't served in the armed forces.
Medicare currently has 38 Trillion in unfunded obligations. That's Trillion with a "T". I don't think its acceptable to pass that debt on to my children and their generation. Our kids deserve better in my opinion.
I don't recall asking you to apologize for anything.
Would I agree that listening to the other side is adventageous to my overall thought process? Well, it depends. If it's some clown on you-tube who sits around and trolls all day in search of a pointless, strawman argument..........HELL NO!
Talking pts.=passing the debt on to my children.
Our kids also deserve to be covered! It was the republicans who voted against funding the SCHIP program. Don't get me started with the kids!
Ok liberal,I think youre saying some people on here aren't intellectually gifted and therefore you can't learn much from them. If so, I'll grant you that point but I still think personally attacking them does little good and is revealing of someone's character.
So it seems you finally address my "strawman" point by identifying it then quickly changing the subject.
How can we trust the Gov to provide healthcare to our citizens when their current plan is on course to bankrupt the entire country?
OK reverend, as always, you continue to guess and "think". The government has been providing h/c for years to American citizens. It's called Medicare! If you're referring to medicare bankrupting the Country, what's taking so long? These are complete fallacies and talking pts. you're using. Come with solid facts and not maybe, could've, should've and probably.
Hard core facts!
Btw; You and your other buddies on this channel can prepare to reap the benefits of the NEW h/c bill!
It is unbelievable to me that these Republicans are totally OK with millions uninsured in this country -- as long as it's not THEM or their kids and they are stupid enough to think it never will be.
ASSHOLE SHIT who doesn't deserve to live and should get ass raped then murdered, Chris is asking why heartless fucks like you don't see eye-to-eye with the intelligent, decent Europeans who feel a connection to their fellow man and see it as their responsibility to make sure the people of their society are healthy and happy. How do you sleep at night knowing you're so self-centered?
Why don't heartless fucks like you see eye-to-eye with the intelligent, decent Maoists who feel a connection to their fellow man and see it as their responsibility to make sure the people of their society are fed and happy. How do you sleep at night knowing you're so self-centered? Nationalize food production! Food is just as important as healthcare, it can't be any more difficult for the government to handle! Let the government dole out food, no one will starve! See how pathetic you are, jfk?
Yes I undestand your point, but when the government takes money out of your paycheck and "gives it out to the less fortunate" you feel a lot better. How about you do that on your own accord?
Food is so cheap because of the free market. The competition is what keeps prices so low.
TO have the Government nationalize something should be the last resort. It gives us less incentive to work and take care of each other.
And if the government giveth food so easily they can take it away as well.
The government is not increasing competition. They are forcing insurance companies to stop discriminating. This is okay for big insurance companies that have a lot of money, but if you go to a small insurance company (the few that can jump the regulatory hoops), you CANNOT deny people, meaning the rates are going to go up or they will go bust. The "public option" is the destruction of choice because it is not just "another insurance company", it is designed to kill everything else off.
The mandate on the demand side is: buy the insurance or pay a fine. Let assume the insurance is (artificially) cheaper than the fine, its only going to herd the masses into the few existing plans left, those plans are separated from profit and loss, and will eventually degrade because there is no way to control cost other than to raise rates (or lower salaries) I.e. central planning. Then the free market will be blamed for that, and in comes "pick a number and wait in line".
Hey there is something called the Anti-trust exemption which health care companies have. If it were across state lines it would presumably make more competition.
Adding a public option would presumably increase competition but take a look at unfunded liabilities. We have 106 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Enough said.
We haven't tried all the options and we are talking about adding another entitlement. We can't fun what we already have. What makes you think we can afford a public option?
You realize in the present system the average american pays more for health care compared to the citizens of 36 other countries ranked above the US on the WHO's list. The US also averages the most spent as a country on health care.
Ahh well, up to this point, there isn't much "factual" evidence you can produce to prove that the US health care system is better than France. Damn those French, always surrendering in war huh?
I love when politicians openly admit that the government doesn't work and can't do things. Dumbass. You are the government. But spending 2.5 trillion over ten years on Iraq/Afghanistan is just fine. Just say you don't want to piss your lobbyists off, dummy. Also notice Sanders plan can be explained in one breath, and Gregg loses his breath trying to explain his. What seems more like red tape and bureaucracy?

If you don't believe me, study Franklin Roosevelt.
liberalinwesttexas 8 months ago

@atosafi1 I don't support the war.. but if you could cut out alot of the defense budget and specialty contracts given inside the domestic US you could spend it on the people.. but yet you would probably still like to raise taxes.

@Chslosers

Subsidies breed corruption and provides people with the incentive not to create cost effective products.

Why is that 51% of all taxes in the US go to the military? Why is it republicans view the federal government as a complete and total failure yet they managed to produce a military 200 times more powerful than the second country? Repubs are ready to send in their socialistic killing machine which is the military and start optional, useless wars which benefit nobody except the huge corporations yet the fear of the devil is put into them when the very same entity is asked to provide health care.
asant79 2 years ago
Are you sure this is all the Repubs fault?
I believe Obama increased the military spending this year. Wouldn't that indicate we are dealing with a Bi-partisan issue?
revenge53142 2 years ago
It only shows that both parties and bought and paid for by the same people. This ultimately makes US politics completely and utterly irrelevant. Both sides are to blame because both sides are the same.
asant79 2 years ago
agreed..
So why do your comments blame "Repubs" for our morally repugnant militarism?
In fact the "Dems" have control of every branch of government so shouldn't you be blaming them for the lack of CHANGE you had HOPEd for?
revenge53142 2 years ago
correction:
"every branch" is obviously not true but they control both houses and the executive. Congress has the military's checkbook and the president has a great deal of power to restrict military expansion.
However my comment said every branch which is wrong b/c that would include the Supreme Court which leans right IMO
revenge53142 2 years ago
And I never "Hoped" for "Change". It's just a jingle, a slogan, a way to sell a product. I'm no Obama supporter, as I know he has been produced into a capitalistic product for sale to the highest bidder, just like every other president before him.
The same diluted approach can be used with "Country first". It's all a scam.
asant79 2 years ago
Because the Repubs systematically show less of an anti war stance than dems. With the exception of Ron Paul.
Repubs are CRYING and SHOUTING "Socialism" will destroy the US and bring on the christian apocalypse yet they commanded the greatest socialized military to invade two 3rd world countries halfway around the world which plunged to US into the depths.
Now, the same governing body is asked to provide health care for all, and the repubs turn around and say the federal government is the devil
asant79 2 years ago
Well if youre talking about what the politicians say then sure, Obama's the peace candidate.
But I'm concerned about what they actually do, and that hasn't really changed has it?
As far as all the crying and shouting like the dip shit from SC "You Lie!"
It seems like a bad play to keep peoples attention from whats really going on in Washington.
Wall street bailouts with multi-million dollar bonuses, etc, etc.
The healthcare bill will be another corporate handout watch and see.
revenge53142 2 years ago
Call me crazy, but the federal government SHOULD make care available for all without a price tag. It's one of the things a "REAL" functioning government should do, look after the well being of its own citizens. But, what do we have instead? A federal government challenging the whole middle east via "The war on terror" which has pretty much unlimited funding and no price tag is too large.
Why do the republicans support war half a world away over free local health care? War is far more expensive.
asant79 2 years ago
Since the optional wars are far more expensive than a true public option, repubs can't use "too expensive" or "bankruptcy" as a reason, and they certainty can't yell "SOCIALISM!!" because they commanded the largest socialized army in the world to invade two defenseless 3rd world countries.
So what leg do the repubs have to stand on when it comes to the argument against the public option? Cost and Socialism are illusions.
asant79 2 years ago
Why do the DEMOCRATS support war half a world away ?
Once again you are attacking "Reps" and ignoring the fact that Obama currently has the authority, and has used it to increase military spending.
Fact: Obama could bring the troops home
Fact: The DEMS could de-fund the empire
They aren't doing either of those things.
They have no legs at all.
Yet you continue to focus on them. Strange.
The Dems have the presidency and majority in both houses but the military spending isn't their fault?
revenge53142 2 years ago
You're saying I'm blaming one party? As if it were the "fault" or cause of one party which allowed the military to grow into the empire that it has become? That took many administrations, over many years, with both democrats and republicans sitting in as president. I'm fully aware of both sides...the patriot act is still standing, ain't it?
asant79 2 years ago
Well it kind of seemed that way from your comments. You mentioned the Repubs half a dozen times when complaining about the situation and never the democrats. Seems biased but I guess not because you seem to understand its a failure of both.
From my point of view I am more pissed at the Dems right now b/c they have the authority to do many things to fix our country but they don't.
IMO b/c they are corporate sellouts.
Do you really think the Repub minority can stop the Dems agenda? How?

Bernie Sanders is a socialist, he is more to the left politically than any other current US Senator which is why he is an independent. The Democratic party is nothing more than another right wing party and the Republican party is dictated by the fringes of the right wing movement. The Democratic party shifts further to the right on most issues, every time they're up against wall when they control both chambers of congress.
pthdy 2 years ago 3
They went from being a party opposing anti-abortion bills, to one that would support such bills. it would have been unheard of if the Democrats did this during the Bush years of the previous 8 years. The republican have principles that follow and Democrats water down things that they claim that to value.
pthdy 2 years ago
So when the Democratic party loses seats in the house and senate in the 2010 midterm election, they better get the message the American people are sending, that is if they wanted a right wing party to control the house and senate, they would prefer to have an authentic right wing party over than one that imitates one.

They're all hypocrites
drunkenboxer1985 2 years ago
I agree, drunkenboxer1985, the Republicans are not only utter failures, they can not admit to these mistakes they've made (if any of it was indeed an accident). The most reprehensible thing to see is them eying the next election to take it back to the way it was which tells me they have no remorse which means they should not hold elected office or really be a part of democracy at all. I'm all for killing the Republican Party and making it the laughing stock of American History it deserves.

Less efficient? More costly? Bullshit.
From the perspective of the consumers,

AND private insurance has more than 10x the bureaucracy.

Because their government bargains the price using economies of scale.

I sleep well at night. A dollar here and there to help someone in need, wlll not alter my lifestyle. Get over yourself!
whiteliberal1 2 years ago 3
Then help your fellow human being. Why does that have to involve everyone else? Its not "a dollar here and there" anyway, its the end of healthcare choice that has been going on for decades. And I'm glad you think its all dubya's fault, its dubya's fault medicare and medicaid are going under too I'll bet.
abortabraham 2 years ago
The economy as we know it TODAY is dubya's fault! Don't try to twist my words. You don't have to help a soul. It baffles me that republicans are the ones who preach about Christianity, but fail to do the things that God intended us to do. Hence helping others in a time of need, no matter what. If you are a Christian, how can you explain your selfish ways?
You ppl. were against medicare back in the day. Those same ppl. who were against it, are now recipients! Go figure..
whiteliberal1 2 years ago
I am NOT a republican, and I am an ANTI theist. You only care about parties, that is why you don't care about why the system is messed up and don't care about the mechanics behind economics. You make emotional appeals on par with a typical christian when it comes to how the government should spend other people's money. I should be more "compassionate" and just accept christ into my heart, and ignore facts like, economics.
abortabraham 2 years ago
abraham; If you believe in God and the day he judges you, allow me to stand in line when you tell him that, " this was about economics." Never mind a person who has no h/c and is dying as I type. But, you say it boils down to economics?
Try two wars! Try tax cuts for the wealthiest! Try deregualation of wall street! Try turning a surplus into a deficit!
Better yet, try visiting a local ER and finding ppl., who are uninsured, being seen for a earache! Who's going to pay that $600 bill?!
whiteliberal1 2 years ago
"dubya's fault"
it seems like people like you can graduate college without understanding basic economic principles.
try researching "fiat money"
Medicare has trillions in unfunded obligations but you ignore that saying we need more of the same.
Just because you "DON'T MIND" something doesn't mean we can't mind. I do mind that the government is taking away personal liberties.
revenge53142 2 years ago
What personal liberties? Like the ones me and my fellow soldiers left in Countries you can't find on a map?! "Dubya's fault"? Hence starting two wars w/o any care in the world. Try researching; WMD's.
Tax cuts for the wealthiest, etc,, say uncle and I'll stop!
I know you were a teenager when Clinton was POTUS, but did you happen to notice the surplus we had?
No, I "DON'T MIND" spending an extra $ to help the next human. It's not all about me. I learned that in Corps!
whiteliberal1 2 years ago
The freedom to not be obligated to pay for other peoples health services.
I can understand your bet that I would do poorly in geographic knowledge but I assure you I, unlike most Americans, can easily identify the countries we bomb on a map. In fact I have a large world and US map hung on the wall right next to me.
While Clinton did balance the budget, he did nothing to address the trillions in unfunded Medicare liabilities. A point I made which you failed to address.
revenge53142 2 years ago 2
reverend43142;
Who said anything.....about....bombing another Country?
You make points in your mind. If that serves you well, then have at it.
You failed to tell me why it's not "DUBYA'S FAULT"! Remember, you called me out. What role did Clinton play in the demise of today's economy?
Once again; Who said anything about "bombing" other Countries?
whiteliberal1 2 years ago
He took us into a globalization path, created NAFTA, & turned his eyes away from predatory lending from big banks.
Clinton was just as bad as W.
The problem accepting answers from just one side. They are BOTH corrupts. Until we have more choices, we're stuck w/ these two groups of corporate whores.
write.that.down
cheguevara1970 2 years ago
Once again. Why did we have a surplus under his administration and a massive deficit under dubya? It's not that hard to answer, is it?
Write this down and take a picture for all I care. It's what it is.
whiteliberal1 2 years ago
Clinton was much more financially responsible. GOP was willing to pay HUGE taxpayer dollars for nonsense like "file gate" "travel gate" and finally "Monica gate" just to take him down. They're the party of "deficits don't matter" and it makes me ill how they rubber stamp all Dubya's draining of our treasure and started blaiming Obama LITERALLY the day after the election! hypocrites.
k8lennon 2 years ago
Are you ignoring globalization?? NAFTA?? If so, you're just as blind as the Republicans ... if not more.
cheguevara1970 2 years ago
We HAD a budget surplus! What are you talking about? Did NAFTA or "globalization" play a role in the surplus that was left by Clinton? Blind?
Get your weight up son, or shoo!
whiteliberal1 2 years ago
I assume your play on my youtube name is meant as a personal insult, which is disappointing because it shows you don't respect me even if we disagree.
You did when you stated you "served in Panama and the former Yugoslavia "
As I'm sure you're aware those countries were bombed by our military, and regardless of what you claim I can easily identify their location on a map. Bush was much more offensive than Clinton indeed but you again fail to address my point concerning medicare's insolvency.
revenge53142 2 years ago
reverend53142;
As for Clinton's "insolvency" on medicare, I'm sure you have a family member who would differ with your perspective on that.
whiteliberal1 2 years ago
I won't apologize for being consistent. I believe people would do themselves credit by listening to each other and trying to understand where the other person is coming from even if we don't agree.
Would you disagree "senior"?
I haven't served in the armed forces.
Medicare currently has 38 Trillion in unfunded obligations. That's Trillion with a "T". I don't think its acceptable to pass that debt on to my children and their generation. Our kids deserve better in my opinion.
revenge53142 2 years ago 2
I don't recall asking you to apologize for anything.
Would I agree that listening to the other side is adventageous to my overall thought process? Well, it depends. If it's some clown on you-tube who sits around and trolls all day in search of a pointless, strawman argument..........HELL NO!
Talking pts.=passing the debt on to my children.
Our kids also deserve to be covered! It was the republicans who voted against funding the SCHIP program. Don't get me started with the kids!
whiteliberal1 2 years ago
Ok liberal,I think youre saying some people on here aren't intellectually gifted and therefore you can't learn much from them. If so, I'll grant you that point but I still think personally attacking them does little good and is revealing of someone's character.
So it seems you finally address my "strawman" point by identifying it then quickly changing the subject.
How can we trust the Gov to provide healthcare to our citizens when their current plan is on course to bankrupt the entire country?
revenge53142 2 years ago
OK reverend, as always, you continue to guess and "think". The government has been providing h/c for years to American citizens. It's called Medicare! If you're referring to medicare bankrupting the Country, what's taking so long? These are complete fallacies and talking pts. you're using. Come with solid facts and not maybe, could've, should've and probably.
Hard core facts!
Btw; You and your other buddies on this channel can prepare to reap the benefits of the NEW h/c bill!
whiteliberal1 2 years ago
It is unbelievable to me that these Republicans are totally OK with millions uninsured in this country -- as long as it's not THEM or their kids and they are stupid enough to think it never will be.

ASSHOLE SHIT who doesn't deserve to live and should get ass raped then murdered, Chris is asking why heartless fucks like you don't see eye-to-eye with the intelligent, decent Europeans who feel a connection to their fellow man and see it as their responsibility to make sure the people of their society are healthy and happy. How do you sleep at night knowing you're so self-centered?
jfkjrlover 2 years ago
See my point whiteliberal?
This kind of thing doesn't add to the discussion or help us understand each others opinions or how we justify our views.
This person says i should be raped and murdered. Would you agree that it is a good idea to be civil and respectful of others?
revenge53142 2 years ago
Why don't heartless fucks like you see eye-to-eye with the intelligent, decent Maoists who feel a connection to their fellow man and see it as their responsibility to make sure the people of their society are fed and happy. How do you sleep at night knowing you're so self-centered? Nationalize food production! Food is just as important as healthcare, it can't be any more difficult for the government to handle! Let the government dole out food, no one will starve! See how pathetic you are, jfk?
abortabraham 2 years ago
Yes I undestand your point, but when the government takes money out of your paycheck and "gives it out to the less fortunate" you feel a lot better. How about you do that on your own accord?
Food is so cheap because of the free market. The competition is what keeps prices so low.
TO have the Government nationalize something should be the last resort. It gives us less incentive to work and take care of each other.
And if the government giveth food so easily they can take it away as well.
BigBoss1991 2 years ago
@BigBoss1991
So do subsidies exist for corn and soy?
Do food stamps exist?
Now while I can understand the argument that "Monopolies are bad"
If government truly is the most efficient option for the consumer. Is that really such a bad result for the consumer.
(And please don't give me the absolutist bullshit that that's impossible.)
greyflcn 2 years ago
@BigBoss1991
Or rather to reiterate.
Monopolies are bad, public or private.
Since they are non-competitive.
However that's not an argument to say that government shouldn't even be allowed to offer a competing program in parallel to private.
Since that's increasing competition.
greyflcn 2 years ago
The government is not increasing competition. They are forcing insurance companies to stop discriminating. This is okay for big insurance companies that have a lot of money, but if you go to a small insurance company (the few that can jump the regulatory hoops), you CANNOT deny people, meaning the rates are going to go up or they will go bust. The "public option" is the destruction of choice because it is not just "another insurance company", it is designed to kill everything else off.
abortabraham 2 years ago
@abortabraham
Incidentally, I'd actually take the other tact on this issue
Consider that while there is a mandate on the Supply side of the market. (i.e. Can't use pre-existing conditions)
There's also a mandate on the Demand side of the market
Likely there's not much stopping someone from using the cheapest qualifying program they can find, while they are healthy
And then switching to a more comprehensive one, the moment they get a serious illness.
Plenty of business for small plans there
greyflcn 2 years ago
The mandate on the demand side is: buy the insurance or pay a fine. Let assume the insurance is (artificially) cheaper than the fine, its only going to herd the masses into the few existing plans left, those plans are separated from profit and loss, and will eventually degrade because there is no way to control cost other than to raise rates (or lower salaries) I.e. central planning. Then the free market will be blamed for that, and in comes "pick a number and wait in line".
abortabraham 2 years ago
Hey there is something called the Anti-trust exemption which health care companies have. If it were across state lines it would presumably make more competition.
Adding a public option would presumably increase competition but take a look at unfunded liabilities. We have 106 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Enough said.
We haven't tried all the options and we are talking about adding another entitlement. We can't fun what we already have. What makes you think we can afford a public option?
BigBoss1991 2 years ago
You realize in the present system the average american pays more for health care compared to the citizens of 36 other countries ranked above the US on the WHO's list. The US also averages the most spent as a country on health care.

Ahh well, up to this point, there isn't much "factual" evidence you can produce to prove that the US health care system is better than France. Damn those French, always surrendering in war huh?
