  • Achtung Baby one of the best albums of all time.

  • best song ever by the best band in the world.

  • One of my favourite U2 songs, hidden away on Rattle and Hum. Don't think they've ever performed it live. Absolute bliss. The way it takes off at 1:40...

  • U2 is the vessel of the Joshua Tree - an epic and timeless album. The songs in this album are forever truly amazing works of art. and poetry.

  • I've literally had this song on repeat on Windows Media Player for the past eight hours, and I am STILL not tired of it. It is an excellent song, and probably the most underrated song and most unheard song by U2.

What a beautiful piece of work!

  • I remember this song so much, I made a mix tape with this on for my girlfriend, ( now my wife of 20 yrs ), and played it over and over. Eighties U2 when they were at their absolute best b4 everyone decided they all had to save the planet an sell out!!

Geniais!!

  • This song inspired me to visit Graceland, from the Rattle and Hum video. Try it, it's a surreal experience.

  • Cette chanson me donne envie de pleurer... Mais elle est tellement belle

  • perfect

  • This has always been one of my favourites..,..

  • this song is amazing..it takes your breath...

  • One of their best and underrated!!! (one more!!!!)

  • Very spiritual and powerful song

  • U2 in their prime, jesus, they were second to none. Incredible vocal, stunning guitar, always were the ones to beat. Maybe they should have stopped a few years ago to keep the purity of what they achieved but who knows.....

  • @whelanttt so fkn true!!!!!

  • uh.....ok maybe the more recent lp's aren't on par w/ war, unforgettable fire etc, but they all have great songs. heck that 'moment of surrender' song is incredible from the new record....

  • @whelanttt they were to simple minds my friend when it comes to innovative music !!

  • @sweetassugar69 god bless ol' Jim Kerr and the boys, they are still rolling....

  • @whelanttt

I guess they're back with something called "Disappearing Act" ... It is just EPIC

  • @whelanttt

    I agree 100% with you.

However although some of their most recent stuff is not at the level of their 80's and early 90's, I still enjoy songs like Stay (Faraway, So Close) or even Walk On.

I also enjoyed lots No Line on The Horizon. Again, no comparison, two completely different bands but still rocking music.

    Peace

  • @whelanttt I take it you have not really heard much U2 since then? They are still top of there game and i think there best work is still to come. They blow me away with every album and when i see them live i always walk away in awe. That is just my thoughts everybody has there own i suppose. :)

  • @whelanttt they are like the best wine in the world best at the beginning but growing even beyond comparason with the years thank god if there ever was one for giving us these angel like inspired artists. everytime you think theyre tired of it they come back and blow me away again. i feel proud and blessed i saw them twice already in concert . they are sooooo much even better live than on record. proof of theyre true geniality the more you study them the better they get what messages...

  • my favorite U2 song since I was 5. I'm now 20. :)

  • everything said b 4 such a hidden gem of a track, love this tune and it never gets a mention

  • THis song should be all over the air waves!!!!!!! It is simply spell-binding!!! Magic! To me, if you want a song to take you to a place and actually make you want to live in it, this is it!

  • Couldn't agree more. A perfect blend of lyric, tempo, arrangement - an evocative soundscape indeed...

  • Heaven knows...this is a heartland (heart-la-aand)

    Heaven knows...this is a heartland

  • in the rattle and hum album cd, this song is normal or it is mixed with the film(bono and larry talking)?

  • It's normal song with no talking over it...

  • Is the standard version, without talking. The songs in the rattle and hum cd album are different with the Dvd songs.

  • One of my fav Rattle And Hum songs!

  • good song; I never watched it live

Suerte.

  • hey thumb a lift there edge !! for charlotte jacksn x

  • I don't know why, but seeing the dead joshua tree makes me incredibly sad. It seems like the end of an era, you know?

  • a beautiful song, almost as good as With or Without You.

  • Joshua Tree...my first album...love it

  • Thanks! A truly great U2 song.

  • I searched this song for a long time and now i hear this! thank u dude :)

  • Best song on Rattle and Hum..haunting

  • Great song, thanks for posting it!

I live about 2 hours away from that Joshua tree.

rumor is that it is gone, hope not. When I have time I'll have to go looking for it!

  • haha!! funny, i went right to this one from the inxs video!!!! this is one of my top 10 favorite u2 songs. it's beautiful.

i hear they kept the actual tree used on the album a secret... wanting to keep people from getting to it... i heard that on a documentary. but it wouldn't surprize me if it was somehow gone..

  • Gorgeous song.

  • i have the honour to listen this live.

at the joshua tour in roterdam.

    great song.

  • I used to play "Where the Streets Have No Name" as I drove to grad school in the 1980s. The main guitar riff would kick in about the time I got on the highway. U2's songs, whether set in Ireland, America, or someplace else, are about the journey, the quest, the desire for adventure and meaning. They are consistent with Irish legends, Christian and pre-Christian.

  • this is my favorite song, it is sad that they never play it live.

  • No, probably not about Ireland. Perhaps about the end of a love affair and new sights (if not insights ~ Ha! do we ever learn?) and sounds searing their way into consciousness from the stunning backdrop of Arizona ~ a kind of road movie experience ~ whatever ~ I think it's a powerful song by Bono and beautifully sung too.

  • definitely a song about America, but whats great about music is you can make it what ever you want. This is one powerful song. If you ever have the opportunity to drive across the United States be sure to have U2 Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum and Achtung Baby for good measure. And be sure to stop pull over get out and take in a moment with this beautiful land.

  • Ok guys, if you think this song has to do with Ireland, then you're not understanding the lyrics.

    T

his is clearly a song about America. If you live in America and listen to the lyrics, you'll see why immediately. The references to highway 66, dry deserts, Mississippi,Death Valley (California), and even the title itself (Heartland) are things that clearly describe the US. Last time I checked, there was no Mississippi, Death Valley, dry deserts, or HW 66 in Ireland.

  • what does it matter. where it is. al wat matters arre the words.

  • Gracias X compartilo conmigo,Ger!!!!

  • ONE GEM OF A SONG

Increible, te lleva a otro lugar.

  • Asi es...

  • @SuPerMeL0n uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • @SuPerMeL0n

  • U2 = God Given :o)

    Heartland = Scotland :o)

  • I don't thiiink sooooo

Heartland=Ireland .. and there is no god, end of story :p

  • Oh, I was drunk when I posted this last week :o) Of course Heartland = Ireland

Should have said my Heartland = Scotland

....don't know about your God comment though........lol

  • I think that you are both drunk.

    Hint: The Joshua Tree. Hello?

  • "Mississippi and the cotton wool heat

    Sixty-six the highway that speaks"

Oh yeah right...they're talking about Ireland!!! Call yourselves U2 fans...Go and listen to the lyrics..they are obviously talking about the USA. I dont think soooooooo Get a Life

  • Sorry, USA baby! "66 a highway speaks" good ole USA.

  • 4.17 - Edge = God?

  • Really nice visuals for a gorgeous song. Well done.

  • Agreed, this has been one of my favourite R&H song. Everytime i listen to it i've got tears in my eyes and feel completely melancholic - no other song manages this after such a long time.

  • This song is so beautiful
