how can the church give absolution for murderers or criminals? because it was in the tradition of church to be corrupted with the absolutions (the nobles payed out the church - before Lutherism came to existance - so they could wash away their sins...). In a sense church is the most corrupted institution...or maybe defacto corrupted. They absolve your sins (if you are a gangster,for example) ,but you have to give them some type of donations or whatever... disgusting
