Had they just said to either Conan or Jay that they are going to have to lose one of them and they decided to drop (insert your choice here).... They would have been better off. They messed with the time slot and format of the Tonight Show and THAT was responsible for any money losses, if any.

I like Conan O'Brien and thought his Late Night show was way better than both Leno and Letterman, for that matter,, but his Tonight Show was never as good as his Late Night show. And he was also losing to Letterman in the ratings which is what prompted the move to go back with Leno followed by O'Brien, which was the winning formula at the time. I don't blame Leno for going back because a gig is a gig.

O'Brien and a others think the Tonight Show is a birthright, when in fact, it is a job!

When Leno first got the Tonight Show he bombed for almost three years until he found a fan base. Conan wasn't even on for a full year and because of Leno his, the news, and Jimmy Fallon's ratings were brought down. NBC panicked and tried to shift the timeslot back to Leno which caused the whole fiasco to begin with.

Leno has been number one because of the shows NBC has had. Not because he's ~so funny. NBC made a business deal because it was less money to get rid of Conan, and they have an obsession with beating Letterman - even by just a little, which is where they are now. LENO is to blame for going back.
