  • its not free

  • @ironmaidenpwns11... just checked, yup, still FREE.

For whatever reason Daz doesn't make it easy to find the free version. Since version 3 they have been offering a paid version which they do make easy to find.

Here's the thing... locating the free version isn't that hard if you put a little effort into it. And if you can't figure out how to download the free version then maybe 3D graphics isn't for you. Because without a doubt it's harder than downloading a program.

  • thanks man its really cool

  • thumbs up if ur watching this in 15 october 2011

  • Tnx man helped a lot:D

  • I'm making T.O.M. TOONAMI FOR THE WIN.

    thanks dude

  • thanks so much , I love making animations.

  • @Joshpitts101 me too like making animation

  • cool, super cool

  • been waiting for my verification email for about 3 minutes now but all these comments are making me think its worth the wait. ill post with what i think of it.

  • Just to clarify something up for the kids, I know someone has asked this or is hesitant to and is just going to skip the product. You go through checkout but since the charge is 0.00 you don't even need a credit card or paypal account. I don't think I even gave them my add.ress

  • @onlycrit1995 that was helpful as i am 13 and don't have a way to earn money Lol thanks

  • sweet man your amazing.

  • Good job!

  • thumbs up if your watching this in 2011

  • The best thing on my computer

  • thanks man finally someone that helpt me really thank u thank u !!!!!!

  • thanks man !!!!!!

  • Finally, GOOD animation software thats FREE!!!

  • nice

  • Hey thats me LOL 0:27

  • i love that dinosor

  • wow!!! that's great.... what kind of files I can import in DAZ Studio?

  • @GabrielTocaJesus. assuming you're referring to 3D models I've had the best luck with .obj files. There are many free 3D objects at places like Renderosity and TurboSquid.

  • So why doesn't this video say anything about Linux ?

Linux has tons of free software. I use Linux Ubuntu and Linux Mint .

  • @maw88ify, because Linux is a very small segment of what people use and as far as I know Daz Studio is only available for Windows and Mac. The Linux community can offer far better support as to what it would take to get this running that I could.

  • @LiquidMonkeyBrain The world best, and largest 3D software company Autodesk Collaborates With DreamWorks and Imageworks on Mudbox for Linux ... November 18, 2009

Autodesk also make Maya 3D for Linux

RealFlow is also made for Linux

Houdini is also made for Linux

Pixar's RenderMan is also made for Linux

    and more ...

So why is Daz Studio NOT made for Linux ?

  • @maw88ify, note I said what people use, not what professionals in the graphics field use. This is software for the masses and the masses use Windows. If you want to ask someone why it isn't made for Linux write to Dan Farr at Daz maybe he can help you out.

  • @LiquidMonkeyBrain O.k. I would except that answer...

but "Blender 3D" is not professional software , and it free ...

and it's made for Linux , Windows, and Mac.

  • @maw88ify, if you read the comments here I've recommended Blender in some cases. It's awesome software in some regards, but I think Daz Studio is more accessible to the average person. And the average person runs Windows.

Believe me, I have nothing against Linux. I'm a software developer and I prefer Linux to Windows for web app development. I just think that anyone determined to get Daz Studio running under Linux probably already knows how to go about it or can call on the Linux community.

  • Thx alot "Sparky" :D

  • @Sajack67, glad to have helped. :)

  • that guy is COOL!!!!!! I SUBED

  • can i make my characters?

  • @TheDDpvt, the short answer is yes. The long answer is the learning curve is kinda steep, check on the Daz forums for more info about how to proceed.

  • thankyou so much :D

  • OH MY GOD THAT DINOSAUR THING SCARED ME

  • @reissecup, actually he's a dragon.

  • i hate it

  • @angelsara100, it's not for everyone. Blender is another free program but the learning curve is steep. Good luck.

  • omg i just finished downloading and am using the program.. ty! don`t know why everyone is so clueless XD you should just stop responding to stupid Q

    :P

  • @dadapopa, you wouldn't believe how many I just delete. I think Daz could make the program easier to download and easier to find the serial number, but it's not really that hard. My feeling is that if you can't find it and get the serial you probably won't be able to use the program anyway, so oh well.

  • omg that dinosour is like gonna give me night mares tonight

  • @gurlygirl347, you're lucky he gives me nightmares EVERY night.

  • this is what it takes to make a pixar movie? FUCK.

  • @LuigiMario299, actually Daz Studio uses the same render engine as Pixar. Of course Pixar has render farms, etc.

  • i am thinking of making an animation for my friend for her birthday. cant wait to give it a shot.

  • @jadegirl3331, awesome! Good luck.

  • is this only animation program? you have to make models with some other program?

  • Blender is still so much better if you get to know it.

  • @Wireheadking, so is 3D Studio Max or Maya. But that's not the point. In the realm of free 3D programs this is the easiest to get started with.

  • this thing can go f it self its so,o not free

  • @TheRomHead, pretty tired of hearing this kind of comment. I'll make you the same offer I've made to offers: if you can show me where the basic version of Daz Studio costs money I'll buy it for you. I've made this offer probably hundreds of times and no one has ever been able to show me where they charge for the program. I have it from Dan Farr, the president of Daz that the basic version of Daz Studio will ALWAYS be free.

  • :O Cool

  • Wao, A lot people keep asking for serial number and ended up getting check the more info box ... I check it and it ask for log in or register ... I registered the website and now what ? Wait for the serial number ?

  • @night00glider, when I go to the link I provided in the "More Info" on this video I get a page with the serial number on it. If people can't follow a link to get the serial number I don't think there's anything more I can do to help.

  • @LiquidMonkeyBrain Aw man ..

  • @night00glider, what's the problem? Before you're registered you get the log in or register message because you're not logged in. After you register and log in and go to the link I posted in the more info section there's the serial code.

  • @LiquidMonkeyBrain Actually I already did register and log in but there's a time limit, free for 1 month ... I thought it would be free forever ,only need to buy the sample or package from the web ... But unfortunately I have to pay for the software too ,so I just stop using it for now ...

  • @night00glider, yes the ADVANCED version is only a 30 day trial, but the BASIC is FREE - FOREVER. If you're a beginner at 3D the Basic version will hold you for years. Seriously, years. By the time you're actually ready for advanced you'll know if you want to buy it or try another software package.

When I started the program was still in beta. I made this youtube video in the early 1.x days. The current basic version is easily 10x more powerful and full of features.

  • @LiquidMonkeyBrain wait a minute, basic is forever ?? Where is it ?? It seems I open the wrong the page in that website as it only offer the advanced which really confusing :-/

  • @night00glider, I'll try to guide you the best I can...

    - Go to the daz3d.com site

    - Across the top nav bar there is a button... "3D Software" click it.

    - Another page opens and there's a vertical nav menu, click "Download Daz Studio"

    - Another page opens. Choose the PC or Mac download from CNET.

    - This takes you to CNET where you can download the program.

You should be golden from there.

  • @LiquidMonkeyBrain Is it Daz studio 3 ? version 3.1.2.32 ? I don't remember which one I download but I give it a try, if it doesn't work I ask you again okay ?

  • @night00glider, I don't know what you already have but it usually tells you that you must uninstall any previous version. I've never had a problem with this as it always leaves any installed content I have in intact. But if you've created multiple Runtime folders (more of an advanced thing really) you will need to re-define them in your "Preferences" menu. Otherwise, if you uninstall the old version and install the latest to the same place any content you've installed should just work.

  • @LiquidMonkeyBrain aw man I forgot the serial number, do I have to ask Daz website for a new serial number ?? Or use my old serial number (which I have completely forgotten)

  • @night00glider, just go to the link in the "more info" section of the video and it will give you YOUR serial number.

That's something I think a lot of people may be missing. Your serial number is associated with your Daz account, that's why I can't give anyone a serial number - the only one I have access to is MINE.

  • help full

  • Free my ass!

  • @fuzzymeapman, I'm sorry your ass has been imprisoned, but I don't think I can help you with that.

  • I love ur show

  • Its not free anymoree it ended on the 15th of june or july cant remember lols

soo dont ask for it anymore

  • @dragonsbut, sorry, you're incorrect. The basic version is free and according to Dan Farr, the president of Daz, it always will be.

  • hey I get an error when I try to startup Daz studios and problem is "DAZ Studio requires at least OpenGL version 1.3. and blah blah blah

    any help pls?

  • @spalicean, you need to update your video card, or maybe if you're lucky just the driver.

  • hey liquid monkey braine, thnx for th vid and sum ppl are idiots they don't read but as for me i am not planning on wasting your time asking dumb questions except thissin how are you doing today? lol jk take it easy.

  • can you add your own models into it?

  • @ModMeToday, yes.

  • very nice dino LOL

  • epic dino thing

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF GETTING SERIAL NUMBER: 1. follow the link in the "more info" description below the video you just watched. 2. Now that your on that website, create an account and then check your email for varification. 3. once your varified, you should end up back at the website and it should give you the serial number on that page. so there you go! :)

  • @8691man, thanks for adding that.

  • Man this is very interesting! =)

  • when rendering the animation how long does it take as long as blender or what

    ?

  • @cooldude89012, how long a frame takes to render depends on MANY factors. How many 3D objects, lighting (and shadows), size of the frame, how fast your computer is, etc. I've had frames take 2 seconds to render and I've had frames take over night to render. Then multiple that time by how many frames per second you're rendering, then multiple that by how many seconds in a shot. This video is about 1 minute long at 30 frames per second, so that equals 1800 frames to render.

  • BAHAHAHAHAHA! liquid monkey brain....

  • nice....for a liquid monkey brain!!

    lol jk :)

  • thanks this helped!! and it works!!

  • is it free

  • Thank you for showing me this great program! im really new to animation but i love it to death. Thank you! <3 i3

  • lol. nice vid :))

  • thanks i gonna try it up ^^

  • What's everyone complaining about? I clicked the link signed up and got a serial number in less than 2 minutes. Just take a second to look around, If you can't spend the time to look for a few numbers then don't bother trying to animate.

  • @tofoogi, yup, I agree.

  • can you make your own figure?

  • @m4r7ijn, yes it's possible, but it's way out of the scope of this comments page to explain. Visit the Daz forum for more info.

  • wow :D thanks. You are nice 9

  • Thanks,

this helped me i rated 5/5 and subbed good video

  • wow thanks i got spuggles though even WEAPONS! now im going to look for Toon Alien

  • thx man soo cool ly

  • can you just please give me the serial no. don't tell me to look at the discription

  • @randuumvideos, no I can't because it's generated for each user.

  • does daz studio work 4 vista?

  • @killer619ify, yes. It also works with Windows 7.

  • man you poor poor thing :( this people just won't quite with the questions ? You know wat i'll take it from here take your break i'll take on these abuser's

  • does it only last 30 days

  • @UncleRed1234567, no, it's a free program.

  • omg hes right its soo easy to find !

  • Thanx dude ;)

  • it works and i got a serial number

  • CCOOOOOOLL

    nice video thanks for uploading,

rated 5 stars and subscribed too.

  • Nice info thanks

  • Well, i think i'm already stuck.

I sort of wanted to download spuggles.

I did, but i don't know how to import content into daz. I've read a couple tutorials and the were explained very clear. But i just didn't understand he poser part. Maybe that is beceause i'm just a 12 year old dutch kid.

Well however, i think i can do this if i just take enough time.

My question is, what is poser?

  • @givebackmycookie, Poser is another program similar to Daz Studio but it's not free and the interface is harder to use, IMO.

  • the PROGRAM is free but every thing like people backdrops and every thing else takes money

  • @easytoremember4831, that's not true. Yes, you can buy content but there are literally 1000's and 1000's of free objects you can download to use with Daz Studio.

  • The dino is kinda cute :P.

  • Wow, that seems really cool... I'm very much into animation, but I've only used 2D animations on Photoshop CS2 or just on transparent paper. I've never done 3D animation, I'll look into it.

PS: Is it really true that the computer puts in the in-between poses? That's incredible! Although I think I wouldn't trust it to do everything right xD.

  • @kyrakyramyra, yes the computer will do the tweening for you, but you're right in that sometimes it's not perfect. It will take the most direct path between the 2 poses, so in some cases you have to add extra poses to get the tweening right. Also, since making this video Daz has vastly improved the animation tools.

  • @LiquidMonkeyBrain Cool, I actually ended up using

Blender instead of Daz, although soon I'll be switching to Maya.

Since leaving that comment I've learned a lot about 3D animation. I'm still an amateur, but I'm improving significantly. In fact, I'll be studying animation in college next year.

  • @kyrakyramyra, Blender is a good piece of software, glad it worked for you.

  • Awesome video. I'm installing the full verison right now :)

  • Cool video!

  • how do you get sound? do you record it and put it in the video? thanks! :D

  • @isubcrazy, you can use a free program like Audacity to record your sound.

  • it's madly good thank s suthor

  • can you do this an a mac

  • @TheShitanimations, yes there is a Mac version.

  • thanks spary im a big fan of da vids and cant wait to make my own

  • Oh, i figured out ^^

    Thank u SO MUCH! <3

  • thaks!

  • nice :)

  • DUDE TNX A LOT HEHEE NIC DINASAUR

  • cool! do you use daz studio for that animation?

  • @flambo99, yes.

  • Im installing this software now. Cant wait to try it out

  • thank you

  • LOL @ :28, "Hey, that's me!" Good video!!

  • HAHA nice im in

  • umm, lol.

  • Lol Mr.Dinasour !

  • This video helped me alot. =]

  • he is cool

  • hes cool ^^

  • ty so much

  • how u make ur sounds so clear? like when i speak into my mic, i hear so many be bh or something like that... do u use some software to clear or reduce noises and also change ur voice? plz reply thx

  • @Iodine12345, you should be able to get passable results with a decent USB mic. Personally I use a pro quality condenser mic through an external audio interface and record into Audacity. Unfortunately, that's just how my voice sounds, and I have to live with it. Just kidding, I do a lot of different voices, but Sparky gets a little pitch boost to get him up that high, but I can get close to sounding like him without software help after a few adult beverages.

  • thanks for posting this...I now have to do my own promo for Daz3D

  • LOL ROFL FUNNY THANKS SUB 5/5 FAV

  • it looks sorta like you just used spore for animating it but spore wasn't out yet so great job on the animation. props

  • dude we have to buy most of the moddles for this

  • @Clonecommander12, yes you can buy models, but it isn't necessary as there are literally 10,000+ free models out there you could use.

  • Fuck that!! 3DsMax will own your Program Mr.Brain

  • @ValugaTheLord, LOL. Of course it will. If it wouldn't no one would pay $3500 for 3D Studio Max. You high end guys crack me up.

  • That's cool, thank you. I've signed up, got my free code and now downloading Daz Studio. Looking forward to trying it out and when I get something up I'll post video comment here.

  • Well this was nice,I tried DAZ,but I hate it!3ds max is better!

  • @Blackholedudeman. For $3500 it better be better! Personally, I'd take the ease of the Daz interface and spend the $3500 on 3D assets, but that's just me.

  • LOL gotta go bi- LOL

  • can u plz post the files for the dino figure?

  • No, they aren't mine to distribute. They are free at the Daz site. Go to forum and ask where to find "Spuggles" and someone will help you out.

  • thx

  • too bad, the download from cnet has been removed :S

  • If it has that's not a bad thing at all. You wouldn't believe the volume of comments I have to deal with concerning how to download the software or get the serial number. I'm not an employee of Daz, I don't get paid to do technical support, yet I must have answered questions about it 1000's of time. So if they are finally hosting it themselves again I'm glad.

  • if anyone has the serial number post it here

  • Look in the "more info" section next to the video.

  • LOL i dont have it yet but i want it it locks cool

  • dude i went to the website i cant find the serial key!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't know what to tell you, last time I looked it was easy to find. Yep, just checked again, simple. Don't know what the issue is.

  • i get this error when i try to install it:

the installation path for DAZ studio could not be found. "3D Bridge" cannot be installed. Setup will now quit.

  • Sounds like you were installing the 3D Bridge product not Daz studio. Ask on the Daz forums, someone will get you fixed up.

  • i can't find the serial number and I'm having trouble accessing the account. -_-

  • Look in the "more info" area next to the video.

  • Can I draw people and animate it

  • Not with this software, this is 3D. There is some good stuff for what you're talking about but it's not free. Try looking into Anime Studio or Toon Boom. Good luck.

  • Is This ur voice? Or its included to the software?

  • @MaykelKapersky, it's my voice with a little audio tweaking to pitch it up higher.
