i've got three Herschede 9-tube clocks, and you really do have to tinker with them alot to get them right, most of them i've heard in other places dont sound all that great because they are out of adjustment, yours sounds very good
Just wanted to take a moment to congratulate you on owning this clock. It is stunning, and the chime tubes have the best sound I have ever heard for a clock with tublar bells, not clangy like most out there. You have made this clock fan very jealous! Enjoy it.
Hello, thank you VERY much for the extremely kind words. I'm not an expert in chime sound technology, but I'm guessing that ALL tubular chimes can sound this good if the owner simply takes the time to properly setup and adjust the mechanism. The hammers need good leather covering them, the "hammer to chime tube distance" must be carefully set so you get one clean contact strike each time the hammer falls, etc, etc, etc. Sometime it just takes a lot of tinkering until you finally get it right.
I love clocks but these ones take up way too much space....:-)

Amazing construction of this clock! All that heavy brass at 0:45 is wonderful., especially in an era of Made in China junk.
