Pure nostalgia !! The numbers from between 1955 and 1957 take me back to my National Service days in the RAF. All the songs in this excellent presentation are so well remembered.
Sheer nostalgia you bring back memories of the "Golden Age" of popular music. Back then I was a presenter {D.J's were unknown then} and this selection reminds me so much of those long ago programmes: Broadcast on the great Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier HMS ILLUSTRIOUS, I even managed to carry my programmes when I transferred to Submarines - Well! we played them on the depot ship HMS MONTCLARE -Happy Days thanks for the memory Allan the Music Man of Melody Mixture
Thanks, mate, whoever you are. That was a wonderful ten minutes down the memory lane of my childhood and earliest teenage years. Shall watch it again. The BBC could never have done this, you're a genius! Thanks again.
@ianwellsuk. WEell I don't quite have the tech that the BEEB have. my next vid will be packed with memories, watch this space. Thanks for viewing and that you enjoyed the vid.
THAT WAS JUST DANDY RECALLING RHOSE DAYS OF INNOCENT CHILDHOOD BUT ONE PHOTO WAS 20YRS KATER, THAT WAS THE POLICE MAN WITH HIS H REG;D 1970 PANDA MAYBE HE WENT BACK IN TIME WITH THE TARDIS AND DR WHO, OR BACK TO THE FUTURE. OTHERWISE GREAT STUFF
@TheShankspony Thats the second time i've been pulled for that one. no offence taken I did try to find out the year but nobody seemed to know. I will be brininging a new out soon with more interesting pics. Thanks for youyr valued comment and for viewing.
I'm happy you found the vid interesting, I will bve making another vid with a greater variety of pics. It just shows how a big war can bring people and progress together after it ends with the greatest respect to all who laid down there lives. The thirty years after the W11 were most ionic and a pleasure to have lived through. Thanks for viewing and your valued comment.
@Snoopythack1 The two little girls with the same dresses on with a pattern of wheel barrows with flowers in, i had the same dress. I loved that dress.
@349quinman. I always said i would never have a computer up to 3 years ago, before that I used my brain to create my own entertainment. It was a good time to grow up, you're right. Thanks for viewing and thanks for the comment.

just listening to jimmy shand. ah me. i was born in 1945 and my parents were both 19 then we had sing songs and dances in the living room all through the fifties and start of the sixties. the also had another eight kids. i remember my dad always singing hey round the corner. my mums was the tennesee waltz. great times. feel sorry for the kids now adays its much harder for them. thanks for posting these lovely memories. x
@stewmar1946. Jimmy Shand was the last program on the telly( BBC ) on new years eve and went on for an hour until 1 in the mornig followed by the queen then the test card, the extention was mall we had. The pubs had kicked out all the drunks, remember? last orders at 11, drink up at 1130 and all out by 1230 just enough time to sing AULD LANG SYNE. Those were the days. Thanks for viewing, glad you enjoed the vid.
Im 34 so i didnt get to live thru this era, i really enjoyed your vid it gave me an idea of what things were like when my mum was growing up..wished she could have seen this, thanks for taking time to post.
@kay3074.The 1950s was a great decade as the UK was still picking its self up after the war ended in 1945, It was also a decade of change where old items of the previous 1940s were put aside and new desines and technologies appeared out went the wind up gramaphone and in came the radiogram with an automatic record deck. Although television was going in America from the 40s it eventually arrived hear. I watched the opening of ATV and the first episode of Corri st and lots of other programs.
@kay3074. So, towards the end of the 50s out went the kind of music you hear on this vid and in came the rock n roll era of the sixties the best 20 years of my life. Things started to go down hill from the 70s when the then labour prime minister Harold Wilson devalued the pound twice then wend decimal everyones life changed from that point, a packet of chewing gum went from sixpence to 5 new pence the old shilling which was double the price. Thanks for viewing.
@NickRatnieks. Hi, My mother used to sing A Round the Corner too but is was the Jo Stafford version but i like both versions, Nellie the Elephant was always played on childrens hour on the radio. Anyway I'm glad you liked the vid. Thanks for viewing.
@Snoopythack1 My mother still tries to sing a bit! I had a Hillman Husky- a Corgi toy- and it had a friction motor in it- as did a Bedford van I had. I suppose a friction motor was Hi-tech back then!
@fishbelch. I had this pic in with my 50s collection but I couldn't find out what year the registration number was, so, now i know. Thanks for the info but there isn't much i can do about it now. I hope you enjoyed the vid.
