  • That was awesome

  • Thumbs up :)

  • wow nice! very smooth

  • I'm trying to transcribe this drumline but I'm having trouble with the 6th bar. If you listen to the guitar only it clearly sounds like a 6/4 (or 4/4 + 2/4). However, when you try to figure out the drum fill for it it somehow seems like a 5/4.....!!! Any help?? If not, does anyone have the music sheet for this piece? Thanks!

  • Being a Rush fan this a frigin awesome. GREAT Job man.

  • amazing!!!

  • nice job dude..

  • to tesoromountain: if you're going to criticize someone that can play extremely well in a negative way, than you'd better be able to play better than what they did otherwise please don't act like you're neil peart himself.

  • Not playing it right at 1:58. Everybody forgets or misses the tom between the snare beats. Decent playing.

  • simply amazing

  • hey man, can i ask you 1 question?, wich tipe of camara do u use to record your cover videos, i mean: is it full hd (1080)?

  • love the cover!:)

-Just wondering, would u be able to cover this on a basic 5 peice kit? Cos my mate want's too know, and i don't think you'd be able. But i thought i'd ask you.

  • hey mike im just starting out in drums ( buying first kit this week) and i was wondering if you got any tips? or if anyone dose for that matter =p

  • @acdcyoyoer Hi Mate! Nice to hear another one joins our forces :) we'll sure I have many advices you can choose from: buy yor first kit from second hand > the reason: you get much more, you can actually tests these drums at your private place and may be not like it's sound and return it to theseller, what you cannot do if you purchase in a store. Second, wear ear plugs every drum session, they make the overall sound much better and seriously helping you protect your ears! - I help u any time.:)

  • @acdcyoyoer Me again..:) miss me? haha ok tip 3 ask your friends to take some pictures you while drumming, and with a big grin smile (Sticks Up In The Air..) to let your parents see and believe what is just, realy making you happy!!... tip 4 try to record your drumming sessions in a manner that you could analize your technique later on and make the appropriate adjustments. have a difficult time getting a drum track download audacity, and lower the tempo- you will comprehand its structure better.

  • @drumvisio thanks man .ill remember that i appreciate it !!

  • Can somebody give advice, or help me, please? See, I have just a plain 5-piece drum set, and it sounds alright, I don't really care about the sound of it. But the thing is, I want to upgrade to something with a little more value to it, like add some higher toms, a splash and a ride. But is there a way I can do that without spending a fortune?

  • @jerrythepotato1919 Search on google who to make octobans, isn't that expensive, and if you do it right, it sounds amazing (: also you can obviusly buy an splash, but if you buy a ultra cheap one, isn't gonna sound thaaaaaat great.. you choose (:

  • nice drumming mate

  • If u have money u can buy enough to make u sound ok.. this is just a rich guy sounding ok..

  • @BWFSabian Hes amazing? Get out

  • THIS IS EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • excellent job. nice touch with the glockenspiel.

  • What's the point of having the music in the background?

  • @RulerOFmany Cause it's kind of boring to just hear the drums.

  • @Tb0neZ5 But I came here for just the drums.

  • i saw the glockenspiel ad knew this was going to be good :D and it was, very

  • interesting snare/hihat playing style :D

  • Hey Man , Great drumming , I'm Inspired to become a drum tutor , your a very big influence , Could I Just ask a Few tips on Teaching , and also How much did your whole set up cost roughly ?

  • hey what are the notes on the glockenspiel??? thanks :)

  • your videos are extremely impressive, im a drummer along with a die hard rush fan, i wish i had half the talent you did, nice job on everything, all the fills were there and you even went all out with the glock bells haha

  • Good Job Bro!!!

  • wait a second, i just noticed you're not neil peart

    coulda fooled me XD

  • @FreakinKoolMedia i think its the hat XD

  • thumbs up!,..rockn' the cd's off the wall. :)

I have learned alot from this vid,.thx

  • Amazing!

  • How do you count the 9/16 fill at beginning of the song with the flow you have? Im trying to learn this song from the book and that kinda thing throws me off. thanks in advance mike.

  • Wow....as a complete amateur drummer, I thought I had found Neat Braatz for my Rush covers.....But I have to say you school him! Nicely done, you have found a new fan! Keep up the great work

  • neil peart is the most creative and skilled drummer out there hands down...anyone who can do a cover of his stuff is good in my books, nice job buddy.

  • GREAT job, Mike. You even have a real glockenspeil,

which really ads to the spirit of this great song!!

  • I subscribed cuz of this video... amazing.

  • Love the cover!

I am really jealous of your setup. Care to post a video of how your toms and cymbals are mounted and placed on the floor? Would love it, take care!

  • you use the mirror to watch you self play drums i do the same thing, great drumming man =]

  • @ACDCman1727 actually, I cannot see myself in that mirror, I can see the door of my studio behind that has a glass wondow, and I can see when a client, or student shows up...... :)

  • @mikemichalkowdrums Or an axe murderer.

  • Mike , me again,,,what can I say, dude you obiviously have been a rush fan for a very long time, cause you know that their material isn,t learned and perfected overnight.. man you got Neil pegged Bro.... awesome work!!!!!!!

  • what notes are you playing on the glockenspiel?

  • that stare at yourself in the mirror at the end was well deserved, sir. you were thinking to yourself, "I AM Neal peart," weren't you? Awesome, absolutely awesome. thank you for helping keep the spirit alive!

  • @n2112bytor2112p haha me too!!!

  • my band teachers always saying to the percussion section in our band, Are you glockenspieling? lol

  • It's ridiculous how good u are like u could be the future drummer of Rush!

  • Absolutely incredible!!!

  • literally perfect

  • Awesome

  • DUDE best cover on youtube

  • @NathanXPablo Agreed

  • DUDE BEST COVER ON YOUTUBE

  • see those tiny hihats? what are those called? any idea?

  • you should save up your money annd but an electric xylophone like neil pearts

  • I own the malletkat. The malletkat is the electronic midi marimba that neil has.

  • wicked dude; so much better than the other covers i have seen of this song. Nice work!

  • awsome playing man u should kno rush personally

  • glockenspiel win!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • good teacher.

  • AMAZING! and the glockenspiel was icing on the cake!

  • Excellent work ! Great camera angle ! Thks !

  • Hey guys, it's not a xylophone, it's a glockenspiel with steel bars..... a xylophone is larger with wooden bars... I know because I played xylophone and marimba in University, the teacher never gave me the glockenspiel parts, because the bars were so damn small that I kept hitting the wrong notes...... haha!

  • @mikemichalkowdrums :D Were you in pit? And did you march in high school?

  • @KonguAwesome I did not March in high school.. I wish... I didn't start playing until I was 17

  • @mikemichalkowdrums Yeah anyone who has ever been in a concert or marching band should understand the difference between the glockenspiel and xylophone. thanks for the lesson anyways

  • @mikemichalkowdrums You are very correct there :) In Highschool marching band and concert band as a bass clairnet/sound tech. You learn neat little things like that :)

  • @mikemichalkowdrums what are the notes for the glockenspiel part at 1:28 and 2:32?

  • LOOL xylophone

  • I've watched a dozen times in the last few weeks. Inspiring! I especially love the perfect fills b/w 3:15 - 3:30. Peart played this section dead perfectly and you do it complete justice. take a bow! I wish You Tube had a slow motion feature so I could watch closer :-)

  • Best line from their movie. "Yea, you can play Tom Sawyer but can you play YYZ?" You sir are one of the few who can answer yes.

  • @Hossflex Actually it was,"yeah you can play YYZ but can you play La Villa Strangiato?"

  • quality tune ive tried so many times to play it myself bt i cnt cum close to being as tite as neil mate haha best cover of this ive seen well played mate

  • could someone plz tell me the notes when hes playing the orchestra bells, cuz i have a set from school, and it would be awesome to b able to play it.

On a side note, great cover

  • @boycehunter ...the notes on the bells are D-E-F#-G#,now in what order they go in the melody I cant say but I know those notes are in there...ive been trying to figure it out correctly myself....so check it out!

  • @erictobias7 Bells? You mean glockenspiel (Neil now uses a MalletKat Express). The notes Neil plays are E1 E2 F#2 E2 F#1 A2 G#2 F#2 (1 = lower octave/left hand, 2 = upper octave/right hand). Play this repeating pattern for six measures (all 1/8 notes) and finish with E1. Note that Neil's left hand plays on beats 1 and 3 while his right hand plays the exact same notes (albeit at a higher octave) as the "muted guitar" synthesizer which rests on beats 1 and 3.

  • @boycehunter It's a glockenspiel, not orchestra bells. The notes are [E1, E2, F#2, E2, F#1, A2, G#2, F#2]. 1 = lower octave (left hand), 2 = upper octave (right hand). Repeat this measure 6 times and finish off with one more E1. Note that the right hand plays the same notes as the synthesizer that leads into this section (the one that sounds a bit like a muted guitar), while the left hand simply plays the rest beats (beats 1 and 3).

  • this is pretty tight. you are just missing the ghost note on the "e" of 3 on snare neil plays in his signature ride pattern. other than that nice

  • What kit do you have?

  • This was awesome!! Enable ratings so i can give you 10 likes!!!

  • gahh, im 14, and i play the drums, and Ive been working on this song for sooo long, like a few months, and for some reason, i just get tired, and cant do anymore at around 3:00, but other than that, i can play all of it, just not the entire song at once. Its tough on my arms, and ankles, and pretty much everything else, lol.

  • no way mike is human! mistake @ 1:50

  • ill be trying to learn this song only on a 5 peice drum set, includiing bass, and 4 cymbols including hi hats..ill try my best but any tips on the bass drum...dont really know what bass hit this song has, but the toms and everything ill learn from this..

  • Bloody amazing cover mate.

  • Hahaha so bad ass with the xylophone!

  • @Partyboy5K thats the bells

  • @TheMrnerfdoger09 it;s a xylophone actually.

  • @drumplayerRo It's a glockenspiel, or bell kit... steel bars... a xylophone is larger with wooden bars.

  • @mikemichalkowdrums oh ok... Thank you for enlightening me! :P

  • @drumplayerRo Xylos is the greek for wood, hence it is not a Xylophone.

  • You know i would LOVE to see a cover of Force Ten. I know your kit is completely acoustic, but it would just be fun to see. =D

  • dude ur awsome i love ur drumming keep it up :]

  • are those silver drums mini timbales?

  • just wondering do you have to keep hitting the hi hat trigger throught out the song or does that keep the rythm or something?

  • WOW flawless amazing no words to describe it

  • where do u find good drum tabs?

  • @TheScrewed0ver

its bettter to play with your own feeling

listen carefully and play it how u like :)

  • man even did the xlyphone part

  • yea for real. i watched this and was like dang good cover.. BUT THE XYLOPHONE TOO!!!

  • @Motleydru bell part

  • hey can anyone tell me how much it would cost for a set consisting of 1 snare 4 toms, 2 crash, 1 ride, a double bass, and one of the upside down cymbols (wtf are they called?)

  • @Rag557 depends on the maker, and also where you plan on getting your equipment. the cymbal you are talking about is called a china cymbal

  • @Rag557 yamaha do some decent ones like what youve described but you wud be lucky to find one under £400

  • china cymbals.

  • @Rag557 depends on what you want to buy. the cymbals are called china cymbals by the way, and im lookin for one of those too!

  • Yeah some portnoy would be fucking sick

  • OK Mike,honestly... how many hours did this take you to learn?

  • Well... I've been listening to RUSH since I started drumming, and the more hours you put in, the better you will sound.. Hard to say, but I have to say at least 100.....

  • @mikemichalkowdrums it takes a while. But the satisfaction you get when you've accomplished a Rush song is extremely gratifying. Good job bro.

  • Damn dude 20 seconds in and your already my hero o.0
