I have the original greatest hits album but know for sure the album sounds like bacon frying on the stove. If anyone know where I can find a copy of this song let me know.

  • a few years back mos def was at usc....best performance of ms. fat booty yet...he started by singing this song by aretha then went into his own version and at the point where he say's if i dont if i dont have you he flippd it into the gregory issacs song with great transitions...my mind was blown by what i had seen

  • can't believe AYATOLLAH flipped this, using an MPC 60 by the way, which only affords him a 6 to 10 second sample

  • Thank You Mos Def Now This Brings Back Memories O_O

  • greatest

  • thats creative them jokers got talent to take just that sample and make a fiyah joint like that!

  • I believe I have the original album that this beautiful song debuted back in 1968 and it sounds just as beautiful here today. This is truly a blessing in remembrance of "Sweet Soul Music" will last forever & a day.

    Sport67

  • you turn into a diva when you're hungry

  • Guess what, itunes don't even have this, how about that.

  • This is one of the most soulful songs she made for columbia records. Man this woman was AWESOME in her prime, there was no song that she could not sing and make it sound beautiful, for real.

  • I allways thought Aretha was a fox

  • Pure fire. Who hasnt been there.

  • now I remember where I've heard this before!

  • i always wondered where Mos Def got dis sample from. i like dis though. on da real.

  • This beautiful song by Aretha Franklin brings back lovely memories of my early days living in Eastern North Carolina (Nash County) year-1968. ONE STEP AHEAD!

    Sport67

  • @GS455Stage1 I hate to disappoint you but the song came out in '64. This was before she made her phenominal run with Atlantic records.

  • @bubblejomay

There is no disappointment here as I know from having the original song on the first major release of her album. Whether or not is was in '64 or not, the big exposure of this beautiful song was on her album release along with "Ain't No Way" which debuted in late 1967 or early 1968. The reason I know this to be true, I was attending N.C. A & T State University when the release was in the South.

  • a every one if you look at this pic,it look a little like cece when had that same hair cut

  • I think Mos Def sampled from this song with respect..

  • @trademark1874 yeah!

    ms. fat booty

  • @trademark1874 STFU. Nobody thinks "Oh gosh I so respect Aretha Franklin" when they sample. They just do. And its Ayatollah not Mos who sampled this.

  • @RDoubt96 I have no idea who pressed the sample button in the studio, or who brought sandwiches to the crew when recording it!

  • @trademark1874 yeah he did !! its called MS.FAT BOOTY !!

  • you guys are giving props to mos which is great but give the man AYATOLLAH his respect for flippin the sample and making a hot beat out of it.

    -peace

  • wen i was in fith grade they had this song in the music book wen i was in music class

  • How do I buy this Song? It is not on i-tunes.....

  • @gocopley1 Use limewire, or install the the add on for Mizilla "DownloadHelper".

  • @gocopley1 Or download "Realplayer", and you can download directly from youtube. When downloaded a song in Realplayer, theres an easy converter, that will convert the file to your mobile, ipod, mp3 etc...
