@DrCell94 i love hip hop but good oldies definetly dont need hip hop help to stay alive...good oldies stay forever!! The jacksons.Aretha,The detroit spinners,Temptations,Supremes....they'll live for ever
I think the majority of the views are from hip hop lovers. sure my prime source of music is hip hop but I won't forget where good music came from as well!
You see, this goes to show that good music, real music, will never die no matter what. I never would have known about this joint if it wasn't for Mos. BIG TUNE...
I thought i was the ultimate Aretha fan but i can honestly say i have never heard this before. Thanks for posting this.....it proves just how versatile she was. What a wonderful singer she is.
@supadanman I think the only place you can get this one Aretha song officially on CD is on the new "Complete Aretha Franklin Columbia" recordings box set. It's not cheap! But lots of interesting rare stuff.
beautiful beautiful song. Let us not forget that we can also sing and make beautiful melodies -- it doesn't all have to be heavy beats and hard lyrics about the same old subjects all the time. Let's go back.... waaayyy back.
im 16 and a dude who listens to old school rap, and i have fallen in love with music like this. anyone know of any other stuff like aretha franklin? i know latimore and the isley brothers.....
@PS3xMedia Dee Dee Sharp - "I Love You Anyway", "I Really Love You", Ooh Child, other great stuff. These are my favorites by her. Maxine Brown, Baby Washington, The Dramatics, The Manhattans, Ann Peebles (did original I can't stand the Rain), another great Peebles tune is "I Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down". The Dells (original "The Love We had Stays On My Mind"). Barbara Lewis, Jerry Butler, Sam Cooke, List goes on and on.
This is one beautiful. But guess what it can't be found or at least I haven't found it. It is not on itunes I just don't know. I have the original greatest hits album but know for sure the album sounds like bacon frying on the stove. If anyone know where I can find a copy of this song let me know.
a few years back mos def was at usc....best performance of ms. fat booty yet...he started by singing this song by aretha then went into his own version and at the point where he say's if i dont if i dont have you he flippd it into the gregory issacs song with great transitions...my mind was blown by what i had seen
I don't know why but since ever. every time that I hear the second part of this song, almost cry. It's so sweet and sad...and that soft swing dance at the end. I really love this song.
I believe I have the original album that this beautiful song debuted back in 1968 and it sounds just as beautiful here today. This is truly a blessing in remembrance of "Sweet Soul Music" will last forever & a day.
This is one of the most soulful songs she made for columbia records. Man this woman was AWESOME in her prime, there was no song that she could not sing and make it sound beautiful, for real.
Hehe, funny to see the comments, as I play this song for the same reason. "This is an awesome sample". I really wanted to hear the original. Great song. For now and then. Great voice indeed!
This beautiful song by Aretha Franklin brings back lovely memories of my early days living in Eastern North Carolina (Nash County) year-1968. ONE STEP AHEAD!
There is no disappointment here as I know from having the original song on the first major release of her album. Whether or not is was in '64 or not, the big exposure of this beautiful song was on her album release along with "Ain't No Way" which debuted in late 1967 or early 1968. The reason I know this to be true, I was attending N.C. A & T State University when the release was in the South.
