@Legoppl it is nothing special.on the certificate that came with it ,it has Meritoroous Achievement in ground operations against hostile forces. 1 Sept.70-to 31 July 71.i was there till the end of Sept 71 the end of july they pulled us out of the field and we did surcurty in Dang Nang.
yes, that is if you could get your hands on them. we were in the field most of the time. when they brought clean cloths out to us they were in duffle bags. most were the o.d.green . sometimes you would find a set. i was lucky just once. my video pictures i took in vietnam shows me with them on. the video is not that good. did not have the pictures the way i wanted them .. i placed them wrog. my picture is at about 3;29
I am a huge WWII collector and just started collecting vietnam gear this year. The vietnam gear is harder to find than the WWII items. I walked across a vietnam helmet (with liner) in a garage sale for 3 dollars. The people said that they found it in their attic and had no use for it, so I didn't encourage them to keep it. Needless to say, I bought it.
that is a great bye. i agree vietnam gear is hard to find. i go to a army surplus store to see if they have anything, most of the time the don't. i do find gear on e-bay. i check all the sellers to see who has the cheapest price. i also go to flea markets.
If you were in the vietnam war i find it kind of sick that you want to play war at home to. Cause most of the soldiers i know dont want to talk about it and they have bad dreams and all that stuff. Did you liked the war or what are you thinking? No bad meant just asking...
i know there are some vietnam vets that do not like to talk about vietnam.but most do. i wear a hat that says i served in vietnam. other vietnam vets stop me and ask where i was stationed at.then we talk about things that they saw or battles they were in.young people ask me what i did over there and i tell them. they ask me what equipment i wore. not only is the vietnam war a part of america history it is a part of my history. i am collecting gear that we wore in nam durning the war.
there are re-enactors that re-enact battles that took place durning the war. they even have re-enactment of other wars like w.w.1,w.w.2 , the civil war . the biggest one we have here is the re-enactment of the battle of gettysburg.that one last for 3 days.
its not playing war its re-acting important battles that should not be foregotten. we must not forget the heros that lost their lives and the ones who survived to keep us free.you should go to a re-enactment.
sorry you think its boring, the gear is the same type i wore in vietnam and i am proud to have served.but since you are not from america i guess i understand. thanks for being honest
the rifle is a air solf m-16 but it feel and looks like the reel thing. i can not afford a reel m-16 unless someone donates one to me or i win the lottery lol
right now i have 914 dvds and a few box sets.started getting my dvd at wal-mart. a lot of times when new movies come out they have another movie with it. the price is the same as if you would just buy the one movie.so you are getting one free..
Thats a lot of films! Ive only got like 35 or 40 DVDs at the moment. I like war movies, like Platoon or Letters from Iwo Jima. And of course comedy films: ) Did you watch all of your films?
yes seen them. got the dvd i want to get patton .just got tour of duty box set. thats the same unit i was in in vietnam .and i have band of brothers. both are good movie series
got mine off e-bey new for under 40.00. i never bid i just pick the ones thar say buy now. stores and some people sell it for 70.00 that out of my price range.
Awesome video, Great collection! Do you know what the date on your 2qt canteen cover is, there should be a line that says DSA-100- and then the next two numbers are the date. Mine is 88, I'm having a hard time finding a 'Nam era one.
