  • pull the rope faster 2-strokes start at a higher RPM than the lawnmower engine does

  • Doly Ham dude, that looks FUN!

  • propeller behind that chair is kind of dangerous,, you might hurt with that propeller,, maybe you should place a cage with it.. be careful men

  • it's a failed piece of shit!

  • nice for a homemade hovercraft, but a terrible video! Lots of wasted time.

  • All that work and you end up with an old dude pushing you in circles. lol

  • and that is why you use electric

  • it may sound dangerous but you should seat yourself over the motor to distribute your weight better. youll get higher speeds and better control

  • hey cool toy did you draw a plane or blueprints or somethin like that??

  • hi nice craft did you use the perpheral jet?

  • That's crazy but cool, boy :D

  • did you have plans for that or did you design it yourself?

  • wht kinda moater is that??srry bout my spelling and the fan in the back??

  • No Stoner's were harmed in the making of this film....

  • there are more efficient ways to turn this motors on, like using eletric starter.

  • I like the video!

    Hovercrafts r so cool

    Check out this

    Hovercraft Competition it edited

    its just a 1:20

    Tell me what you think

    Thanks!!!!!!

  • It's nice to see a video of how it realistically goes - not just "look what we built." It looks like you had fun doing it, even if there were problems.

  • Also, when can we see the rebuild?

  • Haha, we've been working on it as a matter of fact. Expect to see a new video up before too long.

  • you should have used one of those electricity powered motors not gas

  • hahah...we have a problem...dosent seem to start anymore. BRIAN WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!

  • that thing is bs

  • INTENCE

  • thats badass o.0

  • "Do you want me to pull it?" ha lmfao

  • wow did u make that on ur own???

  • please make it harder

  • i think u need a better engine for both fans, and a taller skirt

  • Thanks for the negative ratings? Atleast it was constructive criticism that was correct....

The post by the inbred hillbilly was entirely wrong and ridiculous. oil? it's a 2-stroke, so oil is in the gas, and they actually start easier with less oil...

  • It was constructive but there's no need to condescending. The prop is mostly unguarded but the seat area is pretty solid. I don't know about drilling the prop, I wasn't there for that but I assume there was a hole there already. In any case it turned out to be not nearly enough to move the craft. We tried again this summer so I'll get the new vid online quick.

  • its called oil dip shit... it was funny as hell watchin you try and turn the rear motor over... u fucking pull like a bitch looks like u fuckin city homos are to scared to get ur little rich hands dirty...

  • Hahaha, well now I can say I've been flamed on YouTube!

The engine failed to start due to an intermittent problem with the magneto system, which has been sorted. It now starts easily, even when I pull like your mom.

  • good work but the skirt isn't very good you have to reproject it!

  • ok is it just me or do u have to go all the way to the back where the fan is to stop it not only that when ur about to hit something i see no brakes it looks like a death trap

  • That's right, both motors are controlled with switches way too close to the moving parts. We are working on making those safer.

  • Few hovercraft actually have brakes, especially not amateur ones. The hovercraft was never meant to be taken to the road or anything, so there's not much to hit. If required I could rig it so I have a kill switch up front, but I decided it was entirely unnecessary. The engine isn't powerful enough for it to fly away.

I was really more concerned about making it work right before I worried about convenience issues like that. Turning off neither engine is a safety hazard.

  • you aren't very bright, huh? What would make you think to sit in front of an unguarded propeller in a seat that's barely attached? Also, drilling into a propeller and attaching a bolt? you've weakened the propeller and then added a relatively heavy bolt to it. That's asking the propeller to blow up.

  • Haha, thanks! This craft was more of a prototype than anything else. Keep in mind that this was one of the first times I started the craft, and I'm not going to install a guard and a cupholder before I even know how it works.

I wrote more, but Youtube tells me my response was too long, hence the two replies.

  • I did not "drill into a propellor" - I bought a propellor for an R/C plane, which already had a hole in it because that's just how this kind of thing attaches and is made to attach. I did actually bore out the hole a little bit because the hole that came with it did not match the drive shaft.

Or three comments as the case many be...

  • I never used a bolt, but I assume you're referring to the driveshaft. Well, if you have a better way for me to attach a propellor to an engine than the driveshaft, I'd love to hear it... And I still don't see how the weight of the driveshaft has anything to do with anything, seeing as the crankshaft should theoretically be pretty dang balanced.

  • obviously, any real hovercraft builder knows that propellers should be attached magnetically.

sorry, i thought i saw a bolt on the propeller, but you "lasso'd" the rope around the end of the propeller.

an open propeller is seriously dangerous though.

  • you need more air.. That lawn mower could have been spinning fast.. over ride the governor.

  • COOL

  • seems to me like the skirt is uneven

  • fuck you u basterd if u no whats good 4 u ul shut up.

  • Why is the skirt flopping in the begining of the vid?

  • That's pretty cool. What kind of motor did you use to steer? What did you use for a skirt?

  • Whoops, sorry about the downvote. The steering motor is a 2 stroke weed whacker engine with a RC plane propeller bolted on. Turned out to not be powerful enough. I think the skirt is some kind of nylon sheet, I'll have to ask.

  • @Hyperion512 with the right size propeller a weedwhacker can be powerful, i made the same mistake as you and used a 2 ft prop but I bored out the jet in the weed whacker and it worked, it ran like shit but it worked until the piston blew. i have seen people have luck with 10 inch or even smaller props because it will allow the weedwhacker to rev up to very high RPMs which is where it must be to achieve any significant torque.

  • Hey, thanks! This is Brian, I indeed used a 28cc weed whacker engine we had sitting around the garage. Not in running order at the time. And the skirt is also indeed heavy duty nylon, although the shape I used for the skirt was a major failure point of this craft.

  • Top marks for effort.

    Do you have life insurance?

  • Good job Bran

  • cool do you have some plans for it? i would love to build one myself

  • Hey, thanks! I'm currently at university, but next time I visit home I'll be sure to get all my drawings and stuff. I discourage people trying to copy what I've made exactly, but I strongly encourage people to look at what I did, and look at what other people do and conglomerate multiple designs into one, and I did. It's far more rewarding, and it's more of your own creation.

  • i think you guys should make it hover a little higher. It worked for us. The thrust is a great idea though. Great JOB!!!

  • try losing some weight

  • Needs more power for the lift fan. If you can, try finding a 27hp lawnmower engine.

  • get it working!
