I didnt know who she was until about a month ago. I went to see defiance ohio, and was all pumped, and then this lady has us sit on the floor... I was about to be one of those rowdy-ish douchebags, or go outside. Then she started playing and I didnt think it was anything special. Then I actually listened. Her voice wasnt anything special, but it was honest, as were her lyrics, and I was moved. By the end of her set, I had an overwhelming sense of happiness.

Kimya always plays all-ages shows and she brings her daughter to a lot of her gigs. Or at least, she used to. She just came out with a baby CD, so it totally makes sense that there were babies there. The kinds of parents who are taking their kids to see her know that she's an adult, who talks like an adult. Kimya's at her best when there are kids in the audience who she can make laugh.
