  • I liked Diana until she came to the faster part... whatever happened there? Did she lose the singing for the acting? Bartoli is really enjoyable.

  • re verb? sounds to me that it was an acoustic recording studio and Diana was done on regular studio sound proof booth with the accompaniment track that's not the usual way classical singers record though it's all done live with orchestra right there

  • Damrau is Damrau, Bartoli is Bartoli, in case one would take the impossible task of comparing the two, i'd find it foolish, the mezzo soprano, and the coloratura soprano, are just too different domains without any comparison, especially in this level. we love you ladies, you are sublime, you are unique, you are beautiful you are the best!

  • Can't really compare; Bartoli's recording has a lot of reverb (either from the studio or added in post) that makes her voice sound much fuller than Damrau's more spartan recording.

  • I didn't want compare the recordings! I only want to share two beautiful interpretation of this aria!!!

  • @maggeo78 Then next time don't use the "vs." in your post. It indicates that you intend to provoke the listener to compare the two recordings.

  • @regulargonzalez una il gelo, la nebbia il freddo, l'altra il sole, il caldo la passionalità... ma Mozart è tedesco? credo di no !! era..... UNIVERSALE!! appartiene a TUTTI !!

  • cecilia has a much warmer sound, and darker than diana. cecilia also has higher overtones, making diana sound a little flat comparing the two. i just don't like diana's voice on this. i much prefer darker, warm full voices. and this rep is not right for diana. cecilia can "pull" it off in color, but as a mezzo, and just a lighter voice in general, should leave it to us full sopranos. but very beautiful job cecilia. don't like diana at all.

  • I love Diana Damrau but in this piece I prefer Cecilia Bartoli.

  • i love the pic of diana at the piano with the drink! lol

  • I tink it's one of the best Diana's pictures...

    I love it!!!!!!!!

  • This role isn't for either of them. That's all. But each does a good job.

  • I understand this is not a contest, but am still going to offer up different opinions on the singers. Bear with me.

I love Damrau, but either this is not her rep or she wasn't in her best voice. She seems to lack support, and without the runs and trills, I don't find her voice all that interesting; love her Konigin and Konstanze, though. Bartoli is excellent, her mezzo-soprano fitting this soprano aria surprisingly well. I realize this is an unpopular way to look at things ... sorry?

  • Well I wanted to compare my favourite singers... I agree with you, even if Diana is my favourite, Cecilia's contessa is better.. But I'm sure that Diana will emprouve in the future!!!!!!!!!

  • Diana does a fabulous job in forcing her voice to fit this rep. She is better suited for German and French rep. Her voice does not have the sweet Italian quality. I prefer her with the heavier coloratura rep.

  • Ma l'italiano di Diana è perfetto!!!!!!!

  • Although I adore and LOVE Cecilia Bartoli, I must say Carol Vaness has done the best recording of Dove Sono, the original and edited version.

  • I love both, maybe a bit more Cecilia. And of course I love Vaness and Dame Kiri.

Another beautiful rendition is Lucia Popp's under Marriner's baton.

  • popp was a great one. two that dont come to most peoples' minds but that are both fantastic countesses are freni and auger.

  • I know Freni's Susanna; I believe that her Countess and Auger's have been wonderful. Where can I find them, do you know please?

  • freni's dove sono is on here and could easily be in an mozart lover's top 3 dove sono's. as for auger, her donna anna, konstanze, and susanna are on here, but you may have to buy the cd's for her countess.

  • It`s really heavy to make a contest between this singers. I like both but here, la Bartoli wins. She has the better paino in this aria, in my oppinion...But I like Damrau too...

  • I mean piano

  • This is not a contest... They are both big, with a really different voice... In this video I want only share with all youtubers the voice of two angels!

  • yes...i also love diana...her interpretations are very moving!!

  • i know that;) i meant the way how she behaves^^ and she is a happy, friendly woman...

    sorry that I didn't pointed it out^^

and also sorry for my bad english :-O

  • Yes Cecilia is really friendly and kind... But Diana too... They are both two great singers and women!!!

  • Now, I don't think anyone- including those who don't particularly like Diana Damrau- can listen to her recordings and disagree that her voice is beautiful and unique. But... I don't understand how anyone- including those who particularly like Cecilia Bartoli- can listen to her and not think to themselves "that's pretty fucked up"

  • of course cecilia--la gioiosa =)

  • Well in this aria the countess is not really gioiosa...

  • Cecilia Bartoli Rules!!!

  • I agree- Damrau is great...but Bartoli's version has more anguish and better vocal heft that is needed for La Contessa- please Diana stick with Susanna!

  • Well it would be intersting to see le nozze with Diana as Susanna and Bartoli as Contessa

  • the best Cecilia Bartoli!!!
