@masterwindleborn shining the laser on a mirror that is mounted on an electric fan at a slight angle will create a cone. The vortex is this cone with smoke/fog to enhance the laser beam.

What is the big deal with lighting matches with a laser? Matches practically light themselves... they are SUPPOSED to light. A great bit would be to light a crayon with a laser! Not THAT would be cool.
