  • This is absolutely spot on. I actually, due to my unwillingness to bend to Political Correctness, call these people Marxists. I strongly urge all who read this to read Woodrow Wilson's speech "Socialism and Democracy" mind boggling and T. Roosevelt's "Who is a Progressive?" stunning. These writings mean something, every bit as do the Founders words.

  • How long has this progressive movement been around? what are its "motto's" ? Who are the promoters of it? I had heard of Glenn Beck for a while but never stopped to listen to what he says about the progressive movement until this weekend; And now Im on a quest to find out if its as bad as Beck claims? I like this video because it clearly talked about concepts and wasnt just name calling.

And Im wondering if Beck is wrong on progressives or not

  • Progressivism is slowly killing America.

  • Get this book: Vindicating the Founders, by Thomas West.

  • He is incorrect. Progressives favor the promotion of civil rights, communitarianism, and social justice. The reason they seek to interpret the constitution in their own way is because many of terms are, as he stated, ambiguous... like the definition of a human citizen, which is used so often but has changed so many times in our history. Progressives desire to bring whatever social criticisms they have to light through the law.

If progressive ideology didn't exist, neither would human rights.

  • Any sort of change to the left OR the right for better or for worse is considered progressive. It isn't a one sided issue.

  • We must understand the progressivism is nothing more than communism. progressives have the planks of the communist manifesto. there is very little difference. they remove god from society to degrade hope to strip people of rights.

  • @pandabead The Communist Manifesto was written at a time in 19th century England where citizens worked sun up to sun down, with such conditions as little workers' rights, malnutrition, illiteracy, while the bourgeois enjoyed the fruits of production... Marx believed that eventually, the proletariat would get so angry that they would destroy the bourgeoisie and forge a new society based off the idea of no-property, no-wealth. This is impractical. It takes away the rights of the individual.

  • @pandabead

Communism turned sour in the US when they saw that it wasn't the proletariat starting this upheaval in other countries like China and Russia, but authoritarian leaders like Mao and Stalin, whose interests disagreed with the people.

Progressivism is completely different. It does not seek to eliminate wealth or property, and also is something led by the grassroots elements of society in the promotion of civil rights, such as equal opportunity in education and workers' rights.

  • @pandabead Is a common factor of the progressive movement that they REFUSE to hold to Judao Christian scripture itself?? Is that a common thread of belief? Today I heard Phyllis Bennis on cspan say disturbing anti Semetic, anti Israel things and she said she does not believe in God nor that God is able to be in "the real estate business" (never heard of her before today).

Is that common to the pm? all things are unknown and Gods word is not absolute? thanks.

  • What we call "research" often means a broad search within huge, though limited data-bases within a particular consensus. (try to find articles which argue a liberal position.. you come up only with outliers) Today, colleges are highy liberal/ progressive, in fact, I argue that this is what defines them. Though it's had benefits, it implicitly stifles opposing points of view. It is unethical. I'm not against progressives/ liberals but I'm not ok with the "case-closed" mindset.

  • This propagandist is totally wrong - American Progressivism purports that GOVERNMENTAL PRACTICES, not core principles of the Constitution, should have the ability to evolve concurrently with our society. What happens if a business's practices fail to adapt to meet the demands of the market(s) it serves? Poof, they're out of business!!

  • @jgarzilli

Progressivism is the tyrannical attempt to institute government practices that are contrary to the Constitution. Progressivism is an assault on the Constitution, and therefore progressivism is an assault on everything that is good and decent about America. Progressive is anti-American. Defending America from enemies, foreign and domestic, means defeating the evils of progressivism.

  • herbs814 - nice regurgitation of GOP/Fox talking points. you'd be better off turning off your tv and doing some research........

  • @jgarzilli

Honest research confirms that Fox is the most trustworthy of all America tv news sources.. and that Republicans are by far the better of the two main parties. If you don't understand that, you haven't done enough honest research from reliable sources.

  • he is a historian and he is correct. Progressives believe rights come from government. Framers believed rights come from God. My opinion is if you are not born with it then it is not a right.

  • So, what about the 3/5th compromise? Was not chattel slavery a core principle at the founding? Some things change ... right?

  • Yeah, someone was trying to explain how the Founding Fathers wanted the Constitution to change to adapt to society, so I went ahead and found for them quotes from several of the founding fathers that said quite the opposite, that the Constitution is the basis for law, and should not, ever, be altered by the government for which it was written to keep in check.

  • We need to stop these locusts.

  • Or eradicate the plague and plague bringers.
