the Soviets where really ahead for their times. Its really sad that nowdays no body gives a fuck about the space anymore instead govermont waste their fricking money useless things like military and wars. Esa is a joke and china give a shit about space, russia is still decent compare to the rest but not as investing as the soviets were. The only real one that cares is the nasa but with douchebag obama and no real concurrence they are stagnant.
I'm amazed at what the Ruskies were able to accomplish as far back as 1967.
The competition between the Soviets and the US was great for science. For them to take any photos at all in an environment as harsh as Venus is amazing, even now! What a feat.
As an American, I really do miss the Soviets, they kept Americans on their toes with Technology and NASA. Without Sputnik, there would be no Explorer. No Vostok/Vokshod/Soyuz, no Mercury/Gemini/Apollo. No N1, No Saturn V, No Buran, no Space Shuttle. No Salyut, No Skylab.....I can go on and on.
Soviet technology was the best technology during its lifetime. Almost all firsts belong to Soviet Union, exept manned mon landing mission because of financial problems. Soviet Union collapsed physicly but it will always live in my heart and in many many other peoples hearts.
what answers can I expect from an idiot teen, who only watches videos of girls...how many times did you jerk off today??..... France is not enemy of any nation...Vive la France, come to visit us.
Especially US citizens shouldn't cry to load about politics these days; not after starting two wars under a single president, publicly violating human rights, bankrupting your country and having one of the worst school systems in the world...
I admire the russian space program, too (and i'm not french). Maybe the McBurgers put the first man on the moon, but the russians did lots more science - which is what counts after all... anyway, didn't you just loose ANOTHER space shuttle a few years back...?

Of course you admire the Russian space program! Austrians are too stupid to send men into space. Austrians are the most primitive people in Europe. In fact they are subhuman.
Venera 4 was the first successful Soviet planetary mission. Launched in June 1967, arrived at Venus in October 1967, penetrated the Venusian atmosphere but failed to land as the pressure in the atmosphere was too high. First landing on Venus was Venera 7 in 1970...
Translations are necessary.

I think Venera was one of the most beautiful successes of space exploration with the return of surface images. Great job.

These missions were incredible for their time. A very ambitious project indeed. Kudos to the Soviets. And I agree, we miss the Soviets...

Venera VIII, Greetings on its 37 anniversary
On March 27, 1972, the Soviet Union launched Venera 8. This was the second successful landing on Venus and the first on the day side of the planet.
