I know I am a little late to the subject, but to answer your question I believe that it's hard for african americans to support them is because of the imagine we try to display. We want our imagime to be that of a strong and proud one. The images of gay are weak and negative and as a race it's just something we dont want apart of. Not saying that all black feel this way just majority of the heterosexuals.
the hawk is mad sexy yo (no homo) wish i could grow one but moms wont let me lol and u dnt even need to waste time adressing negativity u were right the whole time bruh. dueces
It's funny how some feel the need to point out that " Everyone else is doing it too, so why are you giving US a hard time!" I'm so sick of that, I've heard that from so many different parts of the spectrum. Instead of stating a valid reason, point the finger in all directions.
I think your mohawk rocks! It's especially hot from the side and the back. Personally, I know that you get points deducted if you fall into the GLBT category; now try adding some brown skin to the mix and the point value really plummets. How did the world get so jacked up?
As usual, very much on point ... enjoy Comic Con avec votre frere! Some of the responses to your previous VLOG point out what's become wrong with the media and society in general ... nobody seems to want to be bothered with taking the time to "listen" "to read" "to understand" ... keep meaning what you say and saying what you mean and you'll soar to heights unknown for that trait is very much in short supply
you should dye it some color though like a dark browm or black to make it stand out,, or red! lolz that was a.joke , but yeah someone is always going to hate is okay though. oh, what are you geting your degree in??
UGH people are ALWAYS going to find something negative to say...FTS!!! (f&^k that s*%t). I love the mohawk; perhaps you may want to dye it a dark brown to give a little contrast. But I love it nonetheless. Finish your degree bruh....the vlogs can wait...I know I'll be waiting lol. Good luck on your last semester!
NOOO DNT CUT THE MOHAWK... U look good with it..love the vid...tottolly understand wat ur talkn about..idk y people dnt listen to wat u say sometimes I thnk they need to watch a few more times u kno jus a few...or more...but yea love the vid..u lucky for just having one more semester..i'm still on my first :(
As far as the mohawk goes...keep it. It is a refresher that you are not a "typical" guy and it makes a statement about you and your character. You are not afraid to push the envelope and be your own person.
When you posted the video I never once thought of it as being racist. Period. I am a minority...as you are. It was a personal topic. As you have said homophobia is EVERYWHERE...it just seems that African American men get the short straw on it for the simple reason that the idea of a "Black Man" is so far removed from what it means to be a "White Man" or any other color of man. Black men are meant to be the epitome of masculinity.
And Reg...stop with all that background music. Not needed kid.
Hey FV...i aint hit your vlogs up in a minute...my laptop has been down...gotta hit the library. ...personally i think mohawks are 2007...it's almost 2010 watch for the new trend
I dont think you should spend so much time addressing your detractors. It dilutes the original message. Be confident in your assertions. I understood what you meant and no explanation is necessary. Much love.
Most of the people who made comments about how Homophobia affects ALL peoples were not "detractors" at all. They were people who added broader perspective to the discussion, and there is a big difference. I am disheartened at the number of African Americans who don't acknowledge the importance of inclusion, and not sectioning off against those you percieve as "different". The "truth" is that WE ought to know better than anyone.
I think StanleyT123 misunderstood my point. I merely meant to say anyone who didnt agree with FabledVerses original message didnt need further explanation. FabledVerses original (well stated) message, stood on its own.
I understood it perfectly well. If you read the thread you would know that it was the question itself thatt was being challenged, and the meaning behind it. It raised questions about internalized bigotry, racism and homophobia and I think thats a discussion worth having.
I think you should cut the mohawk off...if u r not going to do it like Mr. T, don't do it at all is what I say. Besides, I think the mohawk is really, REALLY played out.
Just because it is in other cultures doesn't make it right or less of a challenge in the AA community. I just hate when people respond like children"well, they are too!"
And for you concerning the defensive people that left "harsh" messages to you. I learned a long time ago:
"Never explain anything. Your friends don't need it and your enemies won't believe it."
Will you do me a favor please? I am close to 60 and can't hear you too well when you have the background music so loud. I care 2 hear U
Sounds like you missed the whole point yescandles. I did not see any comments that were "harsh" or "like children". I'm sure our friend Fabledverse knows by now that when presenting opinions and issues in a public forum like this you should expect to be challenged. I think those comments added great insight to the topic and I for one agree, its important to recognize this as a Human issue. I would hope as an "educator" you could appreciate the importance and value of that.
Well, I made a "they are too comment. The importance of recognizing the problem across the board is that people will get the help they need. When stuff is separated into race, it gives people an excuse not to be sensitive. So, they do too has to deal with the attack necessary to cure this world of racism, homophobia, mysogyny and the like. Until we recognize the humanity of all people collectively- children will continue to commit suicide.
Glad to see you're back with your videos...I definitely feel you on this issue...to some degree all cultures receive discrimination on the GLBT issue. However it is different in each culture, especially in the AA community.
FabledVerse , your one of the first people I subscribed to! And I really appreciate your videos and your VIBE so much! Much Luv! I LOVE the Hawk, on you... even though everyone has one... So Im up in the air about it! Im close to Comic Con as well!
I feel you on this. I saw comments with "well everyone hates certain people". I was just thinking to myself stfu and get to the topic at hand if you're going to comment! Certain issues effect certain "groups" more than others at certain times. This specific topic is a group specific issue you were discussing. All the fuckery is precisely why we can't get discussions off the ground now. Well, you keep doing what you're doing...it'll hit them one day...not TOday.
