@DeniqueCoelum becaus they sake and quake as hatch-lings and well into adulthood my 11yo is a quaker and he latterly quakes and shakes and is a funny dudy :D
do u normally breed quakers and or african greys, I have always wanted an african grey but everyone wants way too much for them, I already have a quaker parrot and I would like a blue one. or and african grey whichever u can cook up first.
I think the males are GENERALLY more vocal than the females, but that isn't always the case. I have a good friend who has several quakers and the girls are as vocal as the boys. She interacts with them a lot and that does make a difference. I haven't had quaker hens lay eggs without the nestbox but my friend has. I know sometimes, if they get lots of hours of daylight and have paper or anything they can shred up they'll make a nest on the bottom of the cage when there's no nestbox.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I don't know if you've ever had a bird in your life but I can tell you that they can be very happy and safe as pets, and many love interaction with their humans.
yeah and also... their habitats are being ravaged every day ... more and more... so ... its also a way of us helping. If we cant stop ppl, from destroying their habitats then at least take care of them.
@nytransplnt ok first off, most ppl that have birds generally let them out unless they are only meant to breed. I have a quaker parrot and he is very rarely put in his cage, he is free to walk around and pretty much do as he pleases. ya frikin pent up pita member, go get laid please and stop putting ur BS ways on everyone else please and thank u.
Parrots should be able to spend their lives naturally, flying..not pent up in cages by people like you who perpetuate their imprisonment because you think it's "cute". How selfish of you.
Oh, I'm sorry about your sun conure! Even if their wings are trimmed they can get scared and fly away, given a chance. Yes, they are very noisy birds, like Quakers. But both are little clowns and I really enjoy watching their antics.
I'm really disappointed that my breeder pair isn't doing anything this spring. I do have some adorable cinnamon and pineapple greencheek conure babies that I'm handfeeding. They're little clowns, but so different from the quakers!
It's fun to see the personality traits of the various breeds of birds.
i used to have a sun conure but it flew away when my step dad scared it when he was bringing a chir inside the house and left my mother was crying i got sad even though i didnt put much attention to it , i miss his loudness when i was alone he would make noises to make me feel good and less lonly on those days
I just love Quakers, babies or adults! I hope to have some babies again, now that Spring is here. Bet you really enjoy Jadzia. They really bond with you if you if they are handfed babies and you continue to interact with them regularly, as you know very well. :)
I love raising babies! Especially quakers! They aren't afraid to let you know they're hungry and even at a young age they like to have adventures and I had one that was learning to talk before we weaned him onto seeds. Thanks for the video I miss how cute they are!
i love seeing people go out of thier way to take care of baby birds ...i have my very own cinnamon green cheek conur ..hes a great bird ...hes sitting on shoulder as we speak nibbling at my hair......we go every where together and everthing...we wash we watch tv and he loves music.......he is ma best buddy ...i recently tawt him to play monopoly with me ...he just moves around the pieces i just go to teach him the rules ...WHICH HE MIGHT NEVER LEARN ..hes a cutie tho
omg SOOOO CUTE I just wanna scoopem up and nuzzle them :) heehee. quakers are so cuddly, they're such attention sucks. they get loud though (I don't mean their cool sounds, I mean that screaming one). Anyone who can't deal with their loud sound shouldn't try owning one.
Oh, yes! I love to snuggle with them and of course that helps make sweet well-adjusted babies to go to their new homes. I'm hoping to have more Quaker babies soon. I've missed them! lol Now that it's Spring maybe the parents will decide it's time for more babies. :)
aww, your lucky to get to handle babies like that :3 and raise them. i have a senegal, and i adore him, hes one of the sweetest birds ive ever met. =D he spends all his time with me, in the shower, at dinner x3 its cute, i just wish i could have raised him
very true! im dissapointed in the people who are afriad of them. so what if you got bit once? not all birds are like that, of course everyone should be careful around the mean ones, it doesnt mean they should be afraid of the sweet ones too D: and yes, i love the different personalities, their like people. :3 Kisses (my sennie) decided to hate my mom xD he attacks her whenever he gets a chance. but hes really nice to everone else. why does he choose to hate her? if you have any idea?
Some birds prefer men over women. Maybe he is hormonal, or needs a wing clip. Sometimes a wing clip will calm them down when they realize that they are dependent on their people. You might try just having your mom
be the only one to give him treats for awhile.
When he finds that she is the one to give him what he likes, he might get a better attitude towards her. Nice talking to you. I'm going to have to sign off now. Have a great week!
well he likes girls cause im a girl, and im his favorite person. =D and even when hes had his wings clipped, hes still thinks he the biggest toughest thing there is. lol he doesnt like other animals too, he'll chase the dogs around, as well as my mom. wings or not. and its crazy, even if shes the one who feeds him treats and stuff, he still will bite the hand that feeds him lol its pretty strange how it seems to work in his little brain. aww
My quaker hates my mom and just bites her every time she touches him, it's like he's trying to protect me from the people i hate(somtimes i hate my mom so that's why he bites her) i mean, he's too tiny to protect a human....how strange is it?? O_O
My bird absolutely hates my grandma. She's afraid/doesn't like birds, and I think that's why. Quakers will take on anything; my sister's QP chased our cat out of the room once.
dO ANY OF THESE BABIES NEED A LOVING HOME? i LIVE IN OKLAHOMA i DO NOT HAVEALOT OF MONEY TO BUY A BIRD I KNOW THEY ARE EXPENSIVE BUT HE ORSHE WILL HAVEA LOVING HOME PEACE OUT
I handfeed with a special formula for parrot babies until they are eating solid food--pellets, fruits, veggies, pasta, etc. And I give them a lot of love and attention so that they will be loving pets to their new parents. :)
Thank you! They are growing so much! Now when it's feeding time I open the cage door and they come running to jump into the basket! They are doing their step ups now. One of them has a new mommy waiting for it to be weaned. They are definitely different from any other babies I've raised. Each one has their unique personality.
Thanks for your comment! This is my first clutch of Quaker babies, but I have a pet Quaker that is the love of my life.
They are very fun loving but sometimes cage territorial birds. They can develop quite an extensive vocabulary if you work with them. I have a fairly new hen that is picking up everything she hears me or my other birds say. lol I would highly recommend a Quaker as a pet.
oh they're soooooooo cute!!!! They do sound like goats!:D Loved the video! 5 stars! i'm considering getting a quaker parrot and anything that you could tell me about them would help alot! Thanx! :)

These are domesticated birds. Just like your dog if you were to let it go "free" it would die in a matter of days.
