Yeah the only reason 2006 season was so specail was because we went for the worst team in the MLB to the Best team in the MLB i started watching The tigers in 2006 and ive been a fan ever seen.
The scene at 8:12, with Pudge waiting to hug Magglio - that image will be in my mind until the day I die. The excitement and elation in Pudge's eyes - for us Tiger fans it was like a promise being delivered. Sure - we lost the World Series, but we weren't even supposed to be there. What a special season and team. Almost everyone from that team is gone now, except for guys like Maggs, Guillen and Verlander. Here's to hoping for another post-season run in 2011.
People NOT from Michigan have a hard time understanding how special the '06 season was for the Tigers. It was pretty much a rag-tag team... a couple of great players (Pudge, Magglio...), but otherwise, a bunch of guys who nobody really knew - or expected anything from. I remember before the series with the Yankees listening to sports talk radio and "Poppa Joe" saying "now the Tigers will see what a real playoff team looks like".
Keep in mind, just 3 seasons earlier, they lost over 100 games.
Hey RayAir1, shut your face, they are gonna be good this year. Curtis Granderson struck out to much and we gained a little bit from that, we got austin Jackson and Johnny Damon and our pitching staff is among the best in the AL and maybe even the majors.
My favorite memory from the 2008 season was Todd Jones catching a walk off homer bare handed. I think it was from Brandon Inge. Anyway Todd went wild like everyone else. Then my favorite part was when he then threw the ball up to the fans in the Sky Line Section (section 345). I was a couple of feet away in section 147. I thought him giving the winning baseball away was awesome.
awesome job on the video man. This was one of most amazing time for the city of detroit. Unfortunate that they didn't win but they will be back. Maybe even this year?
we won the series in 84 against padres. we lost in 2006 we'll be back. 2009 starting to get that 2006 feel. I've been following closely to what's going down in spring training It's sonds like Zumaya's goin g to be back clos to where he was in 06. Tigers 4 life !
It is to bad that Zumaya continues to be hurt. He just can't stay healthy. However the bull pen looks real good with Fu-te-ni, Brandon Lyons, Bobby Seay and Perry. Rodney is like Todd Jones kinda roller coaster like. Great on Saves situations but non saves he sucks. Miner has had to rough outings but has some good ones to. Go Tigers
Zumaya's 2009 ERA is 4.94........My seats are in Section 147 5 row right behind the bull pen. This year I heard people booing Zumaya. Last year they were kidding him about Guitar Hero.......Zumaya signed a baseball for me last year after he returned from one of his DL stints......It is to bad that he can't stay healthy. Galarrag has been sent to the Mud Hens for 10 days rest. That means Porcello is pitching Friday and Nate Robertson is pitching Saturday against the Rays.
Actually dumbass we won in 1984, 1968, 1945, 1935.
We haven't won't a division title since 1988, never won the AL Central, and our last playoff appearance was 2006. Those are the facts you dumb bandwagon fan. Probably haven't watched a Tigers game since 06.
i dont know if this was the best tiger team of all time. that 1984 bunch were pretty good. but i will agree. i sure had alot of fun watching them. as well as that video. you did a great job on it. i am little teary eyed , just watching it

And then they lost the World Series in 5 games!

Game 2 was huge in that ALDS series...Remember the Tigers had to comeback to avoid going down 0-2.

Lol, funny how you didn't include the fact that the Tigers LOST in the World Series!
Still, nice to see an underdog team like the Tigers got their share of high performance once in a while.
