@RackJacket, the British army didn't fare any better in 1940, was beaten flat like everybody else and took the chicken run at Dunkirk. The only difference with France is that the Channel protected you, and that Hitler didn't have a plan to invade England until July 1940.
Remember that, 18 months later, the British collapsed in Malaysia and surrendered at Singapore - 50,000 British troops had their ass wooped by 30,000 Japs. Stop bragging.
