Not exactly the stance I would use if you are playing the infield. You usually want your web to be open in case of a hard line drive, but that hop was just nasty. Only thing he could have done if he had quick enough reflex was try to jump with the ball so it would hit his chest or something. Hopefully he was ok after the play.

If you played any baseball you would see that the ball's trajectory was going into the guys face. Look where the ball enters the frame. About waist height. It is coming from about waist height. It is obvious the ball had a plethora of top spin and maybe bounced once or twice. Reading a ground-ball like this, it should have been apparent that the ball would take a big hop up into the face region.
