Came across this vid by accident. Used to live in married quarters a stone's throw from where these took off - you don't get the noise on this vid! Remember well the "Cuban Crisis" when Dad had our bags packed ready to ship Mam, Brother and self "out of harm's way" to home in Inverness. To see and here take off/landing was brilliant!

We need one , the sea deterent is not enough by itself , and the V bombers could still be in service , I mean look at the American B52's , just as old and just as great , they could stay in service beyond 2040

@sailingforde04 Wrong. There is no necessity for strategic bombers-they are a complete anachronism. Why do you think the RAF passed the nuclear deterent role over to the RN? Increasingly sophisticated SAM systems made strategic high level bombers totally obsolete-they would be shot out the sky with ease. The RAF actually re-roled the Vulcan to interdict at ultra LOW level, it was believed to be the ONLY chance they would get through. The B-52 is an ultra expensive white elephant these days....
