The first girl was only paid 500 baht by Laura and Joel for the interview. The girl had originally been offered 1,000 Baht, however, Laura was adamant that since the girl had not answered (as she had hoped) 'sincerely' to her questions she gave only 500 Baht.
Yes, this interview is a total set-up. Laura and Joel made this 'documentary totally illegally.
What I find quite absurd is the fact that people are reproducing without being able to provide for children. And then these children end up in situations that are less than favorable. This is creating a new class of poor people who have no opportunities, no future, and no way of making a honest living. What do you expect them to do? Turn to crime? or Marry a 'foreigner' and hope for the best?
Western men are simply a ticket to a better life but the question is, how long? Not too long, I say.
