  • Very nice!!! I captured four Quadrantid meteors with my camera yesterday morning. Check it out on my channel when you get a chance. I definitely am gonna try to do video next time.

  • i not too long ago came from outside for tonight's meteor shower. i wasn't so sure if i was seeing what i was seeing, but after watching this... you'll have to spot them when they happen. but i did see one shoot across like really fast though.

  • its 3am n saw 5 shooting stars in 2 min the last one was fast as shit long line of brightness

  • @evaant14 Thats a lot of meteors to see in such a short period, you must have been lucky enough to witness the peak of the Quadrantids.

  • @rjcobain lol my bad it wasnt 2 min it was 20

  • Awesome! I hear there is a meteor shower tonight but it is supposedly at like 1:30 and im too tired to stay up that late

  • In 2011, most of the best meteor showers occurred when the moon was close to full. This natural "light pollution" made the fainter meteors impossible to see.

But 2012 starts out with a fine meteor shower, the Quadrantids, with absolutely no moon to interfere with the viewing. The Quadrantid meteor shower will peak on Jan. 4 at about 2 a.m. EST (0700 GMT).

lol i read that in yahoo news so just get ready to see this amazing show...again :)

  • I saw ths a few nights ago from CT. I live in a city, but my cousins backyars is woods, so I watched the shower with my cousins Laura and Julia.

  • this waz a awsome shower

  • there is one tonight woot

  • for 30mins, ive seen 7 beautiful ones...amazing!!!

  • i went out on sunday at 11pm (mountain) and stayed til 5am(mt) between 3 of us we seen thousands...no bullshit...........it was the most amazing thing ive ever witnessed........it made things seem that they didnt matter anymore........

i recommend everyone take time at every chance they get to go view meteor showers, especially this one next year.............

  • Yea you just saw the best shower since the late 90's Leonid outburst

  • ive never seen a metoer shower and i wanna reley wanna see one this time any advice on how to see it today or tommorow by the waty i live in a area where therse lots of light.

  • Sorry you missed it, Earth only takes a day or two to travel through a stream of meteoroids. The next decent shower is the Quadrantids (Early hours Jan 3rd) then after that the Lyrids (22 April) But you must go out on the night of the peak and hope that its not cloudy. If you are able it is best to watch in the early hours of the morning, as meteors are most common at about 4am.

  • hey thanks for giving me the info really apreciate it

  • I Live near in Laytown,Co. Meath,Ireland.

    Crystal Clear Sky,Geminid Meteors were leaving really long trails,about 2 a minute,Counted 78

I live beside the Beach so there was no light polution.1st Meteor Shower Viewing, well impressed!!!

  • That's about as good as it gets when it comes to meteor showers, you were lucky to see that!

  • i didn't sleep until 2 a.m, i'm very lucky coz i saw 16 meteors!!!

  • Yesterday we sat till 1.00 am and we saw 9 meteors.

I am lucky to view something like this

  • Ya I can only see like 40 feet in any direction outside my house, for some damned reason there has been some hardcore fog only at night for like the past week... soooo infuriating with a meteor shower going on behind the damn fog :(

  • Yea Armagh meteor camera had the same problem

  • i looked outside at 2am till 3am i guess.. but i haven't seen anything... :(

  • Could you see the stars ok? Are you sure there wasnt some dark high cloud?

  • I couldn't see it in ny, there were so many clouds, and lights. there is another 1 tonight

  • I got then last night, starting at 12.00 going to 5.30, Im in Surrey (SE/SW) No clouds for me... was beautiful show !!! :D

  • Stood out in my garden at 4 AM (GMT+1) for 20 minutes, didn't see anything =(

  • Beautifull show here in Colombia there were clear skies last night we could see one every minute from around 10 to 12 am

  • i saw them last night, stood for like 5 mins and saw 4 or 5.

    including one amazing orange one.

    that was incredible. :)

  • Unfortunately, in my time, I had to go sleep because it was a Monday the next day. It was extremely intimidating. So I stayed up till 11pm, and I only saw two from 10pm. I was so upset when I realised it was a Monday the next day, so obviously a working/college/school day. It was upsetting; I loved meteor showers.

Is there one every year? If so, the predicted one, when?

  • Yes every year at this time, but you will still have a good chance to see them tonight because it takes a few days for Earth to travel through the stream.

  • The clouds last night were so infuriating! And looks like it's going to be the same tonight. But I went out on Saturday in vague optimism and must have seen one every two or so minutes which was a good rate seeing as that must've been a day before the estimated peak. And saw one very memorable one, lasted a full five seconds! Still, the weather kind of ruined it, and quite a while until the next major one, but do you know if the one in January is any good?

  • The Quadrantids can be good, but the peak is so narrow that its hard to get a good view. I have been running the camera for five years but haven't got a good view. Fingers crossed again for this year!

  • It will peak at 12 midnight here in the Philippines :-)

They say the rate would be about 40 meteors/hour

  • More like 140!

  • my advice,, try to look at 'Castor',,,, but also u can see everywhere

  • lol another one,,,,

  • i saw another one again!!!! i'm here at philippines!! lol.. (too cold..)

  • i just watched this from my deck in the backyard.

    AMAZING!!!!!!

  • is this done? is it done here in the phils?

  • No! Still lots of meteors to be seen from phils!

  • i couldnt see anything in ohio, there were clouds EVERYWHERE

  • Saw a few nice ones even with the clouds and too many city lights here in Southern California, it is so beautiful to watch!

  • Saw at least 50 last night within an hour, including some great fireballs. \some clod cover, but an awesome display.

  • I'm sure rates were up to 100 per hour if it weren't for those pesky clouds!

  • what time? OMG i wanna see this. :D

  • Night time! Just look up and towards the constellation of Gemini or maybe towards the darkest part of your sky, they can appear almost anywhere in the sky so just keep your eyes peeled!

  • its crazy... all of a sudden this bright greenish glow out of southern sky on downward northern decent... this streak lit the pacific ocean and it was better than any IMAX flick i ever saw. A world theatre of majestic proportions, simply wow. I thought what happen in africa a few weeks ago was strange, but seeing it in real life in winters night air over the ocean takes the cake. Get out of the house, climb on your roof be in awe.

  • You are very lucky to see such a bright meteor, lucky as well that it wasn't heading in your direction!

  • Gemini! Wish I could see it but, I live in the city.

  • i saw it sunday 4am phil. time...

    wew that's cool....

    wahahaha

  • well, got kids out of bed and all bundled up b4 i realized OHIO IS TOO FRIGGIN CLOUDY 2 SEE anything more interesting than the corn grow. Sigh!

  • wosh i saw it

  • too dang cold to stay out tonight. saw some good ones though. and last night aswell

  • Thank You verymuch for uploading !

Won't be able to see this meteor shower thanks to Cyclone Ward!

  • I do sympathize, our Irish weather is notorious! I've learned not to get my hopes up when anything interesting happens, like meteor showers! Clear Skies!

  • ver ynice! I was un a suburban town and saw 5 over 20 minutes, It's gone cloudy here atm, but hoping it'll clear over the next few hours!

  • Cheers, this is a shower that's worth staying up for!
