  • I'v seen that when you get into the real good jazz, You dont see all the bickering and bitching in the coments. Must be a conection. I finde it very refreshing.

  • @MrAccessallareas - thanks, that's the best compliment. Wish I had time to post vids; I've "taken" so much enjoyment from other people's vids, that I want to "give" back some, but life is just Too Crazy right now, mostly due to economy.... Keep On Swingin!

  • @MrAccessallareas - oh yeah, as I guess you can tell, I have another channel, more oriented towards the Pre-Bop "pop" swing of the 1930s-40s, "that1940sguy"...

  • Oh man this is the real it. What a groovy treat. You have just made my day for a week. Please laod more.

  • sorry, i meant 0:45

  • @whitestboyalive1 - Sorry, I just realized that I didn't explicitly put the song titles in the video description. 0:45 is a switchover point from the 78 rpm record to the 33 rpm record, so I'm not sure which title you want, but I put them both in the revised description.

  • what's the song playing art 1:45? love that feel.. thanks in advance

  • please play ONE version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Glad you enjoyed!

You're not kidding - I'll literally be "Digging" them out! Hopefully soon after I get Christmas presents mailed out & a couple record players restored & sold on eBay to help "balance the budget"!

  • My father's all time favorite album was Amad Jamal live @ the Pershing......RIP daddy..

  • Isn't it amazing how music can stir a memory like a photo.

    Never knew my father.

Was very close to my granddad tho. He first got me into jazz. His parents were German immigrants; he led a local jazz band in his hometown in the 1930's. Loved swing era music, especially Duke Ellington. Back then as a kid, I thought the music I heard of Duke's was just "strange", but now he's my favorite too. Granddad started my 78 collection for me, getting family members to send old records.

  • The late Frankie Newton was my mother in law's uncle! My wife's great uncle. but of course he passed away at a young age. My wife never knew him, but my mother in law has memories of "Uncle Little frank"

  • Too Cool! No one famous in my family (Granddad never made any recordings). Wow, he must've been good, played with lots of greats, I've probably enjoyed listening to lots of his records! I've got a horn (shown in the video) but just haven't made time in life to really learn to play well - someday maybe.

    Very cool!
