  • Glad I ran across this remembrance video, with the anniversary of Been's death coming up next month. The world is lacking, without him. I've had an earworm for The Call for months now - a very enjoyable earworm to have. I'd kind of lost them for awhile and the rediscovery has been very gratifying! The Call's one of those timeless bands I could listen to every day (and it seems that recently I've been doing just that).

  • @acommondisaster As long as you listen, they are not forgotten - TJR

  • Thanks for doing this! I knew Mike and Tom and they were and are some of the most inspiring and genuine musicians and people I ever encountered. I will always listen and never forget their legacy.

  • @LIGHTintheHALLS Thanks for sharing your memories and watching the show - TJR

  • Great piece. The Call is still one of favorite bands unfortunately Michael Been is no longer with us but his music will live forever. I met Michael a few times throughout the years, what a class man and soul..Great Guy and God Bless You Michael..

  • @LBjim Thanks for sharing your memories with us - TJR

  • We had Modern Romans because of the success of "When the Walls Came Down" from the showing on MTV. WE used to crank that song because of its hard lyrical reference to the U.S. and soviet movement. At @ 3:16 Michael used to adlib and yell "WOOF-WOOF", At that point we would turn the radio down and yell "Woof-Woof" along with Michael and then turn the radio back up. Great memories. Now I have "The Call The Mercury Years. R.I.P. Michael and thanks for the tribute guys !

  • @jrushmen Thanks for watching. Glad you liked the video.

  • thank you for this video i love the call and brmc made the connection just a few weeks ago r.i.p michael been

  • @robinpaula45 You are welcome. glad you appreciated the video. TJR

  • Wow. I just learned today that Michael Been passed away last summer. And just a few months before that I was revisiting old The Call songs, listening to them on road trips.

Back in the day, this was one of the only contemporary bands that spoke to a wounded and confused 16 year-old's heart. I'll always remember Been's and his music.

  • @realdaveed Thanks for sharing you memories with us. - TJR

  • I would listen to the call early on in Texas when noone had a clue who they were. Later I moved to Santa Cruz CA and would go see The Call at the Catalyst many times. A great loss to the music world!! Thanks guys for this tribute!

  • @johnnygnote You are welcome. It's good to know that other people remember this band.

  • Thank you Robert & Tj for your tribute, wish all this happened in the 70's when the Call would have gotten a good bit more attention. Their words and music were a major impact on so many and I thank God that they played at colleges and universities nationwide during that time. RIP Michael, rockin' with the angels in our heavenly home.

  • @YeshuaKingsKid Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings about The Call with us.

  • The Call remains one of the most moving bands I have ever heard to date. Thanks guys.

  • "did not have the success they deserved" boy did you guys nail that ! each of us has our ten bands in our lifetime we can't believe never got more play - The Call is on my personal top ten list. Bless you both for remembering Micheal Been and his band...

  • @knycity Thanks. There are so many great artists not getting the attention they deserve and that is why Robert and I are glad to do this. Thanks again for writing us.

  • I hope you write better than you present yourselves. I appreciate the tribute but this is a pretty weak video. BTW, the original album is actually vinyl NOT CD. NExt time try reading more on the CALL website at .the-call-band and you may come off like you actually know about the band.

    Regardless, the tribute is necessary.

  • i saw them every time they played in albuquerque in the 80s it was the best music ive had the pleasure of experiencing!

  • @grikney Thanks. We appreciate you taking the time to share your memories of The Call with all of us.

  • Fantastic album! Second track I Still Believe was a hit here in the Netherlands at the time.Glad to have it on LP and CD...

I read of his death but wasn´t aware it was the Been from The Call.

May he rest in peace and thank you for bringing back some nice memories.

    Peter
