It was written in Hebrew in the Old Testament because it contained God's covenant with the Jews until the promised messiah came, and then the New Testament was written in Greek because it showed how Jesus fulfilled all the prophesies of the Messiah who was to come and it opened up God's covenant to everyone all over the world and Greek was the common language.
