  • yep...I lived in the Old Jindabyne town from 1950 to 1956.we actually lived in a migrant camp downstream on the snowy.3kms from Jindabyne.no electricity no toilets no bath no fridge no radio no nothing,not even a floor,we lived in a tent,but we had the best fun ever,fishing for trout,hunting rabbits.exploring the hills and gullys.making canoes,and rafts..ever see the movie 'smiley gets a gun'that was us.our life style..sometimes we even went to school,yes kids came to school on horseback.

  • Yep there was, they bought everyone out and blew up all the buildings to make way for the snowy mountains hydroelectric power plant dam - see about.nsw.gov.au/view/suburb/J­indabyne/

  • very cool, just moved to jindy, from the victorian coast. I wondered what vis would be like in lake. What depth did you guys hit? and roughly what part of lake are you in? You've got me keen to go for a dive!
