I bought a used soul silvergame, and i see that there is already a saved game on it. Me looking in the pokebox and what did i find? a fucking shiny, arceus, celebi, dialga, red gyarados, shiny sneasel, shiny tentacool, and 900 masterballs and 900 rare candy`s!. It's really not that much considering that I've been randomly hunting for hundreds of hours, plus I normally hunt with 6 pick pokemon. I've gotten more berries than anything. Of course getting pp ups, TMs and nuggets are nice, but thousands of berries really sucks...lol.

No real method. You can run away or defeat wild pokemon, it's basically just a game of luck. If you want a specific shiny, try to go to routes and areas where they are most prevalent or where only one specific pokemon appears. Good luck.

There's really no best way, you can run/surf up and down a route/area/cave or fish. It all depends on what you like. If you want to encounter a specific pokemon, then I suggest that you go to an area/route/cave where only one specific pokemon appears.

You can try to breed using the masuda method on D/P/Pt or do random encounters in diglett cave on FR/LG. The masuda method will give you better odds, but if you also don't like to hatch, random encounters in your only choice. I wish you lots of luck.

and you always gotta remember, just cause the odds are 1/8192, doesnt mean you can never get 2 in a row, it can mean you dont get one till your 25000th encounter. just gotta have the patience, and donny, you definitely got it :P

I'm not bragging, but to answer your question. I've encounter over 900 and I currently have 311 species. Yup, I'll probably go for HG because that's what liked when pokemon Gold and Silver came out. I'll still buy SS later, as usual, got to have both. That's a great idea. Yeah it would be cool to play the game at the same time. My wifi's not working at the moment, but the only way to get wifi is to get at free signal at like starbucks or buy your own wifi router. Great, the DSi is awesome.

Yup no real method. You can run away or defeat wild pokemon, it's basically just a game of luck. If you want a specific shiny, try to go to routes and areas where they are most prevalent or where only one specific pokemon appears. You can also hatch and do SRs (soft resets) on legendary and stationary pokemon. All have the same odds of finding a shiny, 1 in 8192 or 8 in 65536.

Thanks for the congrats and rating. Yeah, that's what I use to do on 3rd gen, but since the poke radar gave better odds, that's what I focused on. If I want to increase my species count now, I have no choice but to hatch, SR or do random encounters just like the good ol' days. The radar was fun while there were chainables to chain. It's been an on going challenge for me to find as many as I can since 2007. My older sister encouraged me to try and find them all, at 1st I was like, it's impossible. I now have 311 different species and have caught over 900. SR means to soft reset the game. It's a technique that shiny hunters use when trying to find a shiny legendary or stationary pokemon. You would save the game, encounter the pokemon and if it's not shiny, then you'd SR and do it over and over again, until it appears as a shiny.
