A team that was jus minutes away from getting eliminated against Nigeria, a late finish against Spain in the quarters and two early goals against Bulgaria ensured that Italy reached the finals. Brazil on the other hand owe only one match, the semis against Sweden, to Romario.

Brazil didnot rely on Romario as Italy did on Baggio. Brazil infact had to rely on others at crucial moments to take them thru. But as history shows the media most often tend to go with achievers (esp if they've a pre tournament hype). In '94 Bebeto's contribution to Brazil is as important as Romario's. Then there's Branco's freekick, Dunga's omnipresence and finally Taffarael's hands.

When they won a world cup, they outplay thier opponents. You cannot play a defensive soccer 100% of the time and win a world cup. Can you?
