It's way too easy to ruin a teachers career these days. All a kid has to do is say that a teacher did something and all hell breaks lose. There is no due process. The accused is presumed guilty until proven innocent. It's a really sad state of affairs.

her name was cleared in the eyes of the court, but the community is still divided over it and her contract with the school was terminated before the school year was up. she can't even go to the school now without people looking at her like a leper (sorry if that is misspelled). i don't recall anyone getting any money over all of this. yeah, her life was ruined. at least as far as teaching is concerned...

I agree with desperategirl932 . Surely these messages , if innocent , could not be decoded without a reference back to the teacher . So if nothing else she was encouraging further contact and keeping the pot boiling . It may well be that nothing untoward occurred but I think that she cannot now admit that she was playing games with these boys .

there were 3 people in this french class...i was one of them. i know EXACTLY what happened....all the details, all the truth....ive known matt and chayce for most of my life and graduated with both of them. its impossibly to pass judgement on either the students or joelle unless you were there. so just keep that in mind.........

I've notice a a question concerning the fact that she had the students' phone numbers. Believe it or not it's not all that uncommon. My sponser for a club I'm president of has mine number along with everyone elses. This is to make sure all of our events are ready to go and that our members can attend. I've been out bowling with teachers who were apart of my church as a church activity. I even been given a ride home from a couple of teachers. Times have change, with both bad and good results.

the only thing that I don't understand in all of this is why the teacher wrote in code to the student, and how the student was so creative in making up perfectly what the code meant that seemed to make more sense than what the teacher said it meant. why would a grown woman, a teacher write notes to a student and in code? also since when do teachers have the students phone number and call them over to help them move things. seems like this woman could have asked a neighbor.
