  • do you think you could do a video on post spins?

  • Dwight Howard disliked this 4 times.

  • @rexryanify Well, without a doubt, it would really help his offense, right?

  • Hey coach why r u only allowed to use two hands around the basket

  • @sunboytv not really sure how that came about, but it's been a staple forever!

  • @ShotScience Good for you. It is a great move and difficult to stop if executed properly.

  • @sunboytv You can use two hands if you want to.

The two handed power dribble is just short, explosive and in better control in traffic around the basket.

  • Why wouldn't the "power dribble" ,that you do in this video, be considered a double dribble? Can you ever dribble with both hands like that?

  • @jaythemammoth Both hands are allowed in a "Power-Dribble." Around the basket is the only place where you can use this type of dribble.

  • I play Center and i need a lot of tips to get better. Do u have any besides this?

  • @Victum51 Check out our Sky Hook and other post moves.

  • how to upgrade my muscle memory??

  • @DScreamo Muscle Memory comes from a ton of PRACTICE! No other answer.

  • @ShotScience do you thinkyou could do a video about post spins?

  • CHASE AND TOM ARE HELPFUL ...

  • @619123ish Thanks. We really work at it!

  • These vids are great and are helping me a lot as a center. Thanks!

  • @MohammeddKhan We are glad to hear this. Please stay tuned for more in the near future.

  • Can you teach us the dream shake?

  • @allenback6 check out our "Finishes at the Rim" video! It's in there!

  • @allenback6 This will be included down the line, probably next year.

  • Really good stuff but way too many cut scenes

  • @Funpants94 Sorry, but we want these vids to be short and effective. Thanks for your comment, however.

  • If the player holds the ball with two hands and bounces it, isn't it a double dribble?

  • @lukelee21 No it is not a double dribble, it is called a power dribble and completely legal.

  • Question. when the player with the ball goes to pivot, and bounces the ball on the floor, isn't he double dribbling?

  • @MrJim255 nope, not at all. It's called a Power Dribble.

  • ob·sti·nate: adjective: firmly or stubbornly adhering to one's purpose, opinion, etc.; not yielding to argument, persuasion, or entreaty.

  • /watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_IJDbMbfSg4

  • @Shareefllovekdj not really a drop step or a power dribble. If you don't take our word for the whole power dribble thing, that's okay by us, but ask any coach worth their salt and they'll tell you the same thing. If you don't want to believe us, then you're free to do it any way that you feel fit! We're really here to help players be better and have all the tools possible to do so.

  • Is it a TRAVEL if I drop step without dribbling?

  • @maduka123456 probably. If you catch the ball in stride, then maybe not.

  • I love your videos! They're so helpful! and you explain them very well. Thank youu

  • @hyun3421 We are glad we can be of help to you. Stay tuned and please "Spread the Word."

  • As usual, better fundamentals on the ladies Youtube search "21 - Crab dribble/drop step" to see legal execution.

  • @Shareefllovekdj Whatever works for you!

  • The ball must be "shot gunned" down with one hand. The ball starts in two hands but is sent to the floor with just one!

  • @Shareefllovekdj No!! The ball is sent to the floor with BOTH HANDS! This is a legal dribble!

  • @ShotScience Sharee, if you will check on online for the "Power Dribble"you will see it is a common and legal dribble: Power Dribble

A dribble used in the low post involving a two handed, short dribble, usually in line with the middle of your body. A wide base is made with the feet, then a two handed "power dribble" is used.

  • @ShotScience Like the carrying and change of pivots that are commonly taught. Being commonly taught does not make it legal! I quoted the rule book now if you've seen a section that says except when it is called a "power dribble".....

  • @Shareefllovekdj we have never taught carrying or changing pivots. The two-handed power dribble is a staple in basketball. It is only used (and legal) in the post. If you wish not to believe us, that is fine. You will most assuredly see it used at every level of basketball. In fact, a one-handed power dribble in the post would be considered out of the ordinary. The two-handed power dribble is a one-and-up dribble.

  • @ShotScience I'm sorry. I didn't mean to give the impression that you did. To your credit you have stressed not carrying or changing pivots in your videos that is why I was shocked to find this two handed dribble which IS prevalent at all levels of basketball, although it is disallowed by the rules. I can show you the rule but you can't show me the disadvantage of using one hand to dribble in that same spot.

  • @Shareefllovekdj there simply isn't anything in the rulebook that states that you can't start a dribble with both hands (it actually says that you can). As soon as you scoop it up with both hands after the dribble, you can no longer continue to dribble. The advantage of the double as opposed to the single handed power dribble is that you're able to get a much faster, lower dribble that gets back to your hands faster. It is legal and always has been.

  • @Shareefllovekdj - Dribbling the ball with two hands is allowed as long as the ball only bounces once. It would be no different than catching the ball, putting it in one hand, dirbbling once then catching the ball. No difference under the FIBA or NBA rules. If he bounced the ball twice using two hands it would be a double dribble.

  • @duffmanbegins Great! You must have access to a rule book that reads differently than mine sooo.... Just cut and paste the rule or url that reads a two handed dribble is allowed!

  • @Shareefllovekdj - @Shareefllovekdj - Article 24 of the FIBA rule book states - A dribble starts when a player, having gained control of a live ball on the playing court, throws, taps, rolls, dribbles it on the floor. A dribble ends when the player touches the ball with both hands simultaneously or permits the ball to come to rest in one or both hands. A player shall not dribble a second time after his first dribble has ended.

Nothing says you can't start your dribble with two hands and end it

  • A double dribble is a violation in which a player dribbles the ball, clearly holds it with a combination of either one or two hands (while either moving or stationary), and then proceeds to dribble again without first either attempting a field goal or passing off to a teammate. Double dribbling also occurs if a player tries to dribble using both hands at the same time. ~NBA Official Rules Rule 4, Section II, a.

  • @Shareefllovekdj Your interpretation of this tule is in-correct!

  • @Shareefllovekdj - Yes, you can't dribble with two hands. What's new? Doesn't mean the ball can't leave from two hands, it just means both hands cannot simmultaneously touch the ball mid dribble and you can't move the ball from one hand to the other without it touching the ground. If you do either of those things the dribble has ended. This guy ends his dribble then shoots. Legal.

  • @TheAmbbarr2 Thanks for your contribution. We appreciate another voice who knows what's up! Thanks.

  • @ShotScience - It seems to have shut him up finally.

  • @duffmanbegins We hope so!

  • Is it the move that set up Shaq's 'Black Tornado', or did he spin away from the basket?

  • @TimHowardII The "Tornado" was a combination of a couple of moves, but the drop step was part sometimes.

  • wow this video is great. look even after 34,000 views the youtube community hasn't been able to dislike it

  • @guitarpianist thanks! We work really hard to make the best videos we can for you guys!!

  • isnt it a double dribble if you have both hands on the ball and then dribble?

  • @tabishsid14 No, this is not a double dribble!

  • @tabishsid14 only if u stop your dribble first

  • @tabishsid14 - No it is not. Unless you have already dribbled, but he only just received the pass.

  • 1:36 travel :)

  • @dtankut might look that way because of the slow motion, but it isn't and would never be called.

  • very nice video now i own my opponents with this move in low post :D

  • @BazhoFromTheHood Thanks so much for your comment. We hope you will own them, but we have other post moves videos and will be offering several more. Stay tuned and please, "Spread the Word."

  • do you need to add the power dribble because my coach tells me to do the drop step and just lay it in the basket

  • @adidas80699 If you are going to close the distance to the basket you need a dribble and we believe that the "power dribble" is the most efective way to get there with power. Cannot imagine a Drop Step without a power dribble or else it may be just a step and layup which is entirely different. Hope you understand our explanation. Thanks for your question.

  • @ShotScience do you feel that this can be a consistent go-to move? besides for this and the sky hook i have no other moves. Do you guys have any other moves that i should check out? Thank you very much.

  • @megamante360 Thanks for your questions. We will be posting other moves from the Low, Medium and High posts in the near future. Most moves we make are the result of where and how the defender is playing us. They dictate which move we should make. Stay tuned for more post moves.

  • great video i alway use the drop step is simply but extremly effective NICE

  • @OGB8 Thanks so much. It is a very effective move.

  • What strategies do you have tobe quick with the ball. I tend to be slow! HELP!!

  • @dropsblood PRACTICE will help you here. We often are slow because we lack confidence in what we are trying to do. Practice a ton on your moves and as your confidence grows you will become an "animal."

  • @ShotScience "THANKS you actually said what's wrong with me without even seeing how iplay! You're right i have lack of confidence when playing.

  • @dropsblood Okay, let's do something about it starting today!

  • just curious how tall are you guuys??? lol

  • @therealdeal3161 Shayne is 6'5".

  • @ShotScience damn thats tall O_O

  • @therealdeal3161 For post players that's pretty average.

  • Coach Tom should be an Nba coach !

  • @9tailednarut0 Thanks so much, but Coach Tom really enjoys coaching young player to get better. Thanks again.

  • yeah a power dribble.....

    i do that sometimes

  • @TheEricAugusto This is good Eric!

  • the sky hook is ten times better...

  • @JupiterPhareal These are two really different moves that are executed because of where the defender is playing you. They are not in competition with one another. No problem for you to like one more than the other. You may really need the Drop Step sometimes and it will be there.

  • you all are very good.... thumbs up..........

  • @arsalan186 thanks so much for your very nice comment.

  • @ShotScience please coach do some tutorials on how to play in a team, how to create space to get maximum passes from team mates and what should be the strategy of all players to play in team, and how to avoid misunderstandings between players please this is very important subject must do tutorials on it

  • @arsalan186 We will give this idea some thought and see if we can do something on it in the future. Tahnsk for the idea.

  • @ShotScience

If u do that in a game wouldn't that b double dribbling bc ur dribbling the ball with two hands

  • @kenny2467897 This "Power Dribble is allowed one time without it being a violation.

  • @ShotScience

If u do that in a game wouldn't that be double dribble because ur dribbling the ball with two hands

  • @kenny2467897 No! This is a POWER DRIBBLE. You can use this in the basket area, but you get only one bounce.

  • 1:03 double dribble

  • @kenny2467897 Power Dribble!!

  • i always do this but somtimes i slide my back foot and the ref calls travel

  • @Pantsinthishouse Sliding that foot can result in a travel call.

  • Hey ShotScience! love your videos! They helped me a lot! Keep making them! :D Also, you should create and sell Dvd's with different topics, such as offence, defense, ball handling, foot work, post moves, etc. :)

  • @primemavsfan Thanks so much for your comments. We may in the future do something with our videos like you suggest.

  • the guy in black, move pivot foot before the ball left his hand... travel...

  • @jim4ge You have very good eyes. Shayne did shuffle his pivot foot. He could be called for this!

  • Wait...you can dribble with two hands? (power dribble)...a ref wouldn't call double-dribble on that?

  • @phester061594452 In this situation you can use both hands for this explosive dribble. Have not ever seen it called!

  • Just watched these vids on your channel today and subbed right away..

  • @jenjam09: Thanks so much. How about our "Sky Hook" video? That's one you will have to check out as well.

  • @ShotScience Yup. Watched most of your vids in one sitting. lol. Especially those post move vids and defense. Thnx alot. Really improved my fundamentals..

  • @jenjam09 Well thanks so much for your comment. That must have been a long day to watch all of them at one sitting. Keep us up to speed on your progress and please "Spread the Word." :)

  • i REALLY think you guys are goin be popular!!

  • @Enokha: Well thanks you so much for these nice words. We really enjoy what we are doing and hope others feel that our vids will help them with their game.

  • i just started watching this today :D thank you, i'm going to watch ALL your vids and use it to my advantage... and yes, i did SUBSCRIBE :D

  • @Clapuz1203: Thanks so much for your support and glad we could offer something that helps your game. Stay tuned for more.

  • Every move youguyshown has worked except this one. They pack you from behind before you even jump. The first second you take off toward to the goal they already anticipated what your going to do.

  • @Daxter3939: One thing that works really well here is the "Look Fake" as it gives you a little advantage. Check it out in the video.

  • Coach I love how you say NO FADING. I FADE SO MUCH. ARGH... and the 1 MISSISSIPPI THING I DEFINETLY NEED TO REMEMBER THAT.

    Btw, Coach.

Don't you have to use a lot of body when you do your drop step? because people teach me that whenever I do my drop step...I should swing my leg keep my elbows up stick my butt out and force them out of my side. like *shaq*

  • @YoooPatrick: Your description is correct, especially if you are a big bodied guy!

  • great stuff

    keep it up

    subscribed

  • @smarteffort: Thanks so much. We really appreciate very much.

  • he looks like phil jackson XD

  • @pampochi123: O.K.!!!!!

  • @pampochi123 no he doesnt..

  • what would I do if I'm double teamed when i do drop step?

  • @sanjiblue1: A question here is: "Where is the double coming from?"

  • @sanjiblue1: One question: "Where is the double coming from?"

  • @ShotScience from the other side of the low post.

  • @sanjiblue1: If they have shut off your path to the basket you need to kick the ball back outside. You could, if in position to score, use the up-fake and go to the rack anyway looking for a foul on them. A final thought, this person comes from your backside and they are leaving someone open when they do this , look to drop a bounce pass to their man and hope that defensive rotation does not close him off also. Good question.

  • @ShotScience thank you very much! :) I'll do my best

  • @sanjiblue1: Good luck and keep "growin your game!"

  • by definition it is a double dribble but if you play ball, you know u can take that 1 dribble like that in the post... you do that on the perimiter, they will call something on you

  • @MrOkosa: You are correct here!

  • The power dribble isn't a double dribble because you only take ONE dribble with the strong 2 handed pound. If you were to take more than one dribble in this way, then it would be a double dribble call.

  • @Ace3144: Ace, you are the "MAN."

  • @ShotScience Isnt power dribble a double dribble?

  • @DarkZork9590: No, it is not!

  • Isnt power dribble a double dribble? @shotscience please rep

  • hey shotscience do u hv a video on shooting from the low post like kobe? whenever i try it i airball alot.

  • @lol2its7me: We will have Post Shooting coming up in the near future.

  • Hi Coach. I am from Serbia (a freshmen ). My dream is to get a scholarship and go to America for College.I really dont know the system in America. How can i get a scolarship for highscool to finish one year in America as a Sophtmore,Junior or Senior?I am talking for a sport scolarship for basketball ofcourse... thanks in advance =)

  • @jovicakcar: Well thank you so much for your letter about a scholarship to play here in High School basketball. High Schools are not allowed to provide scholarships to player from the U.S or from anywhere else. There are college scholarships , but you would need to be discovered and then meet the requirements for the NCAA. The best way to get here and play in one of High Schools is to find a Foreign Exchange Student Program that is accepted in the U.S. We are not allowed to really help you.

  • why that not a double dribble?

  • 0 dislikes!! :D

  • @BARUtubbig: We like this!!!!!

  • can you please make a guide to how to rebound like dennis rodman? (his techniques of rebounding )

  • @ronaldruslan: We will be including this in our video plans.

  • yeah they helped me alot!!

  • @emil2195: Great!!!!!!!

  • i hav a question...........i have been training with a new team and our coach pays a lot of attention on the physical training. Since I've started my quads are hurting (probably cause i am not used to similar training. The question is: Will this continue for long and is there any exercise that will help me reduce the pain?

  • @TheThealbanianking P.S. i am 13

  • @TheThealbanianking when you start a new training program, you typically will have a bit of soreness. This usually goes away after a week or two of regular training. The best way to get over this is to really work on your flexibility and make sure you're VERY warmed-up before you start any of the training. Our Vertical Training Videos would be great for you to check out!

  • @ShotScience Thank you.I've seen the videos and i will work on the exercises regularly.Once again Thank you

  • @TheThealbanianking: You are very welcome. Let us know if we can help you more with your game.

  • i have a question the power dribble is with two hands, but is'nt that travaling

  • @indyjanta55: No it is NOT! If you were to continue it then it would be a violation.

  • @ShotScience cool thanks !

  • hello shotscience!. can you make a video on how to do floaters the right way??i mean the difference between a normal jumpshot and a floater; the only thing i know is that you dont follow through in floaters..is that right?

  • @emil2195: We will place this on our lengthy list of things to do videos on. Thanks for your suggestion. We hope you like our videos up to now.

  • is face in the end is kinda creepy..

  • @WhiteGuyBlackEdition: Well, this is merely a "pregnant pause."

  • Nice demo. The drop step is the premier low post move. I would have added that its essential to work both sides- right handed players love the left block but the moves are predictable if you cant do them left handed, too. Also, you can use the drop step on the high side too, you just need another finish, something like a baby hook or push shot.

  • @MrPainfulTruth yep, you definitely want to be able to perform any post move from either side of the key. The guys in the video are all right handers and running the move from the weak-hand side.

As for the high side drop step, they are classified as a different move and we'll be covering them, too. Stay tuned ;)

  • @ShotScience excellent - i cant wait, this was the first QUALITY video covering the low post i have seen here in ages. Can't wait.

  • @MrPainfulTruth: Once again, thanks so much for your comments. They are really appreciated very much.

  • @MrPainfulTruth: Thanks for your comment and yes you are correct about the left vs. right drop steps. We are pleased you like our video.

  • hey coach, is it legit to power dribble with two hands then land on both feet simultaneously then continue the dribble with one hand as you land creating a series of pivot moves?

  • @0nekhmerXViet with the power dribble, you are only allowed one and then you're done. You can't continue to dribble after you throw it down. If you do, they'll definitely call you for a travel. It's meant to be a super fast, quick dribble to get you some separation. Make sense?

  • thanks :)

  • @0YuNgRiStIc0 thanks so much for watching!!

  • wouldn't doing that power dribble with both hands be a double dribble?

  • @BlastFromYesterday: NO! It is not considered a double dribble.

  • @BlastFromYesterday double dribble is when u first dribble the ball then catch it with ur two hands, then dribble again.

  • @BlastFromYesterday It's not a double dribble if it's your first dribble after the catch.

  • Great video! I need to work on my footwork for this in-game so I get it right and practice will help! Ya'll got any tips of posting up against zone defense and how to draw a foul? That'll help me tonnes, thanks!

  • @flaminchar220: Hey Flamin, thanks for your nice comment. Practice this a ton and you will dominate. Posting against zones in a little different. Check out our video on "Sealing in the Post." This is more useful against a zone defender as they usually are not on top of you. The Drop Step still works against them however. We will have more move
