"What would you do to change the healthcare system?" At the time I would of had to analyzed the problem, not force people to buy healthcare like Obamacare. Our system was already fine at the time, people keep telling me about the uninsured. Its not hard to get medical benefits, I was 18 2 years ago and could of had some but did not need them.
"Hate speech is a term for speech that attacks or disparages a person or group of people based on their social or ethnic group, such as race, gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or lack thereof, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, language ability, ideology, social class, occupation, appearance (height, weight, skin color, et cetera), mental capacity, and any other distinction that might be considered by some as a liability."
with ur definition anything negative is hate speech. by ur definition you cant talk bad about the president. ur definition is nothing more then PC policing. so by ur logic if i say nazis are evil thats hate speech because it attacks there ideology. pinhead is not hate speech. ur an idiot if you think it is. opps. thats hate speech cause i made fun of ur mental capacity. "might be considered by some a liability". who decides that. do you like free speech. do you us it. geee last i checked you did
Wow, can't use proper English, champ? Allow me to explain.
"Attacks or disparages." See, this is about context. What is the context of those items I pointed out? "From parts unknown" is a great one to use as an example. What is the intent behind that phrase in its context? Obviously, to imply that Obama is not a "real" American, is from some other, alien place, and is thus a fraud. This plays on the fact that he has a skin color different than most Americans "the other," and thus is-
opps. you made fun of me for not using proper English. some might consider that a liability and by ur definition hate speech. why do you criticize these radio people for using what you say is hate speech. then you use what fits ur definition of hate speech. hahaha! ur a hypocrite. pinhead. opps i said pinhead thats hate speech.
Did you even read what I said? No, it isn't, because I am not a public figure trying to make the entire country hate you (or, for that matter, shoot at you, which is the ultimate end of this charming little path). It is a personal attack. TEH INTERNETS English is a personal pet peeve of mine.
And it IS racist. Please, the Tea Parties, the angry public forums, where were these (almost universally White and old) people during the Bush Administration? Bush, who was about as Conservative as-
i like how you changed ur definition to suit ur own needs and as for the tea partys be mostly white. are you saying that you have to be diverse to protest or its racist. what about when mostly blacks protested bush. does that make them racist what about the people who wernt at the tea partys but still criticize obama are they racist or is that ok because it was only one white person. the dems are losers if they need to hide behind the prez. skin color the dems are the only who bring up race.
No, I did not change anything. I gave you the dictionary definition (but I guess Webster was a dirty Liberal too, right?), and then expounded on it. Are you just making things up now?
And AGAIN, a duck is a duck sometimes. Mostly blacks did not protest Bush. African Americans make up 9% of the US population. I dare you to watch the inauguration parade from 2001 (the one where people were throwing eggs at Bush's motorcade) and tell me the majority of those protesters were Black.
And no, simply protesting what they perceive as overly strong government is not inherently racist. But the timing and the invective makes it very, very, VERY suspect. And so does the whole, you know, Obama is a secret Muslim thing. Or the poster of Obama as a witch doctor. Or Limbaugh trying to suggest that a white kid getting punched by a black kid on a school bus is the result of "Obama's America." Eric Erickson actually had the nerve to suggest Obama won the Nobel Prize because of-
-Affirmative Action. That is racist by definition. So, yeah, the Conservatives kind of bring it up, too.
Wait, wait, wait. You aren't even familiar with these broadcasters? So you have no idea what I'm referencing, or even what you're complaining about? And now you're declaring "personal attacks" (Oh no! Not on the well-regarded INTERNET!), and running off? Are you just a griefer, or what?
what do you mean i dont know what im complaining about. all i said was there isnt hake speech on this vid. ur the dem/lib whatever that is bringing up race. as dems always do. im not declaring personal attacks you specifically said you made a personal attack on me.
SIGH. This is turning into a temporal causality loop. You declared personal attacks as an excuse to cover your exit. And much like calling a duck a duck on racism, I'm going to call a duck a duck on someone who refuses to take the time to write in a way that can actually be understood. And now, you're sidestepping everything I point out and going back to the beginning. And deliberately ignoring what I'm saying. Yes, champ, that WOULD be hate speech if you went out and yelled like that-
No. I. Didn't. I said I wasn't a public figure trying to defame you on a public stage if I called you a pinhead. I never said being a public figure was a prerequisite. You are parsing in a deliberate attempt to dodge the point.
well ur definition was so long and broad im just tryn to figure out why pinhead is considered hate speech. he didnt call her a pinhead to make people hate her.
Context! Take it in context with the rest of what he's saying. I already explained this, I'm not going over this again. And that's correct. If you're simply saying, in private, or to a friend or some such, something along those lines, or even to the target, it is not hate speech by its dictionary (or, by the way, occasionally legal) definition. It's just hateful invective. Either way, the person in question is an ass, but not one with a motive.
this vid takes it outa context and doesnt show everything. i am taking it in context. beck never threatened her life nor did he tell people to hate her. how is it hate speech. it doesnt fit ur definition. he didnt even call her pinhead to push an agenda he called her it because she didnt have her facts strait and thought he didnt care about the bailouts.
SIGH. As for the context, look up the transcript of the show. It's available online. Try a LEXIS-NEXIS search. He said it in the broader context of implying that she is a moron, and dangerous, because she does not have his Conservative worldview. He's pushing the idea that all Liberals are evil. Interestingly, I don't think Beck believes 80% of what comes out of his mouth. He's a ratings whore more than anything, unlike, say, Sean Hannity, who actually believes most of the crap he spews.
i have the clip on my page its about 8 min long and he does say she is a moron. not because she doesnt have conservative views but because she thought he didnt care about bailouts. so it still doesn't fit ur description of hate speech. dude. pinhead is not hate speech. ur a real drama queen if you truly believe pinhead is hate speech in any context.
-after all, all people fall on a spectrum of politics, not an easily-defined singularity point. I'm ultra-ultra Progressive on social issues, but somewhat moderate (at best, I'm a Woodrow Wilson/JFK-style "New Liberal") on economic issues, and downright hawkish on the military. As for the transcript, again (Jesus, AGAIN), I'm referring to the entire show. What did she call about? What was he talking about before? What is the overall point of his show? To claim that Liberals are Fascists.
He's calling her names (and generally freaking out), because she DARES to disagree with him and call him out on his blatant hypocrisy. He's calling her names, on a nationally-syndicated radio show, and implying she is an idiot. Hate. Speech. As defined way the hell back. And I can't help but notice your fixating on "pinhead" and ignoring all the others...
no sorry dude. pinhead is not hate speech. he calls her names because she accuses him of not caring about the bailouts and refers to him as "you people". making a false accusation is different from a disagreement . and it doesnt matter if its a radeo show as you already said you dont have to be a public figure so the show is irrelevant. sorry dude. it still doesnt meet ur definition. i keep reading UR definition and other opinions and it just doesnt fit for hate speech as defined by you.
Buddy, I just explained, no less than three times, that it does. That he is calling her derogatory names ("pinhead" has very nasty origins) on a national stage, in order to specifically demean her, in an effort to cast her, and any like her, as intrinsically stupid and dangerous.
And again, why are you fixated on this one and ignoring all the others? You'll recall, your entire point to commenting on my two-month-old comment was to say that all of the examples I gave were not hate speech.
i focus on pinhead because if you think pinhead is hate speech you obviously dont know what hate speech is. i dont think anyone knows the origins a pinhead but today no its not derogatory. so sorry dude. not hate speech.
Okay, friend, I'm becoming increasingly convinced you're just a griefer, because you don't bother to check anything.
"Microencephalitcs (people with genetically tiny heads) were first called pinheads due to their having very small heads. Part of this condition was that the person who suffered from it often acted in a "foolish" or "simple" manner due to the mental retardation that came with the disease. It was from this that the term pinhead for someone who was seen to be foolish came."
oay i dont think most people now that. you shouldnt act all high because you happen to know that. so as i said today its not as derogatory as it may have been 100 years aqo or whatever. do you really ecpect people to look up the origins of every stupid comment that is made or think of them as in todays standards. and by todays standards pinhead is not hateful. at lest beck was inconsiderate of her feelings. at most he was mean. but he was far from hate speech.
High and mighty? This is the fourth time, by my count, that you made a broad, carte blanche and flat out wrong statement about something without bothering to check your facts on it. This is not a good trend. And are we seriously circling right back to the beginning again? I've already explained why it IS. By dictionary definition. I really could care less if you, personally, don't think it is. And since you continue to ignore the others, I take it you concede that they ARE hate speech?
dude. ur dictionary definition was so broad that any little insult or navigate comment could be twisted into hate speech. you also said you used the dictionary definition then elaborated with ur own words. all you got top do to find hate speech is use common sense. common sense should tell you pinhead or stupid lib is not hate speech. people say that stuff every day. i think you just dont like these guy. van jones said rep. are asshole but i doubt u would accuse him of hate speech.
OHMYGOD. Do you always dodge half of what people say, or what? No, not every little insult could be twisted that way. You see, not every insult is uttered in a public forum heard by several million people. Also, a word like "asshole" has no meaning other than "I don't like you." It is not intrinsically hateful. Also, Van Jones (who is not my favorite person, to put it mildly: freaking 9-11 conspiracy whackjobs...) was not using hate speech in that context, since it is not directed at a-
-specific person or human group, but rather an organization, and has no meaning other than, "you meanies!" in that context. CONTEXT. For the love of God, CONTEXT! I elaborated with the freaking annotations of the dictionary definition! I didn't make it up. This entire conversation is a freaking ouroboros... I keep wanting to yell, "first base!"
so if i call someone a nigger its not hates speech unless i do it in public. but you did prove that stupid demarcates wasnt hate speech. thanks for that one.
No, I didn't. I said "asshole" means nothing on its own. If, however, the CONTEXT causes it to be used with the specific intent to harm, then it is hateful. And no, that word is not hate speech in a casual context. It is if you said it to someone in the audience of a speech you're giving, though. We're talking about the literal term "hate speech" here. My best friend, a lesbian, referred to herself as a "glamor dyke" once. Obviously, she is not guilty of hate speech towards HERSELF.
what is i said nigger are smelly is that hate speech or is that being a bigot. what if i say is without intending to hurt anyone i just felt like saying it for no specific reason.
AS. I. HAVE. ALREADY. SAID. SIX. FUCKING. TIMES. No, that is NOT hate speech, IN THAT CONTEXT. That is just you being an asshat of astonishing proportions.
i dont know what a griefer is. i really just wanted to know why pinhead is hate speech. i still dont know why. though i appreciate all the time and effort you put in to explaining it to me. but just dont see how "pinhead" is hate speech. but oh well.
ur definition covers ideology so by ur definition all republican are assholes would be hate speech because it targeted a specific group that holds that ideology.
i am familiar with who limbaugh is and ur obviously trying to convince me he is racist. maybe he is i dont care. so what is ur point limbaugh is racist. fine i dont care im not defending him. im still just saying there is no hate speech on this vid.
so im not a poblic figure so if i go on the steps of the court house and start ranting about black people or jews it wouldn't be hate speech because im not a public figure. what if i was a public figure ranting about minoritys but wasnt pushing a cause. by ur definition its still not hate speech.
-because your specific intent is to inflame and get people to hate the people you hate, public figure or no. Which I have already explained. Twice. It would be hate speec regardless of what you were pushing or who you were, because you're using a public forum. Which, again, I have already explained. And congratulations, you know who Limbaugh is. But you don't know who Jim Quinn is (despite his name being IN THE VIDEO WE'RE ON, and his comments being what I referenced in the first place!
but what if i was talken bad about them for no purpose other then to talk and not make anyone hate them. would it be hate speech then. not by ur definition.
-Lyndon Johnson? Oh, that's right, a white Republican was in the White House. And now there's a scary black man. Surely, it's just a coincidence. And the whole birth certificate thing (which both Limbaugh and Quinn reference frequently), gee, that has nothing to do with the fact that he has dark skin and is named "Barack Hussein Obama." I'm sure if he was John Jefferson from Des Moines, Iowa, those same people would be challenging his birthplace. Riiiiiight. A duck is duck sometimes.
i dont listen to limbaugh and dont know who quinn is or why should i care who they reference. or what ur point is for that matter or why i should care since you use personal attacks during a debate.
-an alien, outside thing. In other words, this is a blatantly racist, and thus hateful phrase. "Pinhead" is a disparaging term that is harmless on its own, but when used in this context, in the midst of an angry rant, it is being used for one purpose: to further inflame the people listening. See, when the purpose of the words is to make people hate the target (see Quinn's partner Rose screeching at the top of her lungs, "I HATE HIM! I HATE HIM!" in another broadcast), it is, by default-
-"hateful speech." Or, you know, hate speech. If I was to call you a "pinhead" right now, in the midst of our semi-private little tiff here, it is not hate speech, since I am not attempting to rally people to my cause and hate you.
Full disclosure, I would never want this sort of thing outlawed. that is a flagrant violation of the First Amendment. But I'm still going to call it what it is: hate speech, uttered by angry, mean spirited people who are not helping in any way.
The criminal justice system is supposed to protect innocent civilians. They pay for it with their taxes. But it ends up protecting the people who work for it and often not protecting the people. The bottom line is the criminals too often are not punished or rehabilitated and they come out of the system as career criminals ready to rape, rob, and or steal. Perhaps the government should show it can reform the criminal justice system before the people allow it to reform health care?
Perhaps you aren't paying attention, but the government's socialized police force isn't doing such a great job. There are millions of people in our criminal justice system. We have more people locked up per capita than any other country. So, our socialized criminal justice system isn't doing such a great job rehabilitating our criminals either. Perhaps the socialists can work to improve the criminal justice system before they take on health care?
Resources, land and people were exploited and destroyed under socialism during the USSR's 70 year regime. You're blaming Capitalism for what is a human problem. Greed, regulation, zero accountability--all are not unique to capitalism.
The same problems exist under socialism. A socialist medical system could very well destroy America's medical system entirely.
The caller on the Glenn Beck show is such an idiot. She obviously has never heard his show, since he has spoken against the bailout for the last 6 months!
Obama wants to destroy freedom in this country. Under his plan, it will be harder to start or even maintain a business. This will result in less jobs. The administration needs to be removed from office and arrested.
You know we can have him trialed for treason right now. It would not go through with any charges but it could be used as levrage once he starts his health care and anti gun plans. It is against the constitution for the government to own a company. But they now own 56% of ge.
Where was all of this concern when Bush was in office? The man was openly lying to the country and running into the ground so that Haliburton could make a fortune...He has blood all over his hands and these guys (beck, oreiley, hannity, limbaugh -- they're all clones) never made a peep....He could have raped and then eaten a baby on live tv and they'd have called us pussy liberals just pointing it out....
Since when do 2 wrongs make a right. Plenty of us hated theBush policies. Including Beck. sound principles should run the country , not the banks. that is what's happening under Obama.....it is a continuation of the past.
Wow, you run a "best of the day" list, thanks!! Everything on there was pin point accurate and true. Please keep it up, libertarians like us love stuff like this :)
Obama is a far left wing ideologue who is trying to impose socialism on America. How do you compromise on that? He has shut down the capitalist system and now there are so many layoffs the unemployment rate is hitting the stratosphere. So either Obama compromises and gets the capitalist system back in action or the country swings hard right and Obama becomes a figurehead.
Glen Beck is right on brother..keep up the good work while the unwise scoff, as the teachers of the law did to Jesus Christ, and to all his followers who speak the common sense truth. We don't owe them anything. Its up to me to decide charity, not the gov't. of any country!
yes msnbc does have some dumb people but nothig like republicans and fox network i like keith olberman just because he reconizes this crap and makes fun of it
Yes fox news has some dumb people but nothing like liberals and msnbc and the nbc network. I like glenn beck. Just because he recognizes this crap and makes fun of it.
You mean how he compares everything non capitalist-friendly to either Hitler & the Nazis, Communists, Socialists, or terrorists?
Get out of here and go get more talking points from O'Reilly, you ignorant fool. Maybe once you start thinking for yourself you can come up with an original insult.
As if Maureen Dowd's hate filled nonsense is any better than this.. At least Beck has a reason to scream.. All Ms. Dowd needs is to know that the person she's targeting is a conservative.. Such hipocracy on the far left.. As if Mediamatters counts anyway..
Just another man who's fed up with stupid people.. I don't blame him.. The woman is an idiot! Thank God for Glenn Beck.. This is the reason he's loved.. like Mediamatters isn't full of hate..!!??
Blit67...what Glenn Beck know about health care policy...and obama's proposed health care reform can be fit into the reservoir tip of a condom....Beck should stick with topics he is an expert at i.e racist/bigotry policy to keep all minorities down.
sorry if i have offended your daughter, but you got to admit a person that thinks global warming is a scam despite all the evidence can't possibly be sane.
I didn't imply anyone who doesn't believe as I believe must not be a real American. The problem is most voters vote on the basis of which candidate has the best smile. Obama was clearly much more attractive physically than McCain so he won the election. Now that the people are finding out Obama is mostly carrying out Bush's game plan, they are having second thoughts.
A recent study by Harvard University researchers found that the average out-of-pocket medical debt for those who filed for bankruptcy was $12,000.
The study also noted that 68 percent of those who filed for bankruptcy had health insurance. In addition, the study found that 50 percent of all bankruptcy filings were partly the result of medical expenses. Every 30 seconds in the United States someone files for bankruptcy in the aftermath of a serious health problem.
yeah i would probably get angry if a mentally retarded woman called me on my radio show and accused me of not worrying about the banks, which i covered on my show for weeks at a time.
that woman should be hung for sheer stupidity, glenns anger was understandable.
the only part that makes me feel a little better... is that the only people they're hurting is themselves because all that stress isn't good for the heart (as in heartattacks), although apparentally its good for the wallet
That reaction surprises me even by Beck's standards. "I'm gonna lose my mind today"? If he's stable(he's obviously not), I would love to see what Glenn Beck finally losing his mind looks like.
There should be a suicide watch put on Glenn Beck. He's obviously paranoid and variously deranged... he might attempt suicide... and so, he needs a suicide watch.
Not to do anything... not to interfere... just to watch. And watch. And watch.
You're projecting. I never cared for his show nor his opinions but I never thought he was completely insane.
I always figured the crying was just a bizarre ploy to make a point and the pretending to burn someone was in poor taste and theatrical but I could understand what he was trying to get at.
But having a yelling tantrum on the air? I think that cinches it yes and whatever shred of credibility he has was lost.
you were happy to have a blatant liar as pres for the last 8 yrs, a blatant liar as vp the last 8 yrs, a "news" channel full of blatant liars and believe the rhetoric of a dozen blatant liar radio hosts. How patriotic can you be.
Those of you all who aren't bigoted, jingoistic losers must be really enjoying the skyrocketing Obama unemployment rates and Obama's escalation of the Bush endless wars. Actually, the American people are getting angrier and angrier and in less than two years they are going to teach Obama and everyone else who isn't a bigoted, jingoistic loser a hard lesson.
About those skyrocketing unemployment rates(UR). Historical context time.
Reagan took office on 20Jan81 the UR was 7.4 in Feb '81, by Jun '81 it rose to 9.6, topped at 10.8 in Nov/Dec '81, and didn't get back down to 9.5 till almost 2 yrs later in Aug '83.
Obama came in with UR of 8.1 in Feb '09 and it's now at 9.5 in Jun '09.
After the UR reached 9.5 during Reaganomics it took 2 yrs to get back to 9.5.
Reagan isn't my idea of who Obama should be emulating. I prefer Bill Clinton. Reagan came in and set the tone by busting the Air Traffickers Union. Bill Clinton, on the other hand, focused like a laser on jobs creation. And for the working people, Bill Clinton's time in office was second to none. I refuse to be patient with an administration which isn't giving a Bill Clinton focus to jobs creation.
he's been raised by wolves and has been planted by aliens to destroy the good ol US of A. Its a grand scheme and only the most rational people (Beck, oreilly, limbaugh) are smart enough to see the truth. Its only a matter of time before the martians rule the earth, grab your torch and pitchfork you retards
Give the guy a break. He doesn't get sex or friends without paying for them, and he has to deal with being proven wrong all the time. He's a sad shell of a man.
Because America is not a Feudalist (slavery) state which is what these parasites want to turn this country into. No-holds-barred Capitalism as owned by the Limbaugh and Beck party (GOP) as opposed to Democratic Socialism as owned and operated by WE THE PEOPLE. The Republicans want to bankrupt America so badly and could give a god-damn less about our well being.
Today is very important. Because see, these idiots don't care about policies, facts, or anything like that.
What they really hate is seeing people of color in positions of power. For them, Obama was bad enough-now they've got Sotomayor. They aren't allowed to say it-but thats where the deep, deep hatred comes from.
These same kinds of idiots threw a huge fit during the civil rights era too, when the south was desegregated. They think America is a whites-only country.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Actually, when the Democrats tried to deny Clarence Thomas his Supreme Court seat, nobody complained they were denying a person of color a seat on the court, but they were. The Democrats hated to see this Black man in a position of power. Clarence Thomas grew up poor in the South under segregation. The racist white Democrats went so far as to investigate which videos he had checked out at the local video store and which books he had checked out at the library.

And now, you're sidestepping everything I point out and going back to the beginning. And deliberately ignoring what I'm saying. Yes, champ, that WOULD be hate speech if you went out and yelled like that-
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
but ur definition said i had to be a public figure.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
No. I. Didn't. I said I wasn't a public figure trying to defame you on a public stage if I called you a pinhead. I never said being a public figure was a prerequisite. You are parsing in a deliberate attempt to dodge the point.
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
well ur definition was so long and broad im just tryn to figure out why pinhead is considered hate speech. he didnt call her a pinhead to make people hate her.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
this vid takes it outa context and doesnt show everything. i am taking it in context. beck never threatened her life nor did he tell people to hate her. how is it hate speech. it doesnt fit ur definition. he didnt even call her pinhead to push an agenda he called her it because she didnt have her facts strait and thought he didnt care about the bailouts.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
i have the clip on my page its about 8 min long and he does say she is a moron. not because she doesnt have conservative views but because she thought he didnt care about bailouts. so it still doesn't fit ur description of hate speech. dude. pinhead is not hate speech. ur a real drama queen if you truly believe pinhead is hate speech in any context.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
-after all, all people fall on a spectrum of politics, not an easily-defined singularity point. I'm ultra-ultra Progressive on social issues, but somewhat moderate (at best, I'm a Woodrow Wilson/JFK-style "New Liberal") on economic issues, and downright hawkish on the military. As for the transcript, again (Jesus, AGAIN), I'm referring to the entire show. What did she call about? What was he talking about before? What is the overall point of his show? To claim that Liberals are Fascists.
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
He's calling her names (and generally freaking out), because she DARES to disagree with him and call him out on his blatant hypocrisy. He's calling her names, on a nationally-syndicated radio show, and implying she is an idiot. Hate. Speech. As defined way the hell back. And I can't help but notice your fixating on "pinhead" and ignoring all the others...
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
no sorry dude. pinhead is not hate speech. he calls her names because she accuses him of not caring about the bailouts and refers to him as "you people". making a false accusation is different from a disagreement . and it doesnt matter if its a radeo show as you already said you dont have to be a public figure so the show is irrelevant. sorry dude. it still doesnt meet ur definition. i keep reading UR definition and other opinions and it just doesnt fit for hate speech as defined by you.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
Buddy, I just explained, no less than three times, that it does. That he is calling her derogatory names ("pinhead" has very nasty origins) on a national stage, in order to specifically demean her, in an effort to cast her, and any like her, as intrinsically stupid and dangerous.
And again, why are you fixated on this one and ignoring all the others? You'll recall, your entire point to commenting on my two-month-old comment was to say that all of the examples I gave were not hate speech.
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
i focus on pinhead because if you think pinhead is hate speech you obviously dont know what hate speech is. i dont think anyone knows the origins a pinhead but today no its not derogatory. so sorry dude. not hate speech.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
Okay, friend, I'm becoming increasingly convinced you're just a griefer, because you don't bother to check anything.
"Microencephalitcs (people with genetically tiny heads) were first called pinheads due to their having very small heads. Part of this condition was that the person who suffered from it often acted in a "foolish" or "simple" manner due to the mental retardation that came with the disease. It was from this that the term pinhead for someone who was seen to be foolish came."
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
oay i dont think most people now that. you shouldnt act all high because you happen to know that. so as i said today its not as derogatory as it may have been 100 years aqo or whatever. do you really ecpect people to look up the origins of every stupid comment that is made or think of them as in todays standards. and by todays standards pinhead is not hateful. at lest beck was inconsiderate of her feelings. at most he was mean. but he was far from hate speech.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
High and mighty? This is the fourth time, by my count, that you made a broad, carte blanche and flat out wrong statement about something without bothering to check your facts on it. This is not a good trend. And are we seriously circling right back to the beginning again? I've already explained why it IS. By dictionary definition. I really could care less if you, personally, don't think it is. And since you continue to ignore the others, I take it you concede that they ARE hate speech?
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
dude. ur dictionary definition was so broad that any little insult or navigate comment could be twisted into hate speech. you also said you used the dictionary definition then elaborated with ur own words. all you got top do to find hate speech is use common sense. common sense should tell you pinhead or stupid lib is not hate speech. people say that stuff every day. i think you just dont like these guy. van jones said rep. are asshole but i doubt u would accuse him of hate speech.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
OHMYGOD. Do you always dodge half of what people say, or what? No, not every little insult could be twisted that way. You see, not every insult is uttered in a public forum heard by several million people. Also, a word like "asshole" has no meaning other than "I don't like you." It is not intrinsically hateful. Also, Van Jones (who is not my favorite person, to put it mildly: freaking 9-11 conspiracy whackjobs...) was not using hate speech in that context, since it is not directed at a-
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
-specific person or human group, but rather an organization, and has no meaning other than, "you meanies!" in that context. CONTEXT. For the love of God, CONTEXT! I elaborated with the freaking annotations of the dictionary definition! I didn't make it up. This entire conversation is a freaking ouroboros... I keep wanting to yell, "first base!"
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
so if i call someone a nigger its not hates speech unless i do it in public. but you did prove that stupid demarcates wasnt hate speech. thanks for that one.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
No, I didn't. I said "asshole" means nothing on its own. If, however, the CONTEXT causes it to be used with the specific intent to harm, then it is hateful. And no, that word is not hate speech in a casual context. It is if you said it to someone in the audience of a speech you're giving, though. We're talking about the literal term "hate speech" here. My best friend, a lesbian, referred to herself as a "glamor dyke" once. Obviously, she is not guilty of hate speech towards HERSELF.
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
what is i said nigger are smelly is that hate speech or is that being a bigot. what if i say is without intending to hurt anyone i just felt like saying it for no specific reason.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
AS. I. HAVE. ALREADY. SAID. SIX. FUCKING. TIMES. No, that is NOT hate speech, IN THAT CONTEXT. That is just you being an asshat of astonishing proportions.
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
so if i say all jews are assholes its not hate speech.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
What part of the word "context" do you fail to understand? No, saying that about Jews is not hate speech. It just makes YOU a bigot.
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
so when van jones said that he was being a bigot?
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
Do I seriously have to give you the dictionary definition of "bigot" now?
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
no i was just wondering. hahahaha!
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
...And you ARE a griefer, after all.
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
i dont know what a griefer is. i really just wanted to know why pinhead is hate speech. i still dont know why. though i appreciate all the time and effort you put in to explaining it to me. but just dont see how "pinhead" is hate speech. but oh well.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
ur definition covers ideology so by ur definition all republican are assholes would be hate speech because it targeted a specific group that holds that ideology.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
BZZT. Wrong. "Republican" is not an ideology. "Conservative" is.
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
i am familiar with who limbaugh is and ur obviously trying to convince me he is racist. maybe he is i dont care. so what is ur point limbaugh is racist. fine i dont care im not defending him. im still just saying there is no hate speech on this vid.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
so im not a poblic figure so if i go on the steps of the court house and start ranting about black people or jews it wouldn't be hate speech because im not a public figure. what if i was a public figure ranting about minoritys but wasnt pushing a cause. by ur definition its still not hate speech.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
-because your specific intent is to inflame and get people to hate the people you hate, public figure or no. Which I have already explained. Twice. It would be hate speec regardless of what you were pushing or who you were, because you're using a public forum. Which, again, I have already explained. And congratulations, you know who Limbaugh is. But you don't know who Jim Quinn is (despite his name being IN THE VIDEO WE'RE ON, and his comments being what I referenced in the first place!
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
but what if i was talken bad about them for no purpose other then to talk and not make anyone hate them. would it be hate speech then. not by ur definition.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
-Lyndon Johnson? Oh, that's right, a white Republican was in the White House. And now there's a scary black man. Surely, it's just a coincidence. And the whole birth certificate thing (which both Limbaugh and Quinn reference frequently), gee, that has nothing to do with the fact that he has dark skin and is named "Barack Hussein Obama." I'm sure if he was John Jefferson from Des Moines, Iowa, those same people would be challenging his birthplace. Riiiiiight. A duck is duck sometimes.
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
i dont listen to limbaugh and dont know who quinn is or why should i care who they reference. or what ur point is for that matter or why i should care since you use personal attacks during a debate.
hoodrichbadrich 2 years ago
-an alien, outside thing. In other words, this is a blatantly racist, and thus hateful phrase. "Pinhead" is a disparaging term that is harmless on its own, but when used in this context, in the midst of an angry rant, it is being used for one purpose: to further inflame the people listening. See, when the purpose of the words is to make people hate the target (see Quinn's partner Rose screeching at the top of her lungs, "I HATE HIM! I HATE HIM!" in another broadcast), it is, by default-
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
-"hateful speech." Or, you know, hate speech. If I was to call you a "pinhead" right now, in the midst of our semi-private little tiff here, it is not hate speech, since I am not attempting to rally people to my cause and hate you.
Full disclosure, I would never want this sort of thing outlawed. that is a flagrant violation of the First Amendment. But I'm still going to call it what it is: hate speech, uttered by angry, mean spirited people who are not helping in any way.
DarthFastidious 2 years ago
The criminal justice system is supposed to protect innocent civilians. They pay for it with their taxes. But it ends up protecting the people who work for it and often not protecting the people. The bottom line is the criminals too often are not punished or rehabilitated and they come out of the system as career criminals ready to rape, rob, and or steal. Perhaps the government should show it can reform the criminal justice system before the people allow it to reform health care?
electango 2 years ago
Perhaps you aren't paying attention, but the government's socialized police force isn't doing such a great job. There are millions of people in our criminal justice system. We have more people locked up per capita than any other country. So, our socialized criminal justice system isn't doing such a great job rehabilitating our criminals either. Perhaps the socialists can work to improve the criminal justice system before they take on health care?
electango 2 years ago
Resources, land and people were exploited and destroyed under socialism during the USSR's 70 year regime. You're blaming Capitalism for what is a human problem. Greed, regulation, zero accountability--all are not unique to capitalism.
The same problems exist under socialism. A socialist medical system could very well destroy America's medical system entirely.

Obama is a far left wing ideologue who is trying to impose socialism on America. How do you compromise on that? He has shut down the capitalist system and now there are so many layoffs the unemployment rate is hitting the stratosphere.

Give our current Gov't a chance..............
rickamabob13 2 years ago 5
Reagan isn't my idea of who Obama should be emulating. I prefer Bill Clinton. Reagan came in and set the tone by busting the Air Traffickers Union. Bill Clinton, on the other hand, focused like a laser on jobs creation. And for the working people, Bill Clinton's time in office was second to none. I refuse to be patient with an administration which isn't giving a Bill Clinton focus to jobs creation.
