  • I had the Kindle now..its superb..very pure screen just like a paper!...probably only tow points as down sides..it is bit slow specially when u browse internet or when you turn the next page..but for me that doesnt really matter ..the second is tghat the mps player aint got play list..you just put the songs and u play them continuesly..u can only stop pause forward...but its Ok..i can live with that..I must say..its got a Magic battery guys !...just stays forever ! thx

  • Thanks for the video. You helped me decide to buy the kindle 3.

I went to daiso to buy a case for it today and remembering you said it was an A5 size thats what I bought. However it is not A5 size. A5 is wayyyyy too big.

Im not sure what size it is exactly as I didnt have it with me. however FYI to everyone it is not A5.

It was only $1 and I can use it for something else so no worries. I couldnt find a sexy leatherette one though. Maybe next time!

  • @cheaplightning Oh see, now you are making me jealous. Because this means that you got the Kindle 3 and this review is only for the 2. The 2 fits perfectly in the A5 but I heard that the dimensions of the 3 were quite a bit smaller, without changing the actual screen size. Nice. It also means you can make comments and highlight on pdf's, also something that the 2 can't do, and which is currently giving me uncontrollable technolust.

  • @fatblueman DOH you are right.

Sorry. Yes I have the 3 and enjoy commenting on PDF's

Ok then, this is a warning to kindle 3 users. ITS NOT A5!

    hehe.

  • hi, thank for this vedio its really helpfull, but..does it have an SD card reader..or is it possible to connect it with ur PC to put ur own ebooks on it, and if so..is it there a usb cable supplied coz i havent seen that..

    thx alot ....

  • @gooofii No SD card reader, but I haven't found that to be a problem, because ebooks are generally small. There is a USB cable supplied and you can do everything via USB if you want to

  • @fatblueman ah ok as long as there is a way to connect to the computer that is fair enough.....cheers mate :)

  • I've had a Kindle for a week... love it. So far, for the most part I only downloaded classics (Count of Monte Cristo, Anna Karenina, [long books btw]) all FREE. It'll probably take me a year to read all the books I downloaded already, and they take up a fraction of space on the Kindle. I also use the music player, an awesome addition. the dictionary/wikipedia/highlighting/notes features are great! I bought this to read books, and for that, it is an excellent product.

  • Cool review. I ordered one and can't wait to get it. I can't order a case though because I live in Australia? Does anyone know where I can get a case or a skin in Australia.

  • saying that.......i want one

  • this is just another useless product that we dont need...but the greedy men want to take our money.....you dont need it.....dont buy it

  • i completely disagree. just think about all the paper you will save from buying e-books. also the added convenience of having an entire book store at your fingertips. i think this your comment vinilla is completely bogus.

  • i really dont give a shit what you think

  • Mine arrived this morning. I can copy PDFs onto it no problem over USB, read the PDFs without any conversion, but I can't zoom. Can you zoom in on converted PDFs?

8:56 Are you sure about the 200 yen roaming surcharge for wirelessly downloaded books? I tried a wireless download, Paper Towns, just to see if it works, and Amazon's view your digital orders isn't showing any sort of roaming surcharge.

  • @ElevenColors Yeah, the pdf thing happened in a software update a couple weeks ago. But kind of useless though, as with no zoom I can hardly read them. I am still converting them to make them useful. As for the 200 yen charge, keep me updated on that. If they have dropped it, that would be a very good thing. I had it on my bill twice.

  • @fatblueman Where'd you see it on your bill? Was it listed with the book under Completed Digital Orders?

  • @ElevenColors Yeah, listed there. Nothing on yours hey?

  • ever tried to photocopy from it?

  • @claytonian No. But that;s an interesting thought. I will now...

  • let me know how it goes; thinking about alternatives to carrying my worksheets around for teaching English

  • But if they had color the battery life would be reduced sooooo much.

  • I think it's difficult to watch this because there are so many "ehhh" ...."ummm"s

Please, for any type of review, write a script.

  • Nice painting back there lol

  • interesting review. A4 is standard paper size, like US Letter. Your Kindle looks more like B5 size. Ahh, the useless things we learn as ALTs. :)

  • Did I say A4? That should have been A5, which I think is an A4 folded in half. You buy the A5 one at DAISO the fit is perfect. The B5 one is the same price, and also works, with a bit more room for other stuff.

  • I dont really mind having no backlight. That drains your battery, makes it bulkier, and its harder on your eyes. The whole point of the kindle isnt to put all your books on some tablet with some LCD screen. I dont read on my computer because of that.

  • Yeah, I thought it was a negative at first, but I am quickly getting used to it though. Might be nice to have as an option that you can flick on though.

  • Great info. I've been tinkering with getting a Kindle so it's good to hear about the international edition.

How far along in your studies are you?

I really should get back onto my MA program. I need motivation.

Apple is getting ready to debut their tablet computer within the next few months, so I guess I'll wait and see.

  • What about American Proxies? You can use a Proxy to trick Amazon into thinking you're in America. (The British do it all the time when they wanna watch youtube videos with copyright music and the Chinese do it too when their Government bans something)

I also heard the book "1984" was removed from the Amazon Store, so the only was to get "1984" on your kindle is to download it illegally. (or OCR the real book, but I heard that's expensive)

  • how do i do that because ther are things i want t owatch and i cant

    love that book 1984

  • There is a Bay for Pirates and a Miniature sized Nova. ;)

  • or so that is what you mean

and i know of both of them but th bay i cant getinto for some reason and the other i use all the time :) i thought you meant something like changing the IP or something

loved how you put it :D

  • 1984 is still in the Kindle store. And I purchased it over a year ago and it's still in my inventory available to be downloaded again. All you had to do is search "1984" in the Kindle store on Amazon to figure this out.

  • Oh, so they fixed those Copyright issues? I heard it was pulled from the store because Somebody claimed copyright on the book and that turned into a real mess.

  • Yeah, not sure about that. But the first time I heard that it had been removed I checked and it was still available. So it must have been a quick issue if at all.

  • I have tried the proxies but have never been able to get them to work. Is there a "for dummies" tutorial somewhere?

The 1984 thing was a big screw-up by Amazon that scared everyone off for a while. But they apparently rectified the situation

  • Interesting. The name Kindle reminds me of a German beer: Berliner Kindl

  • Well now that I have tried one, I think I need to try the other :-)

  • looks like amazon had battery-life as one of the top priorities when it comes to kindle, hence the buttons rather than touch screen, slower internet, no back light, etc

  • Yes it would seem so, and they definitely have succeeded on that point. But it goes down a lot faster if you use the music listening or audio features

  • Good review John. I've been thinking about picking one of those up. i suppose I still have some thinking to do.

  • Honestly, you might hold off a little and see which way the Sony Reader and Barnes and Noble readers go. And good interview with Kat McDowell. How'd you land that? She doesn't answer any message I send.

  • She contacted me when she was coming down here. I met her for coffee and then went to her show. I think she is only now starting to get more into You Tub....as far as the interaction side goes. She was a cool lady to meet!

  • That was a great review! I was thinking about buying one but then it got put on the back burner and life just went on. Maybe for X-mas.

  • Yeah, around Christmas a bunch of other readers will be coming so there will be lots of options.

  • I need this. Thanks for reviewing!

  • Wow, you're fast. I didn't even think this was live yet.

  • Yeah I know! I was the first viewer. I just happened to refresh my YT subscriptions page at the same time the video was uploaded I guess. I saw your video without even a thumbnail and clicked on it. ^^
