my dad told me, when he was young, he have to work for quite nothing, just some euros ( dmark in this time ) sometimes he dont have much food, same my mother. but what did they do ? screaming about other countrys ? NO they just working for that, they get it and i think most of germans did that and now. were not working longer just for us, were working for all u guys that u guys have more then our parents have. And how long u have to work the last years before the krisi come ? i often had to work 10 or 12 hours, without the time i use for the way to my work. and its not just monday to friday. My boss tell me we have to work more on saturday 4-6 hours. i dont even have time to eat something, getting ill but i have to work cos i could lose him if i dont come.

@StellandBlood It is not all about working time. It is about efficiency. Average value creation per work hour in germany is 10 times higher than in greece, patents per million citizens and year is even a hundred times higher. That should give you some idea of what we are talking about.

@sbug65 well seen as french govt spending is around 58% of gdp its little wonder the economy is growing, the UK economy where govt spending is around 45% of gdp is much more dependant on organic growth rather than fuelled by govt spending. the german economy is amazing at times but mostly when everyone else is doing bad, when the good times roll in germany stagnates as it has done for the last 20 years, a great basis but not the best.

In the USA if there is recession in Texas and a boom in New York and California people in New York and California have to bail out Texas because it is one country with one monetary system. Germans should spend more money fewer Germans have credit cards, borrow money, take out mortgages etc. than in other comparable countries. If they did that they would help other European countries so they can sell more to the Germans. I suppose it is to do with the Weimar Republic experience that makes Germans so overly cautious but perhaps its best to put the past behind now.

They still get their unemployment benefit + 120 Euro from the 1 Euro job. So they t´still have something between 800 and 1000 euros monthly depending on the amount of their rent and extras. In germany no one gets lost in poverty in comparison to the rest of the world.

The label 1 Euro job is misleading. In fact they get at least 750 Euros per month + 120 for the 1 Euro job including extras.

@StellandBlood It is not all about working time. It is about efficiency. Average value creation per work hour in germany is 10 times higher than in greece, patents per million citizens and year is even a hundred times higher. That should give you some idea of what we are talking about.

The US/NATO was pressuring Germany to support Turkey (which had massive unemployment rate) and was pushing for the concept of "guestworkers". The German government was very sceptical at first, but then accepted the idea...so it is really absurd to call it "government greed"
Only 25% of all immigrants are turks, there are some problems, but grosso modo it works. I think our restrictive Austrian immigration policy is better, but when UK/US critisize it, it is absurd...look at East-London...

@AustrianAtheist What about East-London, yeah, it is quite a shit hole... but that's cos it's clustered. Some areas in East London are all Muslim, all Asian, all black, all white - very few places are 'mixed'... which is why there is lots of crime there. But, it's no coincidence that all the 'nice' areas are majority-white places.
London 2012 will restore some dignity back to East London and really sort it out - that will probably be the greatest legacy, sorting out East London!

In the USA if there is recession in Texas and a boom in New York and California people in New York and California have to bail out Texas because it is one country with one monetary system. The EU isn't a country but has a unified monetary system but people in rich parts of EU are not prepared to help out poor parts of the EU. There is monetary union without full political union. Time for rich Germans and North Europeans to bail out poor parts of EU!

It is too early to demand getting rid of Greece.
I trust in the ability of the Greek people to learn and to change.
We got our chance after WWII. The Greek are getting theirs now.
We refuse to bail them out completely, because they have to do reforms. Like we had to do it.
If we would bail them out completely, they would continue in the same manner until the new money would be burned, too.
So we give them the chance...this ONE chance...to do reforms.
Maybe they´ll take this chance.

Germans should spend more money fewer Germans have credit cards, borrow money, take out mortgages etc. than in other comparable countries. If they did that they would help other European countries so they can sell more to the Germans. I suppose it is to do with the Weimar Republic experience that makes Germans so overly cautious but perhaps its best to put the past behind now.

IMO our country is doing now, what´s the best: Now where we have a boom and earn much money (at least our state) we should reduce our huge pile of state depts. If we don´t do that NOW, we won´t be able to to pay our debts ever again.

Others expect us (especially in the last time) to pay for them. If we don´t tidy up our own debts from the last years....who will do it for us?

We ARE already the biggest importer of goods from our neighbor countries. That is little known to many ordinary people outside of Germany. At least that is my impression, if I´m reading international articles about our boom.
Our own boom is already influencing our neighbor countries in a positive way.
All those sour grapes from some less successful countries (especially in the reader comments sections) are claiming, that Germany wouldn´t share it´s new success. That´s wrong.

Germanys unemployment number have almost doublet.
Theyre forcing people to work for 1, - euro.
And in some instances for no money at all.
Basically they perform the same job as a regular employee, but for next to nothing.
They also send them for reeducation, training them for jobs that do not exist or no longer exist. Basically the state forces the unemployed to work without pay.
Several million of them and they are not on the unemployment statistic.
Thats how they did it.

And re-education DOES work, my brother found a new job thanks the Amt. Besides of that, you should inform yourself about the US unemploymant statistic...

@cartmanslunchbox Wrong. These 1 Euro jobs are for unemployed people who need to get back into the working process and it's not binding. They still get their unemployment benefit + 120 Euro from the 1 Euro job. So they t´still have something between 800 and 1000 euros monthly depending on the amount of their rent and extras. In germany no one gets lost in poverty in comparison to the rest of the world.

Wrong, these people are unable to get jobs.
If the employer needs them (has jobs to offer) he should pay them a wage.
Everything else is slave labor.
Their meager unemployment (much less then you state) they get is paid by the tax payers.
Why should the taxpayers pay the wage for the company?
So they can have cheep or unpaid labor.

@cartmanslunchbox I'm from germany and I know the facts. Everything I wrote is provable true. Those 1 Euro jobs are mostly in public institutions, nursing homes and for other public interests jobs. It's fixed by law that a 1 Euro job shouldn't take away or replace a fully paid job.
The label 1 Euro job is misleading. In fact they get at least 750 Euros per month + 120 for the 1 Euro job including extras.

Good idea. Because many nations are feeling the pain of living beyond their means germans are to blame for being efficient and producing too much. Germany should penalise germans for buying german goods and offer incentives to buy greek product such as wine, baskets and olives. Germans could import donkey's from greece instead of purchasing german made BMWs and VWs for transport. Lets bring those evil germans down to the lowest common denominator.
