This is cool but it's not unlike trying to make a bowguns shoot arrows more accurately when we have guns. I use a Grand Seiko Springdrive which is much more accurate and combines traditional watchmaking with newer technology.
I'm 15 and this just fascinates me. One time I wanted to be a guitar player, then a locksmith but those were just passing interests. Machines have never been just a passing interest for me. I've loved machines for as long as I can remember and I'll always love them. Watchmaking looks like the absolute perfect profession for me. It's like if someone hung the most delicious steak in the world right in front of your face for all of your life... You'd have to be a complete asshole not to take it!
ishouldplayzelda - first drop the bad language, I dont understand the steak thing, but from what I can tell, the watchmaking profession requires a lot of discipline, a sound mind and focused patience. I was like great! Kid found something that is passionate about then you lost me with your asshole word and steak hunting. Fix up.
i meant that watchmaking is like the steak. i'm interested in machines and watchmaking is hugely based around machines so it's like the perfect job for me has been staring me in the face for as long as i could think. if you lost me at "asshole" then it's not like you missed out on much, it's only like... 4 more words after that.
@wendileona Yer making me hungry. I too have a fasination for mechanal watches. I have over 800 watches I bought on ebay and still buying. i wish I could work on them. i might try one of these days. Go for it!!
@ishouldplayzelda hey, we should chill sometime haha. I'm fifteen as well and at one point was interested in locksmything, but I am absolutely set on watchmaking. People all over my school are coming to me with their sentimental time pieces and every dime i make I'm pouring into buying every tool possible. I plan on going to North Seattle School of Horology, although I live in California.
@ishouldplayzelda im 16 and the exact same thing goes for me.. i just took apart 2 watches and the insides amaze me :P i wish i knew how to make a full watch from scratch...
Hello, ishouldplayzelda, it sounds as though you have found your passion if you like this video. Did you know that the best watchmaking school in the US is in Miami, and is also FREE to attend, provided you are well suited for the profession and can pass their admission exam? If you want to check out what I mean, please just Google-search the Nicolas G. Hayek Watchmaking School in Miami. Very good luck to you and I pray your are able to be successful in your chosen profession. :)
in other words you like $5000+. These watches cost $100,000+. I saw one on the internet for $690,000. I think its because all of their watches are "inventions"- never been done before
This summer i am going to Gem City College and taking watch making and repair and then after that i'm taking jewelry. just wondering is there a high demand in this field and also can a person make good money on it. i want to do this because it interests me and i love doing it.
theres good money in it and there isnt. It depends on how skillful you are. Like these watches, they run in the six figures range. Best of luck to you.
if it would be 3-4 feet large it would be not so miracolous.... but in this size.... i just wondering if ever anyone will wear it... probably the next owner just will watch it day and day long...
Is this watchc really worth the money? I don't think so... Too expensive! But the mechanical components are really fascinating

I rather buy a Patek Philippe because these watches are not even worth the price.
wung97 6 months ago
@wung97 You want a Patek because you heard it on some R&B song. #Fail
Bolerophon 2 months ago
@Bolerophon Actually I knew Patek Philippe when I held one at Mohegan Sun. What R&B song are you talking about?

I would've loved to be a watchmaker. Sadly, I have financial responsibilities that will tie me down at my job...forever. It's such a beautiful art!
