From what I've learned, Adlai Stevenson was a good man. But the Democrats were stupid to run him again, in 56, after he'd been creamed in 52. Also, Stevenson wanted the nomination AGAIN, in 1960. I guess he never understood that the American public just didn't want him as their leader.
You're right, unfortunately. Too many people vote for the candidate who is a charismatic speaker, and makes them feel good, instead of how he plans to deal with the pressing issues of the election.
Concerning 2008, it was depressing. The GOP is filled with bad and good people. The DOPE party is filled with nothing but bad people. And the bad people were trying to become president.
History repeats itself over and over. Whether we like it or not, power will come back to the GOP in 2010. It happens every time the DOPE party tries to nationalize our healthcare.
@ftsjr Nobody could have beat Ike in '56. The American people don't want someone who is better than they for a leader; that ended with the election of 1828. Although we were lucky a few times and did manage to elect superior people, it's been mostly downhill since 1828; indeed, we are no longer a recognizable Republic, rather an increasingly tyrannical police state dependent on Big Brother.
I have to admit, I don't like the candidate, but I love the ad.

People don't want a good man. They want someone who speaks well.
