Just had lemon with warm water and it started burning in my stomach and i began feeling weak and weird. And this has happened with various acid foods etc... Could this be from an ulcer?

Recently I have started to have severe hunger pains 3-4 hours after eating. Upon research I found that I may have a peptic ulcer. My other symptoms include abdominal bloating and excessive belching which have lasted at least 6 months. Could this be an ulcer? I had a barium swallow which apparently showed nothing and a blood test which did not reveal H-pylori. This pain is so debilitating, I feel so nauseous and anxious because of these symptoms!

@AussieGossie Your symptoms sound exactly like my symptoms. I would suggest that you get a gastroscopy to see if you do have an ulcer.

@NZStarshine Thanks for the advice. It has been so stressful lately with exams and planning to see my family interstate. I've had to cancel my flight because of how unpredictable my symptoms are. I feel incredibly hungry then I try to eat and feel bloated almost immediately and start to belch loudly. It's like when the hunger hits me, my stomach gnaws away on the inside forcing me to keep swallowing my saliva.

Thirdly - No one should be on Prilosec, Nexium, Pepcid, Protonix and so on for more than 14 weeks otherwise their cellular body will begin to break down. @hariohmmpt If it's caused by h.pylori infection then yes, there are also NSAID drugs and others which can either increase acid concentration and or volume or through various mechanisms cause the mucosal layers to function abnormally or to weaken, and crohn's disease, which can affect anywhere between your mouth and anus. Naturopathic medicine can range from evidence based application of natural remedies to little more than pseudoscience like homeopathy. Research before accepting their word!

What is happening is the mucus lining has been eroded exposing your ulcer to the contents of your stomach causing pain, when you eat you gain relief but your stomach produces more acid and after the food passes through the stomach your ulcer is exposed to the high levels of acid. ok to ALL of you who have ulcers, EAT RIGHT! my dumbass was in jail and ate some hot beans and rice, and i ended up having severe UPPER BODY pain ( not just stomach, BUT YOUR WHOLE BODY WAIST UP). Anyways i now have a 7 inch line going up my belly because the ulcer went mad on me and ate a fuckin hole thru my stomach. So i had to have surgery, doctor told me 'Either surgery or die". My PO found out what happened and released me from custody, im a free man once again but at a painfull cost...

I'm dealing with an ulcer right now. I get severe pain below the sternum and a feeling of being full even though I can't eat much.

If you are getting very sharp pain around the sternum, liver or gall bladder you need to get checked for stones before you try to cure an ulcer you might not have.

Another sign can be pain in your back near the sholder blade. Ulcers are serious but you need to get checked for even more serious things first with an ultrasound.

Have you been cured yet and what treatment did they give you. I describe mine as a bad dull ache in the area of the stomach and some throbbing pains in the top half (mostly) of my back. I have had these pains more and more frequently over the last few years and about six times this year. I went to the doc last time and he said I had a gastric bug, gave me tablets which cured it in two days and had to cut out certain foods. Now it's back again after three weeks and I will have to go back to him.

I limited the foods that aggravated it and took the medicine my doctor recommended. There is no easy way to get rid of them because it wasnt easy to get it in the first place. No alcohol for a few months and no spicy foods until it heals is the way I went and now Im as good as new. Its really important to check the foods your are eating are not too acidic. After the medication was finished and also took something for a few months to counter act normal reflux and that worked a treat.

Thanks. When I google gastric bug every hit comes up with stomach ulcer, I don't know if my doc is telling me the full story here, but gave me omeprazole. Last time he told me to keep the food simple, eat toast or soup but no dairy, so I did though I could not eat much without being full. I gave up on pickles and tomato sauce last time, but yesterday mistakenly had some tom sauce and boy, regretted it after, was in agony for the rest of the evening, drunk water regularly but didn't seem to help.
