00:21 - 00:23 hahahahahahaha. I also thaught it was funny how you put subliminal message type things for us to watch your other reviews. And the "Shilo bowuhuhhuh...is dreemy!" hahahahahah
Optimus would tell you that this movie was for the greater good that only some could see but not all. Sometimes there's a greater agenda than our own. We'll get to see what we want in 2 and 3 and possibly a whole entire series... but the first one was not FOR us the fans... the first one HAD to be for the non-fans to draw them in.
Slip: I disagree. Look at Spider-Man 1 - it followed the comics VERY closely. It was for fans, and yet it was smartly written & commercial. Bay just has no ability to pull off a movie w/intelligence. Transformers was a LOT of fun. But it was stupid. Characters act out of character for plot convenience, storylines are incomplete, the tone is uneven. Yet, I look forward to the next one. -Kp
Exactly. The original TF show wasn't made for the fans since there were no fans to speak of, and look how successful THAT was. :P There's a reason the fans like a property. Why shouldn't people who are brand new to it?
I am a G1 Purist as far as TransFormers goes, but I can artistically see what was supposed to be going on with this film. I THINK we did a great job of getting the general world's attention and heads turned our way.. NOW the 2nd and 3rd installments will probably make the TRUE FANS much happier when they arrive, because the HARD work is done, getting all of the world to fall in love with TransFormers.
Heh. Well, tiny, I felt Fantastic Four 2 better accomplished what it was trying to accomplish than Transformers. FF2 was a light, comedic, superhero family film. Transformers starts that way then its characters, and their stories, get lost amidst the fighting robots. -Kp
I actually disagree wit the comparisons u made to the other movies u mentioned. Hellraiser? Just because of the cube/box.....uh, no. Transformers is more closer to Steven Spielberg classics like Close Encounters of The 3rd Kind, E.T., Jurassic Park. And James Cameron classics like The Terminator and T2: Judgement Day. Even a lil bit of The Matrix. These are the main inspirations I feel from Transformers.
Planit ur very vague witcha ya answers. I don't know why u choice to do what ya did, but it wasn't cool at all. Point I was tryin to make, was all of the films I mentioned from Spielberg and Cameron(which I'm all fans of), may have inspired the LIVE-ACTION CINEMATIC PRESENTATION of the "Transformers"....AND THAT'S ALL. But u decided to be condescending towards me.
Hey, Wu, see my comment on the Die Hard page. And, again, I'm sorry you felt I was being condescending. I consider you a good online bud and was just pokin' fun. I totally respect your opinions...but, you know, I'm a comedian, so I WILL make fun from time to time (like you do to me). Hope we're Fonzie! -Kp
"displaced emotions, people struggling in themselves"....Transformers doesn't need to approach that. Cuz we're dealin wit human characters who are witnessin creatures they don't understand invadin Earth. And robot characters that are have a conflict wit themselves and human beings just happened to be in the way. I think that's enough on the plate of this movie. Yet the theme that's borrowed is the alien invasion situations in both E.T. and Close Encounters.
Wu, but the characters AREN'T just witnesses. That's why the 1st hour is about THEM. The robots' conflict is just a big fight - there's no emotional conflict there, save for Bumble Bee's connection to Sam. I still enjoyed it. And thought the action was FAR superior to (& more "realistic" than) Die Hard 4 -Kp
Sam's relationship wit Bumblebee, Elliot and E.T. When Bumblebee got seized by the government, E.T. being kidnapped by the government. Transformers not only deals wit Good Machines Vs. Bad Machines, it deals wit the classic theme of......Man Vs. Machine........Terminator and T2.
Wu, it's funny you keep mentioning T2, b/c -- get this -- I actually felt Die Hard 4 was MORE like a Terminator movie than a Die Hard film. McClane was like an unstoppable machine who couldn't be felled by fire, cannon, or falling buildings -- he just kept comin'! -Kp
I know, I read that when u told somebody that on that page. True he did seem that way, he was also kinda like on "Die-Hard With A Vengeance".....I mean....WHEN IS HE NOT LIKE THAT?? I just saw him as an iconic figure who dies very f**kin hard....pun intended.
Just saw it, loved it. Just didn't think that Bonecrusher and Starscream got much (any) screentime, and that the idiot Bumblebee got it all. As for the review, that was short. Other than the quick length, it was funny.
Spart, thanks man! I tried to keep this one brief b/c a pet peeve of mine (and MAD TV does this and The Ben Stiller Show did this back in the day) is when commercial parodies go one FAR longer than actual commercials. I mean, it's no longer funny then, ya know? I haven't checked out your channel lately...if you post new stuff, PLEASE let me know. (I suck. Sorry.) -Kp
They should definitely have a Cliffs Notes version of this movie, with all the human parts cut out. I would love to see this in an IMAX theater as it has some of the most effective and powerful use of sound, especially surround sound effects I've ever seen and several scenes that would be mind blowing on a huge IMAX screen.
Silver, I couldn't agree more. Another thing this movie has over Die Hard 4 -- aside from the far more convincing effects -- is that when cars and tanks crash and explode, you FEEL their weight. Through sound, and better visuals, they really made you feel every impact in this film. It was impressive. -Kp
The movie was great, some people don't seem to understand that, just cuz the Decepticons didn't really show personality in this, doesn't mean it's non-existent. That's why this is gonna be a trilogy. But, in the first chapter their presented as strictly killin machines 4 a reason.....so they can be taken seriously from the viewers perspective. TF2 will most likely explore the personalities, and the riffs between Megatron and Starscream (in true G1 fashion).
Wu, if I've said once, I've said it at least once: don't judge a movie based on comics, possible sequels, interviews or commentary. Judge based upon what's on the screen. If what you see works, so be it. Now go on with your bad self. -Kp
Hey, I'm witcha man!! But, it's other "critics" who are passin judgement. Somebody actually said the Decepticons lost thier personalities, and my point is maybe the filmmakers didn't want to explore that aspect yet. Due to them wantin the Decepticons to appear more sinister rather than humorous bad guys (like in the original series). I'm just sayin......these elements can be explored in TF2. Ya feel me Planit?
I saw it a few hours ago and........I F**KIN LOVED IT!! Awesome sh**!!! Lived up to the hype!! Made me feel like a kid again!! Michael Bay did a great job!!! Best movie of the year!!! 4 STARS!! 4 STARS!! F*** ALL NEY SAYERS....IT WAS AWESOME!!!
I was a tad disappointed by your last couple of reviews but this one is great. :) Keep it up. Or I'll have to kill you. ... Just kidding. Hehehe. No I'm not.
Rel, I canNOT believe you didn't dig my Mac/PC review of Die Hard. Not only did that take me almost 12 hours to freakin' edit, but it's EXACTLY like a Mac/PC commercial AND I WROTE THE MUSIC IN IT TOO (and i don't even write music!!). A genius is never appreciated in his own time.
Perhaps you SHOULD kill me.
Or get me a film editor.
And pint of mint ice cream...just 'cause I'm in the mood for that.
Why do so many people interpret those accursed 25 minutes (which felt like an hour at least) to be pure comedic gold? <:S
This was awesome. :) 5*
