Next time please read the video description. I can't believe I'm still explaining this 2.5 years later. I had jaw surgery and had my mouth unwired 2 days before this concert. There was more vibrato than usual because (1) I was in excruciating pain and (2) It was my last vocal concert, so I was emotional. I practiced the song with the pianist once. She is great, we just didn't have enough practice time.

I know Toshi did not use this vibrato. I'm not Toshi, I was in a program for musical theatre and opera, so I adapted the song to that style. I'm not defending myself anymore. I had to have surgery. I sang this song because I had the music, and it was something other than the show tunes that I sang at the spring concert in previous years.

I'm sure there is an accent. I've never taken any Japanese language classes, and my wiring/swelling prevented caused me to speak English differently than I normally do. But, accents really are unavoidable unless the language is learned at a young age. I've never heard anyone bash a Japanese person for speaking English with an accent. =)

No, I don't speak any Japanese really (as in, I've never had a class). I copied all of my pronounciation from Toshi. Also, my speech was greatly affected by the fact that I could not use my mouth properly from my surgery. I recently sang a song in Japan in Japanese and I had no problems.
