you are totally correct. shel preformed it first. his version is on shel silverstein his words mis music his friends a great album. i had to do a report on him for school. he fucking ROCKS!!!!!! that album has a lot of his music on it.
My parents went and saw them at Knott's Berry Farm in SoCal back in 1981 a few months before I was born, she gave me the pics when I moved east, still got them boxed up.
