In fear every day, every evening, He calls her aloud from above, Carefully watched for a reason, Painstaking devotion and love, Surrendered to self preservation, From others who care for themselves. A blindness that touches perfection, But hurts just like anything else. Isolation, isolation, isolation. Mother I tried please believe me, I'm doing the best that I can. I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through, I'm ashamed of the person I am. Isolation, isolation, isolation.

That's so true---this is the first version of this song I heard, and I've always liked better than the studio version,period---it has more of an edginess about it. Plus it reminds me of all the early '80's synth music I was into as a child.
I'm watching CONTROL right now.The guy playing Ian Curtis looks just like him...depressingly sad movie.Ian was so talented to be that depressed. Its a shame.
ahhh unknown pleasures and Closer are some of the best albums ive ever heard. Closer was like a revalation to me, an awakening. After the beatles their my second favorite band.
joy division had such an origional sound and are still one of the best and most origional groups ever...atleast in my book and they are responsible for sooooo much good music in the 80s such as the sound of such groups as new order who were origionally joy division before ian curtis died, and also groups like duran duran...joy division were the very begginings of the whole sound of new wave and synth pop music! Love joy division, RIP IAN!
i love this song and this band i think that they are trully one of the best bands to ever exist with such a rich and full sound nad lyrics that you can really sympathise with i never tire of them
gracias Jose. This is better than the recorded song. JD seems to sound better live than in records. Good sign! Oh what memories.

The live version may have had more kick (thanks to Mr Morris and his pounding syndrums) but I feel the studio version seems more real and emotional.
