  • and then humanity discovers a whole new way to have an epileptic seizure..

  • what a useless invention

  • @artifactingreality You will be sorry that you said this. Think. Not affected by radio jamming signals, apparently not affected by other light presence because they are not doing this in total darkness, can communicate over reflections, ray can be indirect and scattered. Then only way to interfere it is to physically block the ray right in front of the receiver. MILITARY?

  • @Ronbtw yeah you're right. I can't even remember why I said that now. Must have been having a funny 5 minutes.

  • @Ronbtw Ya baby Ya! Think what you just said! WiFi over a whole town threw street lights! And it doesn't irradiate your brain! Cell Phone replacement! Photon Phone!

  • im confused..

what the hell does it do!?

  • there isnt enough sensory overload in japan that they need to have more information sent to then through led lighting?

  • @jayrellz lol

  • windows 7 in Japanese computers?

    some-thing's wrong

  • What's the advantage vs. invisible light? Say infra red or other radio waves?

  • @mate2000 if you use infrared or other waves to transmit data you would need to install a completely separate system. This system makes dual use of regular indoor lighting to transmit data, so if it is used in the future in conjunction with HD-PLC, it would remove the need for any indoor ethernet or wireless setup. It can also be used in situations where radio frequencies don't propagate well, such as underwater.

  • @Diginfonews What if the situation was to transmit data from Earth to Space?

  • @jayrellz tehe ;)

  • @jayrellz Theres absolutely no evidence that we're getting harmed now, though many people remain convinced, contrary to all available evidence.

PS. Visible light is a form of radiation as well.

  • Communication through light occurs every time you press a button on your tv remote. The only reason visible light is not used is to not annoy you, however you can see the light from a remote quite clearly when viewed with a webcam. Not sure what the innovations here are.

  • @rbairos1 13km range, 160 mps speed?

  • @jayrellz What are you basing this prediction on? Psychic ability ;)

  • Neat and very discreet. It'll be 15 or 20 more years before LEDs fully replace fluorescent lighting commercially, if ever, and this project will likely be forgotten or replaced by something better by then.

  • Soooo....sometime in the future I could find myself saying, "Hey! A light bulb just hacked my computer!"

  • sooooo cool

  • underwater! yeah!!!

  • so if i unplug my laptop i can go on the net by switching on big light ... winner !!!

  • omg this is soooooooooo awesome

man im doing electrical engineering for sure now

  • this is amazing! the implications are just to much for me to comprehend.

  • FUCKING GENIUSES

  • This is a big step into the future of communications. beating world records in data transmission. WOWzers.

  • just think about the implementations for this technology...but what is it , micro-flickering?

  • thank you diginfo

  • Everything on Diginfo is pure Japanese OWNAGE!

  • God bless Japanese people... Lol :D

    P.S. PlayStation RULES

  • @GranKnight87 Agree the first one but not the second one, XBOX360 RULES! KINECT IS COMING!

  • @lht002004 R u kidding yourself?? Ok im in no way a fangirl or wanna start a debate. But the kinect sucks I tried it. It's just doing what Sony and Nintendo already did. Bunch of low-rate family games with a camera. Sorry nothing new with. It's old tech.

  • @GranKnight87 you mean nintendo right!
