My husband and I have watched Breeze Country and the Choice Affair Dances for almost ten years on PGC TV. Love it obviously, but would love your help in getting a message to Breeze. Please tell him to put the dang mike down! We don't want to hear him constantly saying "YEAAH" or singing though out the songs. I'm sure he thinks he was/is the cats meow and can sing, but get a band already....Man does he just love hearing himself. The one show before fathers day was just too much.

All of the people here have been dancing for years and still dance 2, 3,& 4 times a week. You just need to get out on the dance floor more often. It's a excellent way to stay young and fit.

@swintersmith Sorry I'm just now seeing this. We go to the Eclipse on Bladensburg Rd (Fridays) and the Elks Lodge in Camp Springs (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Sundays). There is also dancing at the VFW on Suitland Rd on Tuesdays and Sundays...

I LOOVED that the patrons were older when I was in DC (although it took them a quick minute to welcome me). Little did they know at first that I am WAAAAY better with maturity than I am with nitwits my age & younger. These folks actually appreciate & purely enjoy the art of music & dancing.

Now I'm in the Windy City area where they're all cliquish and EVERYthing's a (bogus) contest. I've mastered steppin' here too, but as-is, it will NEVER match the art & atmosphere of handdancing!! NEVAH!!!!!

I had been wondering how DC Hand Dancing compared to other swing related dances. I'm glad you put this up, & I hope to see more posted! I keep looking for KC Step dancers in our area, but I've yet to track them down. I'd like to see how the styles compare to each other since I've heard they're similar. I hope to be half as energetic at "the average age of 55" as these folks. :)

The black roots... Dancing to blues. I just love the energy to this partner dance style and it does not look like it will take a month of Sundays to learn. It has a simple back home jook joint feel. Big-Ups to my fellow baby boomers.
