  • Half past four - usually the time clifftop campers start crackin' open the PBR

  • what is the name of this tune?

  • This video is great! And it's a really good illustration of some of the conditions we had there - heat as well constant wet ground (not too good for the bottoms of dancing shoes).

Great flatfootin' - both of y'all!

  • @fltftdncr Like my surgical booties? they didn't last very long, however, in the mud

  • @moonshineV You know what - I didn't even notice that's what they were in the video. That sounds like a great idea, but were they waterproof? They used to make things called "overshoes" which were rubber shoes that fit over regular shoes to protect them from rain, but I haven't seen anything like that in long time. I thought about tying plastic grocery bags around my dancing shoes, but what I did was just walk around barefoot all the time and put my shoes on right before I got ready to dance.

  • @moonshineV Wish I'd thought of that. Are they waterproof?

  • @fltftdncr no not waterproof, and fell off without me knowing it when I walked on muddy earth. we need to tweak something like that with a lining on the bottom of ducktape. BTW, wuz you at cd release party mt hairy, where lotsa flatfooting?

  • @moonshineV No, I was dancing some on the lodge porch with Thomas Maupin and Jay Bland on Thursday and Saturday nights, plus spent some time dancing at the pavilion during several of Charlie Burton's workshops. I was also called up on stage briefly during Thomas's masters showcase on Friday. And I entered the competition (didn't win anything).

  • @fltftdncr Congrats on being called up w Chairman Maupin. My query was about Mt Airy, at Andy E's CD party - I recall u or someone talking to me about properly tagging flatfooting youtubes. At ctop, thurs dancing looked fun. However, as more a percussive than flatfoot dancr, I less enjoy where I can't hear my own steps. and where the dominant sound in a jam is the downbeat. I prefer emphasis if upbeat & syncopation. Hope to soon chk out my Burton DVD got at his weds night pavillion session. :)

  • @moonshineV I wasn't at Mt. Airy. I agree, the porch was pretty noisy, and without taps (Maupin and Bland had taps, I didn't), it's hard to hear your steps. I have some video I'll post sometime - lost my USB cable, so getting a new one.

  • Fun to see you buck-dancin w/other folks :)

  • @CadillacL Fun is right! I had to drive to West Virginia to find other folks who enjoy dancing sillylike in the outdoors. Parteh!

  • @moonshineV Best thing is when you get a few folks out there & everyone has their own style.
