It's interesting you feel that way. I felt that the game improved on Half-Life 2 in every way (Excluding length). I found that the Zombines were fun to fight and I found their kamikaze style engaging and fun to fight against, especially during the pitch dark parking garage scene, which was my favorite part in the game. I thought the game was still great, but man Episode 2 was better. However, I agree with you on story. It really didn't have much of it, and Gman only had one line :(
@ImTylerDurden99 Oh I have. I completely agree except on the part where you say the antlion section was weak. I really liked the part where you had to fight off all of them with those two guys and the vortigaunts. Ya know with the antlion sensors?
@Kuzo53 yeah, not quite my favorite section but maybe that's because the end of the game was just so exceptionally good that it overshadowed everything else
@ImTylerDurden99 This is very true. I had to redue the part with the striders like 10 times but it was hectic and fun. Going through the antlion tunnels was boring.
yeah that was probably the best part in the whole episode for me too, but the strider sequence in episode 1 pissed me off. i would try running away from it and then get blown up by a stupid proximity mine that i didnt see then my dumb ass rockets would fly in circles and hit me in my head and instantly kill me all while i was being torn to pieces by his tri-legged lanky ass and the majority of episode 1 just wasn't fun for me unfortunately. plus suicide zombies are just plain gay
I liked the Zombine, they only suicide 'nade when they're low on health from what I can tell.
Plus, you can pull the grenade form their hands with the GG, so that attack is kind of a benefit for you in that you get a free grenade to kill enemies.
i just got pissed off when i rounded a corner, didn't know he was there, and instantly died by his stupid grenade. there were numerous times in this game where i just instantly died, and a couple times i didn't even know what killed me. that type of stuff ruins a game for me.
I've never really run into that problem, I can usually hear the beeps form the grenades to know when he's around a corner like that.
The part that pissed me off in Ep 1 was in the hospital when you fall through the floor and the water is electrified. I still can not get back to the other side without being electrified.
ah hahahahaha i had to youtube walkthrough that part, and once i saw what you had to do i said something along the lines of this, "that's the fucking most retarded, unobvious, bull shit puzzle i've ever seen in a damn vidoegame, fuck that shit." then i proceeded to finish the electric water part and moved on. mind my french
I finally got it, I just had to think Half Life style.
I just can't jump back from the broken walkway to the stairs without falling in the water and losing like 50 health. something always knocks me back in.
my name? thats just catchy lol im talking about valve mayb im just jealous i miss out on l4d im gona have to rent it and play it at a friends house feel like im missing out on something
ive always loved Half Life 2. its the first game to interest me i gaming. I think you will enjoy episode 2 a little better, since it is a tad more open.
i didnt really like episode 1 either. the puzzles pissed me off in this one compared to half life 2. you're right though, its still a decent game but not as good as a half life game should be.

I enjoyed Ep 1. Frankly, the elevator pitch black zombie fight is one of the best action sequences I've ever played.
