You can just buy an ink pad from office depot and lightly press your finger in, and then onto some paper. It is simple and clearly shows the print. BTW, this is for recording prints, not to retrieve them from the crime scene.

There are very few programs like that, especially available to the public. You need to examine the fingerprints to the suspect's print. I am sure they exist, just not for us.

You are right, I am a Crime Scene Investigator by trade- the type of software you are talking about is AFR (Automatic Fingerprint Recognition) and is not available to the public, however you could scan the lifted latent mark and an inked fingerprint (or palm) and use photoshop to put coloured dots on the characteristics which are in agreement, thus marking them just like we do to present the evidence in court! :-)

In that case, you should know the answer to this. How much, if any better is magnetic power compared to normal. I noticed all the fluorescent detection methods use ink, how could you use ink to find the fingerprint, or am I just getting confused?

That is a good question, however I am not going to give a straight answer- magnetic powder is just another tool- the powder used depends largely on the type of surface- I still use aluminium flake 90% of the time with magneta- flake the rest- I haven't used the older black magnetic powder or the black or white granular powders for years (with the exception of using black granular for powdering footwear marks).

In terms of flourescent methods, there are flourescent powders available but I dont like using them (personal choice I guess) but there are no inking methods to find fingermarks (a latent mark is what is found at the crime scene, fingerprints are what are inked and rolled from a suspect).

With the same technique you can also steel the persons fingerprint. And yous it to fool an fingerprint scanner! After dusting make an nice pic of it with an digital camera. Go to the pc and draw over the lines and clear the rest. You only have fingerprint with nice lines. Then yous a laser printer. Get some se true plastic colerprinter sheets and print it. It will make an 3D print of the finger print. Put some silicon kit over it. And let it dry. And presto! al this thought by a 13 year old!

Lol, thiers s similair thing called gummy bear prints which is more effective if you have the tools, but heres the problem with the video, if you try to use the fingerprint off the plastic tape, and use it against a fingerprint scanner it will get confused since you need to apply some pressure such as place it on ur finger and push the fingerprint version down, the scanner would get confused and reject the fingerprint. Gummy bears work better =D google it
