ok the story behind this pas de duex is based on a old fairy tale under the guidlines that that a blue bird is teaching is teaching princess florine how to fly so she can escape from her castle and this is the princess florine variation from the blue bird pas de deux from the sleeping beauty
ive never seen a pirouette inbetween the eshapper, personally i find it makes the arebesque off the music. but the dancer did her job and was amazing, i dont know who the choreographer is thoughh
@Nath1001 I think the off the music is intended to be like that as i'v watched this again and again then i realised it~~ also if you search the same production, its like this too! ;)
@Nath1001 She's not off the music; that's the way it was choreographed for this Sleeping Beauty reconstruction. Every Florine at the Mariinsky dances the variation the like this.
I think she would have been doing the whole "chin" thing since she was a little girl.. It would be so hard to break the habbit now.. But she was very enjoyable..
this is cute (: her arabesques look a little too far out towards second but otherwise she's really graceful and those bourrees at the end are nice and fast (:
Her arabesque is a little off, and now that your pointed it out I see that she throws her chin up; and yes... it is quite distracting.
All of those people rated your comment poorly, but you were just critiquing which I think is totally fine. It helps one improve.
I have to disagree with you on the wrists though- Balanchine had alot of his dancers break their wrists, and personally I like the look of it. But thats a personal preference. ^^
I think that there is quite a bit of dimension to her dancing. Nothing is wrong with having a sweet smile. Everything is supposed to be emphasized on stage as you know, but her chin is a little over the top.
However she makes everything look so effortless and graceful! Exactly what a dancer is supposed to do! There were a few nitpicks, but overall she did very good compared to other BlueBird videos en (XD) youtube.
Oops- that was all supposed to go towards chocolate0cheesecake, you know... the one whom you all rated badly on her comment. Critique is not wrong- its helpful.
She didn't comment like, "OMG tat wuz horrrrrrrrble... GAWD y dos she dans?". She posted a thorough critique which I personally honor. I dunno about the rest of you though, that think a lot of the dancers are absolutely perfect, and should never be critiqued. Besides, dancers thrive on it. ^^
Usually I don't like when dancers have such tiny legs. But hers are very beautiful. She is a gorgeous dancer. And did very well in this part.

Her arabesque is crooked.
In the whole first section, her left wrist breaks the line.
She throws her chin up too mcuh when she's emphasizing the smile.
No dimension to the dancing, just a lot of bright smiling.
chocolate0cheesecake 3 years ago
her chin should go up, you want to look proud, she is a princess. and how is her arabesque crooked? she just has a very high extension.
wigglebells 3 years ago
Thank you for saying that! Everybody's a critic on here. ugh.
She's beautiful.
