  • I enjoyed it back in 2006 probably because I didn't see the original to compare it to, an I don't pay attention o silly details like the bees

  • A perfect example of how not to do a remake. Great review.

  • I am studying the original in English and Edward Woodward is so much better. I agree with everything you are saying. And they forgot the biggest thing...everyone was Scottish in the original and now they are poncy American snobs. A waste of time and effort I say

  • You are totally right man! Did anyone ever tell you, you look a little like Jimmy Somerville? Run away turn away run away turn away run away........ (small town boy)?

  • @MockBlue Thank you, and no, I've never been told that. Funny you should say it though, as someone a few days ago told me I was a bit like Benedict Cumberbatch (he plays Sherlock Holmes in the new UK version), although I fail to see the resemblence.

  • @mwhite148 Yes, I'm sorry about that... was in a stupid mood! That aside, I think you have a great style and you are completely right. I was livid when I found out that they were remaking this film with Nicholas Cage.... Is nothing sacred to the Americans? The original was so quirky it was brilliant! Thanks, and sorry for the bad comparison. For what it's worth I resemble Ken Dodd!!!!

  • Also, in the case of the bee stinging part, where did they get the bees, anyway? I thought they left, isn't that why they're sacrificing him? And as for the director being sexist, when is it ever a good idea to put your opinions in a movie if it's one that will make people want to hunt him down and burn him. They are women, not the freaking Cenobites of Hellraiser. Speaking of which, if they remake that film and don't get Doug Bradley as Pinhead, there'll be hell to pay. Anyway, great review! =)

  • You've convinced me to check out the original

  • I agree with you about Nicholas Cage being catsed in this. He didn't do a bad job and to me he wasn't the prob. It was everyone else and also him punching old nanny's and shit was funny. But I agree.

  • Good review.

  • HEY! Nicholas Cage did a great job in Lord of War, and that's a serious movie...

  • u try to hard to be funny i fucking hate you and ur voice annoys me im cave johnson were done here

  • I watched this piece of garbage last night, and your review is spot on. Cheers!

  • @furrytommy I watched it 2 hours ago, waste of time maate!

  • 2000-sex?

  • I totally agree and I just subscribed to your channel. For your next review you should watch Schumacher’s new thriller “Trespass.” It has Nic Cage and Nicole Kidman. I can’t wait! bit. ly/oW4dGe

  • This is an excellent review. Well done.

  • An excellent review, thank you for making it. Yes, it's true, this remake was a poorly contrived "cash grab" if ever there was one. In the film, Nicolas Cage was his usual depressing self, devoid of any acting merit whatsoever. I am glad to hear 'though that the true heir to the original Wicker Man classic will be out sometime soon; it's called The Wicker Tree. I can't wait!

  • Throughout most of the movie I was laughing, not just from how bad it was, but I kept hearing Eddie Izzard saying, 'AH!! I'm covered in bees!!!"

  • Considered and highly amusing. The only reason Robin Hardy let these clowns anything near his original was to get the money together to finance his next film.

  • to much reading

  • I rented the wicker man (2006 version) recently, and after seeing it It left me saying WHY? , WHY in the hell was this made and why did nic cage star and even produce this Turd of a film?, but one thing i noticed was the ending with the bees was removed and reshot for our version of the DVD release (thats the Australian version), which i felt Kinda cheated because I had heard of the infamous bees ending and really wanted to see what the fuss was all about, oh well at least its on youtube.

  • I don't really understand all of the biased hate this movie gets. There is some (unintentional?) comedy in it, but from a psychological standpoint, Nic Cage acted much like any other somewhat insane person fearing for the life of his possibly already dead daughter would. It tells a suspenseful and chilling tale of horror and is overall a great interwoven psychological conundrum to decipher.

Or you can be one of those people that are like: It's bad cuz someone else says it is. And Cage.

  • @DoctuhD Well, I cannot at all see where you're coming from, but to each his own I guess.

  • @DoctuhD That's obvious: you don't understand. Did you watch the video you're commenting on?

  • annoying voice

  • haha, this movie did look like a piece of shit, I'll avoid it now unless I'm drunk with some friends

  • GREAT and FUNNY review. I don't think Nicolas Cage is a BAD actor. He's a pretty good he has been in some good movies like, Matchstick Men (that was GREAT movie), Kick Ass, National Treasure (1 & 2), and The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

And based on your review of The Wicker Man:

I do think that The Wicker Man (2006) looks really bad. (That's it)

  • You have a stick up your arse. The movie is not meant to be taken that seriously. It's strange and campy. If you have seen any other movies or read anything by Neil LeBute, yes he is often sexist but whatever. His work is often perverse and off kilter. He wasn't trying to make a serious film as you state.

  • @2landscapes Watch this trailer for the film watch?v=KcRFaIRWON4. It was marketed as a serious thriller.

  • @mwhite148 Just because it was marketed as a serious thriller doesn't make the movie itself bad for being over the top and somewhat campy. I never saw the trailer to this until now. I simply watched this movie because it was directed by Neil LaBute. LaBute is a misogynist so those aspects of it neither surprised or bothered me. In fact, they made me chuckle.

  • Try putting a sock on the mic, thats the cheapest way to get rid of the wind in it

  • lol piershon? u mean person?

  • watched it yesterday and i liked it i didnt even think it was horror if your looking for a mysterious movie this is a pretty good one but if your looking for horror movie you wont like it

  • Holy shit is that 'Soap' MacTavish who's the reviewer?

    mrwhite148 = 'Soap' MacTavish

  • I love your accent! and your funny :) I'm subscribing :D I LOVE reviews on horrible films, please do more :), like watch Showgirls or something lol

BTW, your point about the needle near the end. Nic Cage's character is allergic to bees and in the middle of the movie I believe he lost one of his Epi(sp?) pens and so I think they took it. SO they used his Epi pen, which I think they stole, to revive him again so that he wake up to feel the pain... it's kind of sad that I know that huh? lol

  • I think the studio interfered with the director a lot during the production, I thought it would have been a better ending if Nic cage had somehow escaped from the burning wickerman and had gotten help from the outside

  • I saw this film the day of it's release. BIG MISTAKE!!!

  • @Triperiokstas What you have just said is an act of war on the whole country of Scotland. Merry Christmas.

  • @mwhite148 Merry Christmas to you too.

  • You're too close to your microphone. Back up and get a pop filter (or make one yourself for real cheap).

  • I disagree with the Horror movie moniker that these movies tend to get (thinking of the original Wickerman, The Serpent and the Rainbow), I feel like Modern Tragedy is more fitting to these kinds of movies were the protagonist is just shit on and eventually offed. I Am Legend would fall into this category if the movie adaptation wasn't Hollywoodized, kept it's original ending, and followed the novel more closely. But anyways...

Nice review, I like to melodramatic tone in your narration.

  • haha u look stupid :D

  • good review, just improve the sound recording

  • Your review was spot on. Very nicely done, I would encourage you to do more projects like this in the future.

I also agree with your points. I think your video could be improved by including footage from the movie, though I don't know about the copyright issues that would involve. In any case, extremely well done!

  • ...

  • dude back off the mike a little bit and really the movie ain't that bad because while it has it's down points it also has good points just like every other movie out there but you probably wouldn't know cuz you spend too much time just solitarily looking for bad points...next time you decide to make a review make sure you get both sides of the movie not just the bad and Nick Cage did an Excellent job in World Trade Center...Dumbass

  • Man, 2006 was a pretty shitty year, wasn't it?

Great review, man. Never would have thought of any of this.

  • Great review of a terrible movie. Also, I love your accent, never stop being you!

  • i agree, i think that NC is a great actor but this is movie is just more comicale and offensive then any where near horror at all but this is unfortante that he agreed to do this movie, but he needs to eat too i gusse lol, and ya the bee's even if sweepd off just to point out, that there would be still even massive swelling and stingers stuck all over his face.

  • i agree, i think that NC is a great actor but this is movie is just more comicale and offensive then any where near horror at all but this is unfortante that he agreed to do this movie, but he needs to eat too i gusse lol

  • I have to see this movie!

I'm looking for a comedy to watch!!!

  • A good and funny review but please get a better microphone. Fuck the people who hate your accent, I dig it.

  • Fuck you TheTroll342. Go lick a dickhole.

Hey man, you did a good job, I actually have seen this movie and it was absurd to abmoral degrees. Well done, I can't honestly say I'll be on your channel that much, i just happened across this video, but I think it was good and you should do more.

  • Ugh, fucking Scottish accent. Aye Cannot foocking oonderstand yoons.

  • @DonHamburger ummmmmmm he's british. soooo yeah.

  • hey you wanna try not breathing directly into the mic for every video you make

  • Good work. You might look into a higher-quality mic, or perhaps setting up some kind of shield between your face and the mic you used, because there is a lot of noise whenever you say plosives (like "p" and "b"). Liked nonetheless :-)

  • Also this video was linked in the "suggestions" section of another video about nicholas cage that I enjoyed a lot called "Nicholas Cage losing his shit"

It's pretty hilarious. You should see it.

  • I thought it was only female honeybees that die after they sting you. Bumble bees don't. However, since he was screaming about honey perhaps they really were honeybees. OR they are actually bumble bees and all of the honey bees have died which is why the villagers have no honey. As for the bees avoiding the villagers, perhaps they are not targeted by the bees because they are protected by their pagan gods? In any case, a ridiculous movie.

  • borat meets hitler who meets ned flanders! LMFAO BEST LINE EVER

  • Too bad you're breathing in the mic so heavily, this makes together with your accent review even less understandable (wich is nice).

  • good review but i think you are speaking a little close to the mic.

  • The Wicker Man comes out to be funny because Nicholas Cage knows how to make shitty movies into funny.

  • I love how this guy is talking under his breath so his parents don't hear him and think he's fucking mental.

You must be a master at masturbating without getting caught.

  • @palmtomedia

I thought you were gunna milk an unnecessary xzibit meme for a second.

  • The only serious movie Nicholas was truely good in, where he wasn't completely insane, was the Knowing. I haven't seen this movie and I don't think I'll waste my time on it. Unless, of course, I have a group of friends interested in a night of making fun of bad horror movies. In which case, I thank you for adding another to our list.~

  • its adrenaline not anti-biotics

  • @verybadman69 Actually, it was an epipen, but sadly I can't go back and re-phrase that sentence in the review.

  • @mwhite148 yes but in the epipen is adrenaline lol. love ur review tho haah

  • I think that Nicolas Cage is at his best when he is in dark comedy's/drama's. Look at The Weatherman, and Lord of War. Those are AMAZING performances.

  • First, cover your mic.

Second, the bee pouring scene isn't funny, nor is it memorable.

This movie is famous because of the scene when Nic Cage PUNCHES A WOMAN IN THE FACE WHILE WEARING A BEAR COSTUME.

HOW DOES ONE TALK FOR TEN MINUTES ABOUT THIS MOVIE WITHOUT MENTIONING THAT????? It's like talking about Bullet without mentioning the CAR CHASE.

I recommend that everyone sees this movie. It is absolutely hilarious.

  • @atdi555

Were you listening? He did mention that.

  • Great review, but get a cover for your mike bro! Listening on headphones I thought you were about to spit in my ear

  • "Serious Horror Film"

    LOL

    Such a thing doesn't exist.

  • Hey Scotty, you're about 4 years too late with this. And newsflash, the first one wasn't that great either. And as far as the worse movie ever made, there are ton out there that would be better suited for that title.... Skyline,The Human Centipede, Highlander 2, District 9, AVP2, Batman and Robin, Batman Returns, Superman 4 just to name a few...

  • They did have injectable needles way back when.

But what's the point to torture a guy then fix em up??

  • Can you do the a review of the the movie the "The Room" I think its the only movie that can beat this.

  • NOT THE BEES, NOT THE BEEEEEEEEES!

  • feedback: include clips of the film it would seriously help, nevertheless it was a hilarious review

  • lulzy and worth watching!

  • Heres the feed back. Next time, dont talk so close to the mic. Otherwise well done

  • The only worthwhile reason for this movie to exist is to see nicolas cage punching a woman in the face whilst wearing a bear suit

  • Great review, but the audio quality was VERY distracting. A decent microphone with a good wind muff and/or pop filter would be a really good investment.

  • Sounds a LOT like Mr. Plinkett... (Famous for his Star Wars reviews...)

  • Well done. I'm glad I've not seen this movie -- and based on your review, I won't waste my time. Btw, what are the words you say @~6:37 just before "battle of the sexes"? I love your Scottish accent, but couldn't make that out.

  • @bcwiss I said that it's been '' turned into a routine battle of the sexes ''.

  • @mwhite148 Of course! Now i hear it :) Thank you. Wish I could listen to Scottish voices all day!

  • Best movie review ever. Truly a shitbag of a movie.

  • Just stumbled upon this vid on the main page! for once i really enjoyed a random vid from the main page... have a feeling your vids wont be so random for me annymore :D

  • So to summarise, Wicker Man (2006) is shite!

  • you shouldn't really use Rotten Tomatoes, they're wayyy too harsh (maybe not for these movies in particular) but they need to get there heads out of there asses and actually enjoy a movie

  • good review, and i just wanna add a point why remakes get made and 1 reason is very simple what teens of today wanna see is ( tits, sex, people dying and more sex) and most couldnt care less about story, so producers directors bla bla slap a classic name e.g friday 13th... and a few well known actors and kid will go see it. and goes without saying money, but im not against remakes im one of those ppl that like up to date horrors coz of acotrs ill know and HD, but good review like to see more.

  • That was really well done. I haven't seen either movie but I found your review very entertaining. Keep up the good work!

  • nice honest review mate

gotta be honest with ya , but I hated the original aswell , know i am in the minority there , but they are just not my type of horror movies :)

great vid Michael - hope to see more :)

  • @SCOTTISHFILMFAN Yeah, I do sympathise with people who disliked the original. It's lack of actual horror is dissapointing to some.

  • Great review kidda, had me listening from start to finish. i agree, the wickerman remake was terrible. I truely love the original. The remake should never have been made. Top stuff matey, 5*****.

  • Great. Much better than you just sitting there holding a DVD. You really did your homework!

  • Comment removed

  • nice i liked the review

but at times the mic muffled and the quality dropped for a second or so before fixing and leveling out

  • Awesome video, Funny Comments :) You should do more video like this. LOL About the moustache comment. ;D
